  • #wolferidge17vs#woodsplitter#logdeck. I've been cutting word for over 54 years and finally built a log deck to keep logs off the ground. I cut a lot of wood around the property and use the forks or grapple to haul in lengths from 8 to 12 feet or so depending on diameter. This deck works great.

You made the right decision on which splitter to get. Congratulations. I just took delivery of a Wolf Ridge SS 24 HD that I have mounted to the front of my tractor so that I can split big rounds into manageable sizes to run through my horizontal splitters. I’m very impressed with Chris’s welding skills.

You can't show and describe the deck and not show it in use :(
The Wolf Ridge is a nice splitter.

Ok, I'll see what I can do about that. Thanks for the comment.

I’m like you, in the fact that I prefer to stack to stage my rounds to be split. Some people suggest to buck a few logs, and then split to save you time by not “touching” your wood as much. I’ll try it, but I’m just not sold on it just yet.

Thanks for the comment. I knew there were others that like to keep a neat woodyard. Plus, it kind of gives me an idea of what I have. Stacking up the splits helps with seasoning (my opinion).

@@hkerr-di1yg I do stack after splitting. I split into my dump trailer, and then stack into IBC totes from there. It makes them really easy to handle by doing it that way. My inventory is small, and I just started selling bundles only. I may start to just loose toss into the totes as my business grows, in order to save time. In the meantime, I’m gonna continue to stack to have an accurate count.

20" although I found out later that you can special order it with a 24" stroke. Extra charge I'm sure. 20" is fine for me.

It will only split 16to 18 inches wood. I got some boys that won't 22 ,24 wood.

It does up to 20". If you want to do up to 24, you can order it that way. I don't need anything more than 20" so it's good for my needs.
