Miele S7580 Autocare Hepa Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review & Demonstration

  • Here's a very comprehensive review of the Miele S7 upright vacuum cleaner.
    I give a guided tour of the cleaner and test it on various surfaces and demonstarte pick up performance on carpets, hard floors and using the mini turbo brush.
    I would recommend this cleaner if you're looking for a quality machine with excellent performance, but it is quite large and heavy, so not suitable for those looking for something light and compact.

    Thanks for the review. I have this model and it cleans very effectively, It cleans the rugs very well and it is easy to move under tables and has a very long lead that is great. The cleaning of windows edges with the attachments is a breeze and the suction is amazing. I wouldn't look at another brand now because it cleans so well. Only downside is replacing the bags but the upside is the dust is trapped and doesn't come back into the room.

    I currently use my Morphy Richards Lift Away for a quick clean of the whole house as it is easy to use and does a good job. I am in a Miele phase at the moment, so I am using various Miele cleaners including my new S8 UniQ. I am going to get my Revolution 5000 out and use that for a while and probably make a video of it.

    Hey ibaisaic! I have this exact Miele (USA Model) upright, had it for years and have it to my Mom. Then the on/off switch quit working. Long story short I bought her a replacement thinking the labor charges and handle assembly would be too much for a 5 year vacuum. I myself bought the Felix Sebo and find it fantastic for my cleaning needs. Anyhow I couldn't just leave this beautiful vacuum in the closet, alone and scared. So found out the handle unit (includes handle, switches and full cord/flex) for $100 bucks US and no labor! Wish I'd seen an in boxing as it was long enough ago with mine, I'd forgotten the handle just snaps into place. So now I have two of the Best (my opinion) upright vacuums. Thanks for this awesome video to refresh me on the Miele.. Can't wait til the handle comes in the mail. ;-)

    I think you're referring to the side suction channels on either side of the base plate. I had the Cat & Dog S7 and one of the black pieces fell off when I went over a threshold strip but I managed to spot it before it ended up inside the cleaner. Unfortunately the same thing has happened with the S7 in the video and I have lost the part. I am hoping that I can obtain a replacement from Miele but I haven't enquired about it yet.

    Ibaisaic,
    I love your channel. These have been discontinued in the USA. The last ones to be manufactured are selling out and they are becoming hard to find. I got lucky, as I finally found a dealer 2 hours away from me that had one left. I ordered a Cat&Dog model online, but when I called he said he forgot to update his inventory and only had 1 U1 left, and it was a Homecare. He gave it to me at no additional cost with the HEPA filter, turbo tool, and it comes with the max warranty (5 years parts & labor in USA; for Homecare model only). I much prefer the white, but I will accept the red for the longer warranty. I hope it comes with the digital suction speed instead of the dial. I think the white looks way better on it. The one I am getting is candy apple red, which is nice to.

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s been discontinued quite a while in the UK with no stocks that I can find online anymore. If yours is a metallic finish, you need to be careful with it as the finish easily comes off if you scratch the machine.

    Mine is nearly 9 years old, still under warranty - little scruffy now as it was my main machine for a number of years - brilliant machine though. Was hoping to pick up a U1 before the ban but seems no one actually stocked these machines so there are none left anywhere now. I notice Miele have just launched the new solitary U1 model post '900+ wattage ban' launching a 890W U1 for £370!!! crazy money if you ask me. I'm dubious that the machine will be as effective with 890W as I suspect they haven't done any re-designing other than sticking in a lower powered motor.

  • @ibaisaic

    I have seen a few Philips cylinder cleaners but they are not widely available and not a brand most people in the UK would look for when choosing a vacuum cleaner. There were more models available in the 80's and 90's including an upright.

    Thank you for the great video review I just purchased the U1 dynamic eco black vacuum S7 it's a fantastic cleaner and the cord is way longer than on my Miele Delphi. I bought the seb 236 premium powerhead for my Delphi but i feel the dynamic eco does a better job I also purchased the premium Airteq floor tool that saves energy by lowering suction it looks like the one on the Alize I want to try it on my eco plus and see how it works on floors .

      +ibaisaic Do miele uprights seem to preform better or equal to the canisters? I'm trying to decide what the best one for our house would be for future reference. Currently have med./hi. shag carpet and old hard floors, with the cracks between the wood. Any thoughts? Don't really have any preference, but do like canisters for the hose. But I also like uprights for the maneuverability.

    • @plainlybasic2300
      @plainlybasic2300 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I like canisters for the flexibility, but I like the maneuverability of uprights better. And plus, on Miele uprights, it takes two seconds to use the hose and put it back.

    I find it crazy how a lot of the UK machines do not have a clip to hold the end of the cord to the rest of the cord on the reel so it does not come unraveled. In the US, most vacuums have a clip on the plug itself that just clips right onto the cord. I guess it is because out plugs are so much smaller.

  • @____________________________.x
    @____________________________.x 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Any brush tool without its own motor isn't worth bothering with, and as your video showed you still need the crevice tool to clean the edges. To repeat that on every step is impractical.
    They do tend to topple when the side catch begins to wear, and this can damage your walls and furniture.
    I've got two of the S7 series, good machines but ludicrous pricing of spares

    Had that same hoover for nearly 7 years now. Only ever had to change a hose due to me accidentally splitting it. Obviously the filters have been replaced. Love those bags though. Compared to the Dysons i've had in the past, i'm for ever clearing the dust collector almost once a month or less depending on suction levels. The miele, stays strong almost right until the very top when you do notice a slight lack in suction at the carpet level. But it really does fill to the top.
    The only issue I've got now, and not sure what it is, but every now and then it sounds like something is opening up inside when suction is going which drops suctions, like an air gap has opened. Don't know if it's a valve or something?
    Anyway, I do need a new filter, so could well be just a blocked filter, but if you have any idea what it could be, I'd appreciate your thoughts.
    Thanks for some good viewing. Especially some of the old Hoover models. My dad use to work for Hoover and repaired those same models.

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many vacuum cleaners have a suction bleed valve that opens if the airflow is reduced, either from a full bag or container, dirty filters or a blockage. With the cleaner on maximum, block the end of the hose with your hand and you should hear the valve open and the suction escaping. This is normal and designed to keep the air flowing through the cleaner to prevent overheating. If you haven’t replaced the exhaust filter for over a year then it may be a good idea to fit a new one.

  • @squirrel6158
    @squirrel6158 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    its not a side suction thats come off they are in fact " spacers" to lift the electrobrush off the carpet if u take one off u will see that they are sealed at the bottom there are no gaps for suction

    (From USA) THANK YOU for your videos! Comparing the Sebo X4 with the Miele S7, it appears that the Miele has the advantage of being able to turn the rotating roller on and off for carpet or hard surface. Also, the spec's I've seen for air flow and water lift between the two would seem to favor the Miele. Does your experience bear that out? Are there other factors that would cause you to recommend one over the other ?? Thank you for your time !!

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say the Miele has better performance than the Sebo but it is quite big and heavy. Personally I would chose the Sebo Felix over the Miele and X4.

    • @dtcowlick
      @dtcowlick 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is your choice of the Felix due to better performance than the Miele, or equal performance but more convenient appliance (i.e. lighter and easier to maneuver) ? Do Sebos have better build quality, or about the same as Miele? Thank You !!

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find the Sebo easier to handle than the Miele and slightly better built. Spares for the Sebo are much cheaper and easy to fit too. I would say performance is very similar.

  • @nickarcher2593
    @nickarcher2593 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Miele upright is probably their best vac, there regular barrel vacuum cleaners are average because they are only single (suction only) or double action (suction and rotating brush) whereas their upright is triple action (suction, rotating brush and vibrating) so is comparable to other triple action vacs on market e.g. Hoovers etc... Their upright does a good job whereas their other vacs are overrated, get the upright as does best job on carpet (dont waste your time with their Cat & Dog as it is only a double action vac)...

    ibaisaic question please sir... Do you know how I will know when the agitator brush needs replaced on my approximately 5 year old Miele upright. Do I use a straight piece of paper or cardboard across the floor plate and measure for a certain length of brush protruding?? It still vacuumed very well before the switch failed and my brushroll looks close to yours. Just wondering if you could give me some advice on brushroll maintenance. As always, Thank You!

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jon McConnell From what I understand, replacement Miele brushrolls are very expensive and difficult to fit, but unless the cleaner has had very heavy use, it shouldn't need replacing for a long time. That's why I prefer Sebo over Miele as the brushrolls are much cheaper and can be replaced at the touch of a button.

    • @HonestJoe68
      @HonestJoe68 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ibaisaic Thank you! I didn't think it looked like it needs replacement but wanted a professional opinion. These brushroll are designed to last on average of 15+ years. The only thing that would shorten its life would be if you ran it on rough concrete with the brushroll spinning. After 5 years of use I probably has little to no wear. I’ve seen some much older that still look new.

      +Jack Ledger you clearly are using or maintaining the appliance incorrectly as the performance is as good as if not better than Miele and no smells come from my vacuum

    why is your washing machine not miele ?

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Because our old Bosch served us well for nearly 10 years, it broke down between Christmas and the new year and my partner and I didn't have a grand to spare for a Miele. When our current washer needs replacing it may be a Miele, but I am not impressed with a friends new W1, so it may be another Bosch.

    • @squirrel6158
      @squirrel6158 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ibaisaic i dont like the w1 either but my w5872 (£980) is fantastic :) btw bosch washing machines are not even made in germany anymore its all over the world, btw my s7 to date im unable to get a bag full of dirt just fills half way up and stops

      already got this Miele s7580 (5 years ago and Dyson dc14 (8 years ago).
      Thinking of now replacing the dc14 and getting a sebo felix. Due to it being :
      1. bagged, (saving time in cleaning, then the Dyson, and cleaner exit air).
      2. Lighter (easier to move about).
      3. Better (carpet and maybe kitchen) cleaning then the dc14.
      4. Easier to remove and clean the removable roller.
      5. Overall better, cleaner results and nicer user experience.
      Don’t think in the Dyson v11 or the Miele pro cordless justify the price tags, (also think cordless technologies are still newish and getting better all the time). Maybe (in two years time) by 2022 I’ll buy a cordless lets see, if they release a perfect Miele. Dyson v11 now not good enough for me. Maybe dc 14 will be, as long it’s not £1,000+

    what is the suction rates for this hoover for carpet and hard floors ect please ?also is there another hoover u know of that also stops the brush if jammed thanks

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This model was prodduced before the ratings label came into effect. You can get the details for current models on Miele's website. Many vacuums have a brushroll that stops if jammed including models from Shark, Vax and Sebo.

      yes! I am not a fan of bagless. my family bought into the hype of bagless machines in the past, but I thought what is the point in CLEANING your vacuum every time when you can pull the bag with the dirt trapped in it and throw it away and put a fresh bag in. think about it like an air filter for your furnace or even your trash cans. do you not put bags in your trash cans TO KEEP THEM CLEAN? I wonder why we do that? Oh so you don't have to clean a nasty trash can. same thing with a vacuum, it gets dirty so the bag collects most of the nastiness :)
