Technically, Woods, Mason and Hudson just made a three man standoff which none of them know who are they loooking for, except Hudson. Menendez uses the team to turn against each other without realizing its a set up

After breaking free from their captors in a POW camp in Laos, Mason and Woods attempted to rescue other POWs which is when they encountered Kravchenko. Woods stabbed him in the back and Kravchenko pulled the pin off one of his own grenades. Woods through both Kravchenko and himself through a nearby window and for whatever reason Kravchenko's grenade belt snapped off and exploded in mid air. They where both presumed dead at the time but the impact of the fall caused them both to be knocked out. Kravchenko came to first and imprisoned woods once again. Woods explains this in BO2.
This is a sequel to bo1 not a prequel to bo2
It’s a separate universe
Voice acting aside my biggest complaint about the Cold War campaign is how side lined woods and mason feel . For being a “direct sequel” to BO1 they took those two and almost made them feel like background characters throughout the entire play through . Side missions were cool but whole story should of been more in depth with mason , forget bell
It honestly felt like a story that didn’t need to be told
It's sad really. I didn't mind the idea of new characters being brought into the story, but Mason and Woods are what made Black Ops so enjoyable. It just feels wrong to make them more like side characters in a series that centered around them.

That was kinda the point tho, since this story isnt supposed to be entirely based on Mason/Woods. Its better to see them like this than to not see them at all.
I was shocked that they did not mention Reznov. But that mention of the spy in Khe Sanh? That’s good enough.

Dude at 2:13 I really felt that vibe of almost being in the game talking to woods and mason. When they pretended to get offended I really felt like I was the one who fucked up 🤣 seeing them chuckle and joke really made me feel like I was with them.

With the characters being all spic and span, no cuts or scars and the new goofy vcs I was smiling my ass off when I watched them get oissy
And Mason doing the rock out symbol at least twice in the span of five minutes
Is it just me or do Mason and Woods feel like background characters in this game than they do actual main characters. They just feel like museum exhibitions that just spout out references when they feel like it
Well basically yeah you first play as mason and then eventually you play as bell bo1 was masons story while bo2 was woods story
yeah i got that from the game too but I don't think they were supposed to be the main focus maybe if they do something with this story In the next game it'll be more focused on them

Well it was meant to be SH studio making it, as far as we know Treyarch basically threw in Woods, Mason and Hudson co side with Adler and Bell. It feels weird but in a good way.
Well mason was a main character in black ops 1 so I wouldn't entirely consider him a side character

The thing that always threw me here, is how Mason was perfectly fine with working with someone who was brainwashed and also had no issues with someone being brainwashed. You'd think after the events of BO1 he'd have atleast some issues with it.
He doesn’t know, only Adler, Adlers team, and Hudson I’m pretty sure. But I also think he might’ve known since mason and woods were kinda dicks to bell.

Woods' voice actor was great, I didn't know he was a different VA til I watched this video. Mason's actor lacks because he retains none of the accent that OG Mason had.

Man!! WHo ever did the Evil Ending First before the Good ending Your COLD. Like for me doing the evil ending hurts soo bad when I have to shoot them. It SUCKED. The others are questionable
For everyone saying that this is in the same universe as previous Black Ops titles...it's not. With the exception of the first Black Ops. This game creates a new universe. Which ties the following games together. World at War, Black ops 1, Black ops Cold War, Modern Warfare 2019. This is the first time in cod history that BO and MW characters exist in the same universe. Very excited for the future of the franchise! (In terms of story) The "Warzone merge" is kind of a cover up for the merge of the stories, but it's not that hard to figure out.
Honestly if the voice actors were the same as they’ve always been, this campaign would’ve been 100x more compelling, especially the evil ending, I probably would’ve felt way worse about what I did. I don’t know who these guys are

Im assuming since Woods is stating if Hudson found one of his bullets in Castro's head, he doesnt know they shot a double and Mason never mentions to Woods they shot a double.

And then they get mad at you because they don't WANT to be considered legends. What they did to accomplish their missions was usually inhumane.
the campaign may be too short with an ending too abrupt and with several OG characters underused, but hell, the developers made a hell of a job with details like these conversations
Mason was a badass in Bo1-bo2. He lead, planned, and made big decisions. In this one Mason sounds like he’s under going a sex change surgery. Please bring back the original voice actors, it is not that hard. Without these original voice actors, the game becomes pointless.
Not sure if this is in here, but when you’re getting debriefed by Gorbachev, he says what Kennedy told mason. “Our very way of life is at risk”
