Hi! I'm making jet tags currently and I'm running into the issue of how you cut the twill perfect. How did you manage to cut the twill perfectly like that with no edges frayed? Could you please let me know how you managed to cut it exactly to size? Thank you!
Hi! For these, I purchased a small laser cutter which gives me the perfect shape with no issues on the edges. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/zxeBx0PcsFo/w-d-xo.html
I would test it out but it should be very similar. If its too thin, you might want to double it up. The goal is to have the material hold well while embroidering but allow it to release easily.
do you do the placement stitch on the software or does your machine do it? If so how do I do the placement. I have had a patch done for me and I asked to do a placement stitch and they did not do it.
Hi! I used the Fuller Border which is a replicated "Merrow" edge stitching. The Merrow edge is usually created by a merrow machine but they can cost around $1500-2000+ USD to purchase. You can find the file on fullerembroideryworks.com
Thanks for watching! If you wanted to do a pattern on the back, you would just have to do the embroidery on the second piece as you did on the front then put them together after
I started with the Brother PE800 which works fantastically but has a smaller work space (5"x7") and can only do one color at a time. If you are wanting to start a business with this, you should look at the Melco Bravo as a great entry level semi-commercial embroidery machine.
I use the software that came with my Melco called design shop. If you aren't comfortable or don't have the software yet, I would ask your digitizer but be specific about the steps that are needed. 1) placement stitch, 2) tack down stitch for the twill, 3) text/design on inside, 4) outer border. You may want to add stops between step 3 and 4 so you can add the bottom twill on.
Hello! Thanks for watching. The pattern is sold by Fuller Embroidery. Their website is in the description. For the text, I had my digitizer create the file.
Hi there, is the grommet size you used for this project the 1/4" (6mm) or bigger? The link you provided took me to the 1/4" size, but just wanna make sure, just in case that's the default size for that particular punch on Amazon. I like the size you used on your project.
Hello! Thanks for posting this tutorial. If I want to do colored bobbin do you use 60 wt thread for the bobbin? I can’t seem to find anywhere that sells colored bobbin in 90 wt.
Hi! Hope you enjoyed the video. I prefer the pre-wound bobbins but my understanding is that the bobbin thread used with these Magna-Glide ones is 60wt so that should not be an issue if you plan on winding your own to a specific color.
Hi! Thanks for watching :) If you wanted to do a two-sided one, I would just add the embroidery on the other fabric first before attaching them together. I have a video of this process shot and will upload it soon, I just have had a lot of changes going on that has put me off for a bit unfortunately.
@@vonnylicious Absolutely! Hope it works well for you. The only thing I've notice with doing two sided embroidery in this way is if the stitches stack up, it starts to become bumpy on the design because of the thickness.
Thank you! How would I put my designs on the layout or cut ? while digitizing ? Could you do a tutorial on in depth with designing a jet tag on a software
@@elsieinthapanhnha I use the DesignShop software that comes with my Melco machine to place the design on top of the file. Alternatively, Embrilliance is a great option to add a design to an existing design file. I definitely can make a follow up video on this in the future to demonstrate this!
Do you think this can be done on a Brother SE625? I'm new to sewing/embroidery machines, and I was a curious if this machine would accomplish the thick border around the key tag.
I definitely think it would be possible, but the only way to know for sure is to try it out! I had the PE800 before my Melco and was impressed with the things it could do.
I was able to make my own with Embrilliance Stitch Artist although I later saw some blank designs on Etsy. I used a heavy black contractor trash bag for the first few that I made until I purchased the clear plastic. Thank you for an excellent video!
I'm not sure if I have it anymore. Someone told me the guy took the file down. You may be able to find an alternative or reach out directly to Jeff Fuller to create something like this again!
It really depends on how many you are planning to make. If you are just testing, I would just order a small amount in a common color such as black or white.
Hello! Yes, I did cut it out myself. The embroidery design files come with a cut template which you can use to cut it out with scissors. You can save a bit of time especially if you are doing larger quantities by cutting the twill with a laser or vinyl cutting machine.
@@LovesBranding which design files ? what do you mean by a cut template? ill have to see who can laser cut locally if thats easier. Def gonna get the $5 edge stitching you shared as well.
@@KukuyRulezDood The edge file comes with a vector file which you can use to cut the twill either by hand or by laser. Makes it really easy to know exactly what size twill you need for the 'applique' portion.

Tip for grommet placement, on the top design, digitize a tiny cross or "x". Then you don't have to try to guess.
Such a simple but quick idea. Thanks for the suggestion!
I love you for posting this. Came out so sick, gonna try making one myself this weekend. That black bobbin is the key, gotta order myself some
Glad you found it helpful! Hope they turn out well :)
I like this, and keep up the good work bro. It's less time consuming than the other videos I was actually thinking to learn from
Thank you so much for the feedback! I really hope to step it up this year with better quality videos 🙏
You can usexa sharpie to colour white bobbin if you want a coloured tag . Eg purple or pink.
Is it just thick plastic.
Great Idea!
Thanks for sharing this technique! It worked great for me.
Great to hear!
I learned something new from your video and got a valuable tip. I appreciate it more than you know. Thank you!!
So glad you found something useful in the video! Thank you for watching 😃
Just a suggestion.. use the punch to punch a hole first, then put the grommet on. That will flatten out the grommet better on the backside.
Great idea! I'll likely invest in a heavier duty gromet punch down the road to help out with that
Do you have any videos on how to do text or images front and back of the jet tag?
I don't :/ only made two videos on this I believe

If it's fraying you're using a high cotton blend. Gunold Poly is 65% poly/35% cotton.
Curious on your method of cutting the twill pieces into rectangles so perfect. What tools do you use?
Just using a ruler and taking my time! I did a video with a laser which I tried and it was okay but not that powerful
How wide and long are those tag?
Its around 1.25" tall x 5.5" wide
Hi sir, can we use this tactic with multiple design on same loop, thanks in advance
Yes this is very possible! Just need a larger hoop and you can do that.
Does drop cloth work just the same as plastic sheeting?

Did you use the satin stitch for Border
Yes, its a modified satin stitch to make it look like a marrow border
Can you send me the dst file for this so I can try it like the placement stitch to

Yes I do! It's very similar to how I do this, but just with the Velcro on the back

Did you just digitize Pro-4X and embroidered then switched to the fuller jet tag file to emrbroider the edges?
Correct. The jet tag file comes with just the edge so I add the digitized art file into it but it allows you to use it with any design.
