I get the no dating rules was probably necessary but damn, I know Kat was looking out for her as she knew her sister was popular yet it was messed up she and her father kept her hostage cooped up at home. I know things would've been a lot different if their mom was around.
Its trauma, he watched his wife abandon them and was afraid his daughters would too. Its wholesome to see how much they respect his word either way and they both compromised in the end. He allowed them to date but they also followed his rules. Bc they understand everything he went through to raise them as a single father. He let them later, but they're literally like teens it's not like they're being held hostage as 25 yr olds.

Idk how old you are or what stage in life you are in, but you don't have to be married in order to have sex with the "right" person. You could be married and have sex with the wrong person. I know people who rush into marriage just to have sex with each other and have divorced later on. You can do whatever you want with your life, but this is some advice that hopefully helps: if you love the person, you trust them, and they are respectful to you, then they are the right person to have sex with.
Also, I think there are two important things to experience with your partner before getting married: 1) live together. You never really know a person until you know all their good and bad habits. Knowing them as a roommate is more insightful to your relationship than anything else. 2) having sex before marriage. They could be bad at sex, they could be asexual, they could have different tastes and preferences than you, etc. All important to know before entering a lifelong commitment to them
