These are the kinds of things we should ALL be doing, imo thats why these samplers exist taking sound from all manner of sources and mixing them all up into something layered and beautiful
ah yeah, this is sick. would love to see more of this. I've been playing some ambient and noise sets with iOS and some cheap synths and FX, occasionally Ableton, and I just bought a mk2 today to be the new main sound source and performance instrument, so stuff like this is super inspiring. There are definitely people making ambient/experimental/soundscapey stuff out there, but not a ton on youtube, so we need more for sure!
Thanks for enjoying the video and commenting! The mk2 really is a nutty instrument. It’s amazing that you can have so many different sounds that can be transformed/mangled, then have it all run through the crazy effects sections! I anchorage you too check out my growing library of videos! Thanks again!
The future of drums & space. Release the mind into nothing and everything. Escaping the chains that have held since long before. Now is a must to journey to the depths of unknown.
Plays with a metronome for easy sample indexing and control. Bruh.. to save space on the board and to make pad playing technique consistent through different wav tables. Excellent WAV integration into the box.
This was the most inspiring video on how to use this device. I just bought it and watching this made sooo happy :) Thanks m8! Also great music on bandcamp❤️🙏🏿
The cards are amazing! They were released for The Afghan Whigs ‘In Spades’ tour. The art was done by Ramon Rodrigues. Check his stuff out! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Really cool, thanks. Did you tune the samples to the key of the bass groove you played? I have been wondering how to approach that with pieces like this…
Hey. Thanks for the comment. Many times I will sample by playing instruments/sound sources into the 404 while using the metronome and the count in feature so that I can keep things somewhat in the same key. Other times I will audition different samples and tune them all around so that they fit together more coherently. One of the greatest things about the 404 is it’s ability to use a little bit of chance and luck, while using the 404’s limitations for creative purposes. It really is a full featured little experimental recording studio in a portable instrument.
That’s correct! I wish the zoom would connect to the SP via USB, but it does not. I am running the 8th inch output from the zoom directly into the SP’s inputs.. thanks for the comment!
Hey! The deck was merch for sale on the Afghan Whigs’ In Spades tour. The deck and the album artwork were made by an artist named named Ramon Rodrigues Melo.

Hey, amazing stuff... so youre recording from mic thru zoom to sp ?
That’s correct! I wish the zoom would connect to the SP via USB, but it does not. I am running the 8th inch output from the zoom directly into the SP’s inputs.. thanks for the comment!
Never thought of using a Zoom h4n pro as a mic into the sp. Would that need a usb mini to usb c cable?
Hey! I simply ran 1/8” Stereo from the mic into the 1/4” inputs. Not sure if the Zoom is class compliant to work with USB C into the 404.
Inspiring stuff , well done , and in a budget .
Question.?. What is the tarot card deck ?
Hey! The deck was merch for sale on the Afghan Whigs’ In Spades tour. The deck and the album artwork were made by an artist named named Ramon Rodrigues Melo.
Where can I hear your albums?
Check out Stormy Acres, VCR22, and Tundra Node LLC on Bandcamp. Let me know what you think!!!
@@Soniccurtain Great stuff, you have a new bandcamp follower :-)
What tarot deck is that?
Actually, they are cards that correspond to names of songs on an album by The Afghan Whigs called ‘In Spades’. Definitely cool art on then.
great video ! What type of microphone are you using ?
Hey. Using the built in mics on my zoom recorder. Glad you enjoyed my video!
Keep up the good work Mahn ✌🏽
