How electrifying this 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 looked in that Grabber Green paint; especially, when I passed by on the road with the green grass in the background! Very striking are the additional "Ram Air" air ducts on the hood, and the large inclination of the rear window, making it look practically horizontal (hence its poor rear visibility). I loved the interior combination of different shades of green, both in the seats and in the upholstery; apart from the nice wood trim on the doors and instrument panel. The framed advertising in the garage was beautiful, where it said: "Control and balance make it a beautiful experience." And finally, the sound that its V8 produced through those cherry bombs and its big exhaust pipes while cruising down the highway was magnificent. Congratulations to Mr. McConnaughay, for having this Mustang in such magnificent condition for over 50 years! Best regards, Lou!

The 351C-4V came with a small-case C6 automatic. For 1972, although engine compression went down a point so that it could run on regular, they added a high-stall torque converter and an air cleaner with a trap door which would open during heavy acceleration. They were even more fun! My 1971 Ranchero Squire was equipped like this Mach 1(including the air shocks), got me into plenty of trouble. If the engine got a hint of anything other than premium, it was ping city. The hood may be "Ram Air" but the rest of it is missing under the hood. Looks like somebody changed the hood. On 1971-2 Mustangs, the front bumpers were chrome, not painted. It wasn't until 1973 that the front bumper became plastic and body color.
@@Psittacine-pp5yd Yes, I believe that air cleaner is original. My 1971 Ranchero Squire with a 351C-4V had the same air cleaner. I would say that the hood is not original. The Mustangs that I've seen with that hood had the proper ram air air cleaner. There is no reason to vent the hood and blow air into the engine compartment otherwise. It would actually create a drag on the car if the scoops weren't pumping air into the air cleaner.
@@automatedelectronics6062 Correct the scoops have a blank blocking water entering to hit the coil etc unless it has the Ram air then it has butterflies. And water plumbing all factory ''Ram air hoods'' had hood pins for Daytona hence Daytona hood is its real name.
