    I was held back by oversize and MP racquets in High School, as soon as i tried a Prestige MP (95) and then the 600 (89.5), it unlocked my game to another level. Yes, more work, and thats the deal, it helped me become better coz I needed to use technique and not flicking wrist shots to injure me. Not anymore, no pain, lots of spin, lots of drive. The Confidence gained.

    I'm 18 and I'm getting my pure strike 16x19 on Wednesday and I'm so excited!! I'm transitioning from a head radical team. I already tested the strike to see if I liked it and it was awesome. I felt like I had a lot more control and power. I also felt like I had to attack and hit the ball hard to access that power otherwise it wouldn't be so great, but I loved that feeling of giving everything I have to win the point.

    If you actually make it to d1 college tennis, you get access to pro stocks from manufacturers so you won’t be playing with these retail frames anymore once you’re at that level. I know this based on a guy who I’ve been hitting with here in SoCal who’s coming back after injury but said he had a 4 year tennis careers at a small d2 school from Florida. He plays with a retail prestige but would tell me how only d-1 got access to Prostock inventory and was all based on how prestigious your school was for tennis. Kinda messed up if you ask me but that’s the system.

    I had this problem too. I essentially developed tennis elbow from using my pure drive inappropriately. I started feeling like I had no control and so I tried to make up for it with string tension (i know bad idea) fast forward a few years and I was swinging a pure drive strung at 62 with a full bed of poli, I was ok in my late teens but in my 20s my arm just said no more. I wish you would have been around back then with all of this amazing info, It would have saved me a lot of pain

      Dude, should I switch from PureDrive 2015 55 lbs string tension no dampener to another model? I used to compete here in Colombia in my teens but now I only play 3 times a week. I'm in my 20's. Thanks for the info.

    • @aleluya357
      @aleluya357 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andresfelipevalbuenagelvis2415 It will mainly depend on a few factors. the First factor is what kind of string are you using, 55lb is actually not bad if you’re using multifilament or synthetic gut. If youre using a Poly bed or hybrid 55 is not crazy high but it is on the high side, if your arm is filling it too much id try going down a tad to 52 or so and trying a softer poly string that might be more arm friendly. the next and most important factor is how it feels for you, Im assuming from what I wrote that I feels too responsive (like you lack control). In which case lower tension and softer strings might help your arm but make it more unwieldy, at which point id definitely recomended switching to something you feel fully comfortable with the gen 3 purestrike is a good bet if you like the feel of babolat, id definately demo some other brands, yonex E-zone is a fantastic option. Hope this helps good luck and good playing.

    • @user-be5qg7mr1s
      @user-be5qg7mr1s ปีที่แล้ว

      yea that would destroy your arm and elbow. Pure drive should be used with a low tension poly. like 52 lbs with hyper G or Cyclone. Easy power, spin, and good control

  • @sjjapp
    @sjjapp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It does still depend on your style though, how you look to construct points and what you're willing to boost/sacrifice. A pure aero or pure drive is totally viable at the very, very highest levels of the sport, so long as it fits your style of play. But for sure, a lot of people as they get better, certainly those who play more straight up tennis, a more control protected racket can and often is better.

  • @eddiegoodman8411
    @eddiegoodman8411 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Silly to try to isolate frames for college kids. Play with what you like. At the end of the day if you can consistently hit the ball in the center of your frame with a somewhat neutral face you will have a good outcome. High level players do this with much more consistency which is why they're high level players.

      I disagree, I reckon the racquet makes a huge difference and if you can start with a good one you have a big advantage.
      But that's just me though, I'm no expert.

    • @eddiegoodman8411
      @eddiegoodman8411 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tomr6955 Ill start by saying I am also not an expert or a D1/high level player. But I disagree, I DO NOT think the racquet makes a huge difference. What makes a huge difference is timing, athleticism, consistency, shot selection, movement, spacing, etc etc etc. These are the attributes that got players to the D1 level, not their racquet. I think there should be thought given to what racquet a player plays with but it is very individual and thus why I think its silly to say "these are top racquets for college players" lol they've been playing for years already to get to that point why does enrolling in college mean you need a new frame (and specifically these frames mention in the video) - unless you sell them of course :)

    • @tomr6955

      For me at least the racquet really helps or hinders my game, on the times I've played with other racquets.

    I love your channel and I think these are great choices. I would have to disagree about the Pure Strike, though. As a college player and user of the Pure Strike 18x20 I think it’s a very advanced racquet. I would not say the 18x20 is an easy transition and ESPECIALLY not easy to generate spin with the 18x20. I’d say the power level is pretty low as well. To be able to use the 18x20 you need to have a nice full swing and you need to provide the power yourself. The 16x19 would be an easier transition I’d say. I would agree with that. I just wanted to let you know about the 18x20 Pure Strike, because I know most people just compare it to the 16x19, but it’s really not. I’ve used both and they are two different racquets. Much love!

    Hi Tennis spin I wanted to comment on your statement where you said that players usually graduate into players frames. I personally disagree with this and the biggest evidence is look at some of the best players in the world Federer and Nadal. They use rackets with an open string pattern plus lead tape. Nadals racket is the furthest thing from a players frame and yet he’s one of the titans of the sport and has dominated an entire surface that being clay. Do you think he would’ve been able to be as successful with some blade 95 18x20? Or a pro staff 90? No way! And even Federer’s racket has 6 mains in the throat which can be more powerful and launchy compared to an EZONE 98 with 8 mains in the throat. Even that guy Lucas Pouille I’m probably spelling his name wrong but he changed from a Prince 18x20 to a Pure drive! I believe that control comes from your technique and skills learned on court, NOT from a racket. Again this is just my two cents as the point you’re trying to make is brought up frequently with the racket loving types and I understand bc i am one haha. That being said I still appreciate the content you’re putting out and I hope you’re doing well during these tough times. Peace

    I'm currently playing with an Head Speed MP. I've started playing a few months back this year after I stopped playing. Played 9 Years in total. I feel like the Head Speed gives me too much power sometimes. I've tested the Blade v6 but I felt like it actually had like zero power to it. Currently thinking about the Wilson Blade v7, the yonex vcore 98 or thee yonex vcore pro 97. I just want a little less power and more control than with my speed, but not like zero power that I felt with the Blade v6. Any recommendations? (Playing one handed backhand, mostly playing topspin)

      Gravity pro is less powered than the speed and is my racket of choice. I've tried the pure strike and still abit powerful for a control stick.

    • @ngvietquan
      @ngvietquan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which version of the Speed MP are you playing? Try the Gravity MP if it's available for demo in your area. It's less powerful and more control than the Speed MP, with a string bed and head size that allow you to generate lots of topspin. And it's much more comfortable than the Speed MP.
      Also, if you haven't, play around with your string and tension setup to see if you can improve it without changing racquet.
