The quality of the video is laughable at present time, but the content and truly great information regarding the product is what makes an MKBHD video a great video
We're almost 10 years later and I'm still using them on my main computer.. they're really the best cheap piece of tech I ever invested in ahah
we purchased this and the music quality is very great. we even attached it to our Samsung LED TV.
it has a very clean sound especially for music, Im using this while watching this.
Nice review the bass sound was so great it almost shake my room.

It makes the bass stronger, but less precise.
So ist up to you if you like fast or big bass more.
those speakers are awesome ! heavy bass and smooth as hell mids.

@Sykoze This is just a 28 w RMS speaker ... sometimes we blame the speakers for producing less sound rather than we thought, if you want to increase the volume to maximize efficiency, better buy another sound card or install some sound enhancement software for ur speakers. Just remember to postion ur speakers at a right space and angle.

I just got this, and the bass really is good on this (unless you're some audiophile at the extreme side). For normal and average users, this is great enough! The bass can be very powerful so turning it less than half and nearly maxing the treble (for me) is good enough. This is really loud enough too! Well worht the price. DO NOT LISTEN to the extreme audiophiles because they can be really harsh and they hear what we average users don't. For most of us, it doesnt really matter. Good base!

So is the only place to turn the speakers off is behind the sub? Cause if it's on the floor, that might be inconvenient to get to.

hi rues, sid from india..thanks for the review of octane 7. a quick question...i had altec lansing vs4121 for 6 years now and finally the sub woofer gave up..i m so used to the sound of these that i just don't wanna go for any other brand but altec..so in comparison to my vs4121 hows the octane 7.....better or lower than the current one.? awaiting
@iBrandEn The subwoofer box has some kind of amp in it to bring them up to 40 watts, but I'm sure there's an adapter for 3.5mm jacks somewhere if you don't have the right kind of amp.
Would you recommend these over Edifier M3200?
These speakers are pretty good, but bass gets distorted at higher volumes. I'm going for the Logitech Z623's when I get the money.

@RSIX90 i have both the octane 7 and VS4621. The VS4621 is good enough! LOUD, good base, more compact, smaller sub woofer, but a good sounding speaker. the Octane is a little more than what the VS4621 has. Without mdinign the price, the Octane 7 is the winner. If you wish to save, go with the VS4621.
Hey man, i need a bit of help with my set. Ive got these and Im pretty sure ive hooked em up properly(Left and right speakers to appropriate jacks on the sub, main input from sub to speakers Out(green) on cpu) but the right speakers are SUPER low volume. Like the left speaker(i.e. the one with no knobs) has great sound and the sub's pretty great too, but I cant hear a thing from my right speaker(i.e. the one with knobs). Any help is appreciated. TIA.
I faced the same problem dude but the only difference is with my LEFT ones [One with no controller] Dude what did u apply for solutions??

These are like a remake of my VS4121's I got 5 years ago. Same setup and all, just in a different package and my system will rock the place if I decide to crank it up. Only thing I like about mine better is the power button is on the right satellite instead of behind the sub

Is this a newer version of the Altec Lansing ATP3? How do they compare I wonder?
Got mine and gave them because they wren't that good, at least not for people who really notice details and all. For an average consumer I'd say that these will be good.
I have this speaker when i want to buy i have much more budget but this cheap speaker is available so i brought this speaker still working more then 10 years
got this on sale for 50$ CAD, looks nice and performs remarkably, recommended.

Alright. I have these speakers and I use them all the time. The sound quality is amazing, but the bass just doesn't cut it. The review clearly doesn't explain how it fails to hit those lows, because it really doesn't hit them well at all. It stops hitting at around 90Hz after doing a bass test on solid floor. Also, the bass will be distorted if you play the speakers too loud and it has that awkward distorted thump. Also, the wattage of the sub woofer (RMS) isn't so high.
So beside all these cool speakers, I'm guessing you already sent those beats?
I have this, you just have to low or mid the bass depending on your music or video cuz the woofer is so good....
yeah as long as the t.v. has a 3.5mm jack, i have mine hooked up to the t.v and i use the right speaker aux for my laptop.
@EpikFaile i,d say at its power rating this one hits harder and its bass is also tighter than the FX but the vs vs4121 has got more pounding power compared to these set.

so is the aux port on the speaker an input or output? in the review you say you connected a droid to it, but you also commented that headphones can connected to the speakers.

whats the difference between front aux and rear aux input? Used to connect phone with rear aux wire but it seem to producing buzzing sound all the time. I changed to front aux input and at the moment it works fine.

How big is the actual disk on the sub, like the plastic bit?
These are like a remake of my VS4121's which are 5 years old and my speaker system throws out mega bass if I turn it up. Basically they're the same thing in a different package. The VS4121's have the power button on the right satellite though.

I have no idea why everyone satellite speakers broke I've had mine a few years now and I can't fault a thing. Apart from the fact that even when I turn the sub woofer all the way down to the bottom it still produces bass, I have no idea why but it's irritating.
are these speakers are worth buying? cuz im planning to buy one.. and can i connect my phone to play a song with that speakers? or for ipods only? please reply :)

So i am looking at these on amazon and i was looking at a review and it said that the speakers come with all the wires needed for setup, now do you think this person is just talking about speaker to sub wires or what? im just wondering if i need to buy some wires while i am on amazon. @picketfences1000 No, when I first downloaded it, the sound quality was great, and there was a lot of sound coming out. Lately there's nothing. I switched to a Logitech X-540 5.1 surround system, and I'm getting better sound output.

Anyone who is looking to buy computer speakers, take a look at the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system. I own one and the bass is unbelievable. The midsound speakers are great to. For 149.99, the Klipsch promedia is the best choice possible

@marquesbrownlee StudioMonitors come up too expensive!i know cause i got a pair 2 years ago,They do provide a high quality sound but they lack in volume most times,i end up getting2x250WattPA speakers 12inch(cheaply,Audiophony)with an audiophony2x250amplifier and i am currently using an SPL sub-woofer in a custom cabin driven by a JBL500W car amplifier powered by a 12Volt50Amps PowerSupply,all connected to a VMC-004XLmixer.cost me1200€BUT it rocks! wanna see?
Still rocking this on my TV. And realize voice aren't so clear. Had to use subtitle on some videos.

The bass line is not coming through the video full stop! I have in ear headphones with extension to 10 Hz, so that isn't to blame.
hey man just for it its quality is good even i connected to my tv good sound response the bass is clean but it distort in some some like heavy bass or very deep bass othervise they r good for laptop also just go for it
