Many thanks for posting this. I recall seeing June performing this and similar tunes at Oswaldtwistle Town Hall in the wilds of Lancashire sometime in the early 1990s. And I probably still have that tape somewhere as well. June is a fabulous singer who has successfully made the unusual transition from folk to jazz. It's worth checking out her more recent work with Quercus - again featuring the wonderful piano playing of Huw Warren. The legendary Joe Boyd who set up Hannibal Records, which released this, knew quality when he heard it.
Hey guys! I cant believe I made it to this record when I was checking different versions of the song. Wow. Nonetheless, i came here to listen Pork Pie Hat! Does someone know where I can get an online version of it? Like on spotify or youtube? I cant seem to find the album anywhere :O
My ma had this amazing album on tape in the 1990s... at some point I "borrowed" it and listened to it on my Walkman non-stop for a while. Before playing this vid I tried to sing her first few notes, and got the right key, so I guess it's permanently etched in my brain :)
@@Timturpinfleck17642 I managed to pick up a CD copy since posting my earlier comment, and found an amazing song on it that I think was excluded from the tape release: "Pork Pie Hat". Totally unexpected (and welcome) after listening to the tape for all those years!

It was a beautiful album and I wish I still had a copy (I had it on tape too)
