This is my eight-year-old self's ultimate dream! What wonderful buried treasure! Thanks so much for sharing.
My god what I'd give to be a part of such a dig!
@@stephenbahrmarbles soooo how does one get to partake in something like this? Can u pay an admission?
@@scottdenn5545 I hear ya Scott...I'd love to do this...it was just a few years ago!!!!
Nothing like this have I ever seen. Marbles by the buckets.
Oh my a dream.dirt and shiny awesomeness, that action on the vain mother load was just priceless, thanks uploading ♠️
Anything glass house related is going to be a great dig. A true once in a lifetime experience to dig at a marble factory though! (That butt marble at the 7:15 mark is hilarious)
I've had the privilege of digging at two glasshouses that made window pane and coach glass. (One of which was one of the first union movements in the U.S.) Some of the cullets that were found were bigger than a brick.
Wow cool Evom ! I would think if you are in glass-making county, you could have some opportunities like that. I’m sure you have some fantastic pieces !
Wow! That was just great! You all must’ve felt like you were in heaven! The pockets of marbles were amazing! I loved all of them. The light blue ones and the berry ones were beautiful! Nice pictures. Thanks for taking us along:)

Stephen, your videos are such a valuable asset to the marble collecting community. It looks like there are lots of collectors and collector groups in the Midwest. I'm in rural California. No marble clubs anywhere near me. I don't even know of any other collectors in my area, so your videos really help me feel connected to other marble enthusiasts.
What a treat. Those boys looked like they needed some Motrin after this dig. I'm sure they enjoyed themselves
Definitely a long day Lee, we’ll worth it though 🔴
Wow! What a great video Stephan. Thanks again for taking us on along on your adventure. Those marbles are all smokers! That honey hole blew me away, and Now I want to go digging. 😀🍯
That was great video. I would have loved to have been there. I happy for all those who did get the chance.
Thanks Eric. It was a fantastic day
Fabulous video Steve
Well done mate
You’ve inspired me to find out where marbles where made in Australia n go for a dig
very interesting video and a marble digger/collector's dream! would be great to have someone bbq a whole hog for the event. great content.
Oh what an adventure! This would be sooooo fun! I used to dig for bottles and when I clear an area for my gardens I always find a ton of Native American artifacts (I leave them around my garden on shelves and in a couple areas out of respect - I find literary, rock tools, arrowheads etc here in Enola Arkansas)
That’s cool Hydrolized! I’ve never found an Indian artifact from digging, I have found a few fossils though. I am editing a similar video now on a Cairo marble dig and tour. I think you might like it. Thanks for watching!
Incredible video, Stephen! I was at this dig but apparently not when you were filming. I think I was there the day before. I've been able to ID a few of my marbles with the help of your marble identification at the end. It would be amazing if you did more Heaton ID videos!
@@stephenbahrmarbles yes, he’s my older brother!
excellent adventure, Stephen! thanks for sharing. gotta go dig through my swirls again now, lol.
This video was absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing.

O man that Is a true treasure trove ❤ wow if only!!!
Right Chad ! Pretty crazy event for sure! 🔵
@@stephenbahrmarbles ow absolutely I am fortunate enough to have just got my hands on some Heatons 50 + with David tamulevich signature so I couldn't be more happy 😊 and excited 😀 I just love everything with marbles and the history it's absolutely amazing probably the best thing in the world hands down!!
pulchritudinous - glad i had a chance to buy some of this marble history ,
I now have two shelves full of Heaton from these digs, have most of the named Heatons now, minus the aventurine Heatons but those are nearly impossible to come by.
terrific Insert , some types are obviously very hard to find !
OMG!! Id kill or die to just have some of that cullet! LOL! Beautiful stuff!
Ahhh, I NEED to dig for marbles!!!!!
Nice marble colors
Absolutely Fabulous ✨
I've been watching this dig and I am jealous. I don't collect marbles per se I just think it'd be fun. However, I DO collect uranium and cadmium glass and can't help but think "How many of these glow?". I'd be out there with a trunk full of buckets and a sluice to grab myself some cullets and scraps! And a few marbles too I guess, since I'm there ;)
The ones with the “dirty white “ Vitrolite cullet glow, they have uranium. Some of the yello glass will glow orange, I suppose that would be cadmium.
Makes my tummy hurt.. makes me want them.. ALL OF THEM 😃
😂
This was brill getting to see the work in action, never seen this backstage work taking place! The thermometers and everything.. incredible!
Beautiful finds! My favorites were the Heaton Oysters
Awesome dig!
Can we set up a field trip... 😁 i cant believe all the info you give.. thank you
So cool.
That looks like so much fun
Hello Stephan, this is so wonderful, do these digs continue? I want to go too
Hi..has this property been completely dug? I would like to help if it ever happens again..my kind of fun!
That looks like it would be a blast!
Wow what a awsome privilege that must have been!
Thanks Corene, it certainly was 💯
Absolutely Awesome!
Thanks Deborah !💥
Wow just wow.
Incredible !
Love the way they leave us Clueless! As to how they got down in the ground?
They got dumped by the factory, for different reasons. Like many of the other company grounds, it wasn’t uncommon back in the day. They were the cheapest toys you could make.
I would of loved to been there digging for those
damn all them marbles.....out of the ground
great dig im jealous
Wow! Take me with you!
A bit envy I wasn't invited 😂😂😂 bit on another note.... Who in there right mind would want to pave over such a unique part of treasured history. I'm dumbfounded!!! 🤔🤷 Why, just why....
Ohh. What a dream time! But why didnt anyone bring a section dredge or high banker!!??
@@stephenbahrmarbles I got one pound of each Heaton and Cairo dug. I always feel like I'm slicing for gold when in washing a new box of junk marbles or old yard sale stash. Then I saw that hole.
I found an oddball peltier banana dark brown colored
Rip Ron! God speed!
Amen Septic Guy 🌟❤️
Was the area paved over and if so why? Is there a store there now or they extended the parking lot?
Not sure what the exact status is , but there is new owners of the property.
PULCHRITUDINOUS
Why are there so many in the ground, instead of being sold,or remelted?
There’s a few reasons: Marbles were among the cheapest toys you could make. If the company didn’t like the marbles for whatever reason - fracturing/imperfections/ bad color combo - they would discard them. I’ve heard stories that if a crew made their perdeum and had excess , they could also be dumped. Sometimes they were purposely used as backfill! These companies and employees had no idea that they would be collectors items decades later.
@@stephenbahrmarbles And I guess they were rural areas that didn't have trash pick up and why drive to local dump when you could just dump them off the dock...and I just thought of it,that to remelt them you would end up with just mud colored glass I would assune...thank you for all the videos, just started collecting after buying a lamp filled with old marbles...kinda obsessed right now! Lol
Yes you’re right, remelt starts to get murky and dark . Thank you for watching the vids and I hope you enjoy your marble collecting journey. It can get fairly addictive ! 🔴
Hello Stephen I just started collecting marbles and want to be able to go dig for them but I have no clue how to find any spots to dig for them or who to contact to ask where to dig for them
@@stephenbahrmarbles oh well that sucks that that site was closed but I’ll start searching around for dumpsites near me to go and search
Surely they don’t come out like that. Are these from previous company that was there. More explanation?
Most all of the pieces were made by Heaton or C.E. Bogard. There were a few other companys represented in very small numbers. I will be putting out a video at some point explaining a lot more of the items found over several digs.
Ty so much ! Signed Wayne S
I wonder why they're buried.
UV there were probably a lot of reasons. Sometimes they were considered rejects and just tossed outside. Marbles were the cheapest toy you could make, so they were also used as backfill. There’s other scenarios…
How do I get in on this!?
😊
I want to do this!!!!!
Yes! Please keep in mind it’s private property. The owners are having difficulty with marble poachers there lately.
💖💖💘💘❤❤
💯
Why digging in the dark
WTF why in one spot?
Do you know if you "as a tourist" Could just go here and did? In 2023?
Hi Stang , the property has been sold and from what I understand it is illegal to dig there.
@stephenbahrmarbles oh wow, glad you got to experience this and share with us. I'm new to collecting and your videos are very educational.
Thank you Stang ! I hope you enjoy the hobby , lots of fun things to explore with marbles!
Why are so many mibs there? The factory just dumped 1000s of them there? I guese they were rejects. Unreal.
Hi Barry , back then marbles were the cheapest toys you could make. Lots of odd reasons for dumping them, but these companies had no idea there would be people like us collecting and admiring them for their art, several decades later.
coolio
I just can’t even watch
I understand
@@stephenbahrmarbles But I did watch lol
Why didn't everyone have a mask on?lol
