I heard this way before I ever heard the Sugarcubes one, so I actually like this one better. Thanks for uploading. Also, for the people complaining... They did this in like one take in one day when they had to knock out some B-Sides. They didn't think that much about it. Not like they were trying to make the best cover in the world.
why in gods name didnt cedric wig out on the chorus? he could have let his vocal ability rip. sure, they probably went for the unconventional, unexpected route, but how droll to choose to do it on such a potential filled song like this, by having effects distort and smother his natural voice :( sad times. alas...who am i?
all right, 'sort of shot' is a strong. he could definitely still sing, like the way he goes nuts on the album version of Cotopaxi. but listen to cedric live in like 2010. within a certain range he sounded fine but outside of that you can tell he was struggling and that something had changed. i think cedric's been having vocal problems, albeit small ones, since at least the recording of bedlam. there are unfinished mix versions of Agadez and Askepios and to my ears he sounds a little rough on them. also, like all of his bedlam vocals are way processed and i think part of that was to compensate for some audible shakiness. i think he would've stayed true to bjork's vocal if he could have, but maybe they tried in studio and he just couldn't
Now, he that listens to a mars Volta cover of bjork and the subscribed birthday, I gotta hand it to ya Eggy, you got some sense of taste. The original video was obscene because it showed her, but this got taste
im sorry i just saw the bjork video of this before and i was breathless, and to hear the bubbly electronic crap over the chorus on this version just made me buurst out laughing. epic fail. other than that ok.
The Mars Volta playing in a major key!
In 4/4!
I’d kill for a sugar cubes reunion, so many amazing underrated songs.
Cedric Bjorkxler Zavala
Cedric really does love Björk lol
I love both versions.
I love the opening high hats. It caught my attention the very first time I heard it :) I listen to it everyday
Great cover. I love cedrics vocals here. The chorus is weird but I've actually grown to love it
I wish someone would make a mashup with Cedric and Björk performing this as a duet trading lyrics.
Love pridgeon’s drumming on this. Free flowing but constrained at the same time. He’s a g

Wow they did a whole bunch of covers along with the Bedlam recording I never actually knew how many.
i had no idea they did a bjork cover
I guarantee Bjork would like this version.
fucking cedric is amazing in this.
This is beautiful! Such lushousness!
Luciousness*
This is so good. So good. I love you guys
The verses are pretty much spot on. I love cedric's voice. Great tribute to Björk. The chorus is. Yea. Not great. But whatever

cedric's voice was already sort of shot by then
ARE U INSANE/DEAF?
oh, bless you.

+Lauren Marie i dunno if anyone could top the bjork chorus... definitely a cop out there by cedric but i don't blame him
yeah no not about topping but his singing abilities are on her level for sure
Wow, I've always loved Sugarcubes and TMV -- this made my day!
best cover, there is still this 'feeling' in it! The inpertation is different but stiil there !
I so love this song...¡! ❤😎💋

It isn't bjork but it's definitely a solid cover.

The b-side disc for Bedlam.

Happy birthday! ❤💋
too many effects. the song gets lost. maybe that's what they were going for, but i don't think it quite works. he has a beautiful voice though.
@SpidersUnderSkin I guess I'm just that amazing! :-)
noise
@hallowedpredator
Forreal! Even I can do the chorus
What album is this
It's the second track on The Bedlam In Goliath's B-Sides
1:04
Sugarcubes cover, Björks starting band.
Actually it wasn’t her starting band at all
She was in Spit and Snot, then Exodus, then Jam80, and then Tappi Tíkarrass, before the Sugarcubes were a thing.😊
Oh an Kukl too
im sorry i just saw the bjork video of this before and i was breathless, and to hear the bubbly electronic crap over the chorus on this version just made me buurst out laughing. epic fail. other than that ok.
17 know nothing...
does anyone know who is the main vocalist here? i cannot believe it's a man. was there a guest female vocalist? just curious. i prefer the original.
He sings in a falsetto for The Mars Volta ~ Cedric Bixler Zavala...!!! 💞💋🚬😎💋
Leave the Sugarcubes alone!
No. I’m a massive Bjork fan and I’ve seen her live 17 times and you should just shush
Too much noise, but otherwise tasteful.
and ruined.
