I've come to enjoy this video much more than I did at first. Seeing each of the five members leading a gang of "their kind of people" from school is fun: the church kids, the trying-to-be-cool kids, the nerds, and so on. And the rap was adjusted from the original so it was really about PTX and their journey and how nobody could hold them down.
Avi and Kevin became very close as soon as they joined PTX for the Sing Off in 2011. They were roommates for a while, which allowed them lots of time to work on their synergy. They basically did become brothers, and they're still very close, staying in touch frequently. (And Avi was at Kevin's wedding last year.)
I wonder how their relationship is after the "legal issues" that delayed the release of Happy Now and the work on the original album. From what I can tell, they had a bit of a custody battle over the children (aka their songs). Not unusual to have custody issues with your ex.

It would seem like the "Happy Now" album is way far away enough from Avi's departure that he wouldn't have been involved in those songs. I could be wrong, since I don't listen to newer PTX stuff. But I know Kevin sometimes pops in on Avi's livestream chats, and there are happy greetings (Kevin's wife Leigh does, too). As for any interaction with the other 4, I haven't heard of anything.

Basically that tweet said that Avi had filed some sort of legal motion squashing the release of several original songs that had been written and was planning to continue to squash the release so we would never get to hear these songs. Scott didn't confirm or deny that; he just said they were working on more original songs. It's not what they said or did. It's what they didn't say and didn't do and where they decided to not do or say it. and, thinking about it, Avi did write some of the songs and helped arrange others. It's not unreasonable to think there could be issues regarding who has the rights to what.

I've watched dozens of reactions to this song and I've never heard anyone mention the beatboxing! The high note you mentioned sounds like Kirstin. Another thing no one has mentioned! You have a good ear. :)
I think that high note you heard was Avi singing overtone. He can literally hold a low note and do whistle notes at the same time. Search Avi Kaplan overtone.
PTX has a way of making you love songs you don't care for lol. My child loves PTX too, but struggles with songs getting stuck in her head all day love & so she's dramatic like "Not again" as she's dancing and humming haha

Oh dear lord ... I think I just woke up my neighbours up CACKLING LIKE A HYENA at your comment about Avi's hips. I grew up in South Africa and I have heard hyenas cackling - trust me ... I sounded just like them. Next thing I know the neighbours will report me to animal control, people in uniforms will be knocking on my door, and shit will get real! "This is animal control - send out the hyenas!!" On a side note: I once went into an animal pen containing 1 year old hyenas (2 of them). They made a beeline for me. I realised too late that I really should not have been wearing brand new leather shoes. I don't know if you have ever had a year old hyena sniffing your feet and then progressing to nibbling your feet? 🙄 It shall never happen again.

I notice that Fleetstreet has given you a pretty comprehensive rundown of PTX rapping songs, so I’ll give you a Home Free one instead: they covered This Is How We Roll by Florida Georgia Line. The video is a spoof of a movie I’ve never watched called The Big Lebowski. Remember in their Guilty Pleasures skit when Tim makes Austin promise to never rap again? Well, in This Is How We Roll, Austin finally raps, woohoo 🥳! It’s so funny 🤣

QoFyReacts just rewatched their cover of No by Meghan Trainor courtesy of another reactor, and I was reminded that not only is there the rapping element that Mitch does, but there’s so much else, you’ll love the beat and bass, Avi&Kevin KILL IT! And if you want babyPTX, check out Gangnam Style. That one has a short but separate bloopers video, they just couldn’t hold it together when filming their outtro, it’s hilarious 😂! So when you watch Gangnam Style, watch their outtro, and then the bloopers video as well. You won’t regret it 😉!
