I always enjoy your Pentatonix reactions so much, because you are one of the rare reactors who actually LISTENS and picks up details of arrangement and performance -- when something delights you like the trio trade-off in "Gold" or the bell-tones in "New Rules etc.", that makes me happy because they delight me too. I think we hear similarly. I think you would get even more fun out of the second number if you acquaint yourself with the original individual songs "New Rules" and "Are You That Somebody", because PTX uses the beat pattern of the second song underneath the tune of the first one. What a great way to mimic the sampling bounce, one or two words each, and that note Kirstie sings that changes the chord... their arrangements are SICK. I love their blend especially when they do a swelling note, they breathe together. You have a good ear, Sir. 🤗

Yes, everyone is surprised at the end when they split the part up into three (it just shows how in sync the trio can be). Especially after Mitch covers all three octaves his own the first three times most reactors have to go back and listen to end over again. As for the bell tones, it's Mitch, Kirstie, Scott, Mitch again (but very lightly).

I also love how you describe or explain how PTX doesn’t leave any “gaps” in the flow of their music. They have such a sophistication with all their projects. Sometimes for fun I like to look at two of their videos from their first year following their start on TH-cam, one is We Are Ninjas (advertising for the Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie in 2014 and Cruising for a Bruising in 2013). You should look at both during the same reaction, they are shorter presentations but so much fun. They are such babies but you can see their evolution starting!

I always love reactors that catch and love my favorite parts of their arrangements and you did both! The switching in Gold and the bell tones in New Rules/Are You That Somebody (which was actually an Aaliyah song, produced by Timbaland - PTX used that beat over New Rules). In Gold, PTX uses the switching to make it sound like the vocals are more computerized. If you hear the original Gold, that part is all computers. They did the same thing in their Daft Punk medley. It always amazes me!

Beyoncé didn’t do this it was actually a mash up of New Rules by Dua Lipa and Are you that Somebody by Aaliyah. If you want to see them do Beyoncé they have an evolution of Beyoncé also done live in the recording studio. All their evolutions are great. They also have Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Ariana Grande and evolution of Music. Or if you want to check out Superfruit ( Mitch and Scott’s side project) they also have a Beyoncé medley worth reacting to.

When they do the bell tones the first and third times, they're dotted notes, and I think the third one actually hits at the same time as Matt's bass note, so you only hear the three. But on the second (and fourth) run, they're just regular quarter notes, so his bass note hits right after the third, making it sound like a fourth.
I have listened to 100 reactors, and listened to this song myself that many times, and you are the first to notice the bouncing back and forth. I'm ashamed of myself for not noticing that earlier.
