It's cold and wet in the UK at the moment, with worse to come. My bags are packed for a 3 month rest in manila. Can't wait to have a rest from work too. For me, the hardest part of learning tagalog is remembering everything, being older (55) my memory retention is shockingly poor. Anyway, I thought I'd let you know that I enjoyed your vlog.
Congratulations and welcome to the Philippines. I arrived here on Christmas 2023 for my retirement from USA.Got married here in 1998 to my wife and vowed to return for retirement. I can think of no other place in the world that I would rather be. To me the Philippines is the closest thing to heaven that you can be without dying.
You are correct! As we grow older, we don’t care about material things. Most important is good health as Good Health is wealth😊; living simply, at peace & nothing to worry about is happiness🥰
Enough money to travel and live in multiple places throughout the year. Typhoon inbound, jump on a plane, and vacation for a week. To each their own, but not worrying about money or always looking at the price of everything is liberating. "I wish I had less money," said almost no one.
Good on ya. I'm contemplating returning back to Canada after 10 years in Asia. I sometimes think it's unwise but heck there is always a chance to return. What you're speaking in your video is something that needs to be more deeply understood in the west.
I don’t care about things either, what I do care about is living a happy life, being able to travel that’s a big thing in my life. I travel Asia every couple months. I go to the U S for a month every year.
You become a rich man since you left the rat race and moved to the Philippines where you can enjoy being among those who love you. En français maintenant : la vue de l’imposant Mount Mayon est magnifique. Stay healthy and happy.
Is that Mayon behind you? Nice. - I have an answer for this **oh I just reached the part where you said you're in Albay** cool I'm in Naga. Oh Sir, this threshold has changed... Rich in the Philippines means you have at least 325k/mo. But for me, being rich is really having at least 25million. - 3M for a nice car - 4M for a good enough home - 5M support a kid or two until they are 18 years old - 5M save at least 1 loved one from a terminal illness (or at least prolong their life) - 3M selfish luxuries (motorcycles, billiard table, - remaining 5M contingency fund until you die. I respect you for saying being rich is not a purely financial thing but ever since my mother contracted a terminal illness it set a number inside my head of what number I need to reach in order to feel that people can depend on me, and I can "heal or kill people at will" (metaphor). I hope you have a good retirement; you look like you've lived a full life. *Also for those of you who aren't old yet, remember this video is being recorded by a guy who had won life. For us who are still trying to make it, the cars, the watches and other status symbols are *required* if you want to go up in ranks. Life is recursion, you expand first before you can come back to a simple life. Heroes journey is a real thing.
In the Philippines being rich is no big deal. I guess you could have 5 Ayalas and build in Alabang or South Forbes or Greenfield. However you can build anywhere, even farm lots or in the Barrio. Or buy some penthouse in Makati. Or just rent. So as a foreignor nobody really cares.
It depends who's eyes are looking at you depends if one is rich some struggle to put petrol in there service and eat to them we are rich. We payed cash for our house our second hand car and our tuktuk to every one in our burangay we are rich. Every philippino that have good house good car it is bank loan and the intrest rate here is cruel. If you want to buy a 60k motor bike after three years it will cost 100k.
I also bought my car 2nd hand, it cost 335k. The house i paid for in cash. But now that I'm retired early, I live on a tight budget and I'm okay with that.
@ChasingTheSun1967 If you are monetized you make some but some of my buddies are having million views on YT channel and FB. Good luck. Generally 2USD and up for 1k views. 🥃😱🤔
Every country has it "mega-wealthy" worth into the billions of dollars. There is no comparison, so dont bother. i'd say in practically most, if not all billionaires (especially in developing and frontier countries) got theirs via alot of unethical, manipulative, corruptive, etc practices. aka ill gotten gains. the PI is a textbook classic example of this, combining nepotism, cronyism, etc. imo, the dysfunction is "off the charts", akin to hordes medieval peasants, and the uber-rich aristocracy/nobility/royalty. pathetic, disgusting, and repulsed are a few words that come to mind.
Agree 100%. Money isn't everything as we get older. enjoyment means more.
Money 💰 is very important but not everything. It gives you a freedom to do what you want.
Being rich is being able to do anything you want, travel anywhere, live anywhere and eat anywhere.
good video .

Thanks Thomas. I'm loving life here. Amen to that.
Tell that to the scammers. They're salivating at the mouth.😊

Freezing here in the UK. I envy your weather Craig. Thanks for your video and keep enjoying your retirement with your family.
Great video...may I ask what is the name of the Volcano ?
Mayon
@@ChasingTheSun1967 thank you !
Nice view of Mayon volcano there.

Yep like I said too, each to their own. But I'd rather be not working and living a simple life than chained to my desk for money. 👍
@@ChasingTheSun1967 I am talking about retired life.

Follow your instincts and like you said, you can always return.
Rich is being happy, and comfortable with your surroundings ... You just enjoy ...
Absolutely 💯
The older you get the less you care about impressing other people. My Timex reads the same time as my Rolex did.
Too true!
Wow, you are rich! Loving family and having mortgage free home with postcard view of Mayon. Count your blessings and enjoy.
I'm counting them every day Vera ❤️

Simple living in the provinces is good, near beaches, fresh Foods, walking exercise
Love it

Sorry to hear about your mother. My stepfather recently passed after contracting leukemia. It's another reason why I chose to retire early. Ingat ❤️
Foreigners in the Philippines are generally poor bec. they wont be there if they are actually rich in the west.
That's a bit of a blanket statement

By the way I invest in dividend paying stocks that gives you a level of freedom.
