    Lifting dividing and propagating Cannas
This could be done in autumn but I prefer to do this in spring before the new growth starts.

You should grow Tasmanian Mountain Pepper. Interesting spice, nice looking evergreen. The plant has its own unique spicy compound, like hot peppers, horseradish or black pepper have theirs. You can use the leaves or the fruit (male and female are separate plants). Should be completely hardy for you.

I have my cannas in big pots, I've never tried them in the ground. Maybe I should try it! Thanks for sharing your advice 👌👍😊

I dug all mine up last November and put them in pots in the garage because the year before they all died after I left them in the ground. I have just moved them all to the Greenhouse although its not heated it still gives them some protection from potential frost.( Good Job after the Snow today). I had no idea you could divide these up, and as soon as this weather changes I am going to do this to some of mine. Thankyou for the upload Kris.

I dug all mine up and stored them.A couple of weeks ago I sorted through them and discarded about a quarter of them. Now all potted up I am waiting to see what happens.
It will be my second season growing canas.

Hi Kris, great video. I live in Derby added 6 or so Cana to my garden this year. Do you think I can cut back and leave in my raised bed, I can cover with lots of straw to protect from frost, just wasn't sure if they would rot / survive. Thanks loyd

They'll be fine like that in 9 out of 10 winters like that now so should be fine. Drainage and mulch really help get cannas through winter in the ground
