  • I travelled in Nepal as leader of a group of trekkers. We were on the route to Everest Basecamp via the almost 5400 meter high pas of Cho La. I documented this journey with my Hasselblad X2D camera and two Hasselblad lenses; The 45mm p f4 lens and the 90mm f3.2 lens. Furthermore, I had two Canon FD lenses with me, though only one shot with the FD 28mm f2.8 found its way to this video.
    I have published a book with many of my images from a previous trek up the same route. You can find it here together with a lot of my other books: urlis.net/1xrjpj4
    Most images have had no post proces corrections, only those that are used to demonstrate the dynamic range are shown in both a pre proces version as well as a processed version.
    The video contains 100 mpx images, time lapse video, ordinary video (from the Canon camera), and post proces stitched images.

    A really enjoyable video which takes me back to the time I spent in Nepal. Also very pleased to hear that the X2D held out well and did an excellent job on the photography.

      I love Nepal and have spent around 6 years in Nepal in total. I'm coming as leader of two expeditions this year and next year: Mera Peak and Imja Tse. Furthermore, doing the Manaslu circuit with my wife next spring.

      Glad you liked the video. Yes this camera makes me want to photograph even more, both due to its design and the results that come out of it.

    Hello Belvedere! Congratulations on another sage trip! I really enjoyed your presentation and images. I have also found the battery use to be truly excellent. I have two and typically do not get through one regardless of usage. Even when I need to use the camera for extended times. I have a V-mount battery pack and the twin h-charger so it is simple to go for days even if I do need to charge. It is also a nice thing that the camera charges while tethered as well. Beautiful images as usual and really nice to see life there! Bless

      Some have written, that their batteries didn't do too well in low temperatures, but I didn't see any noticeable reduction in battery life in low temp. Have you any experience in that regard?

    • @anthonyrock5039
      @anthonyrock5039 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @key2adventure hello. It has been quite cold here lately in London and while in Canada I performed a rather unscientific test between two trips. I can say that continuous use in temperatures around zero *C has been not much different than room temperature! I have the spare and rarely need to use it. Much much better than my GFX 100s in comparison where I had 4 batteries and world need to change much more frequently.

      If it is cost, that prohibits you trying out this camera, then try the X1D ii second hand. I keep mine, as I still find it awesome, though not as complete and error free as the X2D.

    What power-saving settings did you use? Did you turn off live view the back of the camera? Thanks for the video.

    • @key2adventure
      @key2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, I try to use it as normally as I can. At home I usually don't preview images on the back very much, as I come from analog photography, and still shoot a lot of analog film. Therefore, it is even more amazing that I managed to get through more than three weeks without recharging any of my three batteries.

    Great video! I was lusting over the X2d, but I think I'll stick to my M11, it's just more money thrown away for not really better image quality that I need!

    • @key2adventure
      @key2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes its definitely a lot of money for the X2D, but for me it was worth the investment.

  • @fathampeak
    @fathampeak ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for a great video-I am saving for a X2D or the equivalent (it will be many years), did you wish for wider lenses to give more depth of field (e.g 30mm and 50 mm equivalent)?

    • @key2adventure
      @key2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I would like a very wide angle like a 20-24mm. I do use a Canon 17-40mm via an adapter. Not quite as sharp as a Hasselblad lens, and vignetting from 17-20mm, but from there just very nice. Would prefer a real Hassy lens though they are both expensive and a little on the large and heavy side for my Travel photography.

    Nice job, I was wondering if you had any difficulty on downloading the files, thanks for sharing

    • @key2adventure
      @key2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suppose you mean the firmware update for the camera. No I didn't have any difficulty downloading those, neither installing. Just copied them to the root directory of the SSD on the camera, and followed the procedure described by Hasselblad.

    Yea but when you post it to Instagram nobody can tell if it was shot on an I-phone or 20K worth of gear. ha ha ha

    • @key2adventure
      @key2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well if that is your usecase, then you just stay with iPhone. I use images in high quality art books and make large prints, thus definitely benefitting from the insane resolution. I have tried using iPhone images, but for my use they are totally garbage.

    Easily achieve same results w/your iPHone. Hassy a bit of overkill, no?

    • @key2adventure
      @key2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      I completely disagree. Having shot both iPhone and Hasselblad the last many years and having seen my images in books and enlargements and compared it to the images I can do with my iPhone, these cameras are far beyond what you can do with an iPhone. Yes for youtube it might not make a change, but for the kind of work I do, there is a huge difference. If you only look at your images on screen, and don't care about weird artificial background blur, the iPhone is enough and no camera can make you happier.

    • @anthonyrock5039
      @anthonyrock5039 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you don't mind the difference in having a choice in optical focal lengths, a vast difference in resolution, the extreme difference in battery life and image quality then yes..

    • @Sharkie6637
      @Sharkie6637 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Capture a rather far forest and zoom to 200%, then maybe you'll see why Hasselblad, Sony, and Fujifilm is always superior in Resolution, Quality and Lifetime. Which is why photographers use camera's instead of iPhone camera.

    • @chuknorth
      @chuknorth ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sharkie6637 I've got the best you can buy (Hasselblad, Sony, Fuji). Not disagreeing with you, but then again, it depends on the application. Your application is youtube, or so it appears, hence the iPhone comment.
