To each there own but i have to completely disagree with you. I saw DSO 2 days ago and have seen them a few times before that and have always though they were a solid act but they always felt like a dead cover band and nothing more. JRAD feels different to me, i know technically they both fall into the cover band bucket but from the first time i saw JRAD i was hooked, there is just something very unique in the way that they interpret the Grateful Dead. But again that is just my opinion and you know what they say....opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one and they all stink :) cheers
seandaiger88 yea that's cool I feel the complete opposite way lol I'm not saying they are bad or anything just not for me I don't necessarily like the directions they take the music but everyone is different I just don't get excited to hear them play but I do dark star because it reminds me of the good old days and you are right they are both just cover bands :) I am individually a huge joe Russo and Marco benevento fan though :)
JRAD takes the Dead to an entirely new level of their own, they are constantly pushing the boundaries a little Furthur. They ooze with originality and creativity to the point you really can never be sure what is going to happen next. They take songs no one has ever played together before and transition between them as natural as if it was written that way. Don't give up on them, listen to a full show or two start to finish, they are truly incredible at what they do. It's so much fun trying to guess the songs with all the teasers..
@@deadheaddev3999 I completely agree. If I had to choose one Dead band to follow it would absolutely be JRAD. They're at least 10x more talented and energetic than any other. They seem like they're the next step forward for Grateful Dead music. I'd love to hear a band emerge that would continue making new material exactly as GD would have done had Jerry Garcia just now emerged onto the scene. I'd love to hear a GD-style album of all new material from Billy Strings.
I love these guys! Totally cool. Thanks for posting this.
hornsby would be proud
The Marco-led jam during the end of Terrapin Flyer might be my favorite part. totally unexpected and awesome.
PLEASE PLAY THIS IN PHILLY
When it comes to rock music I don't think I've ever enjoyed hearing an accordion being played, and this song is no exception.
USE AN ACCORDIAN GO TO PRISON... From a shirt on tour in late '90&91 during Bruce Hornsby's time.
thanks for sharing. I was close to the main stage, and could barely hear it, and couldn't see it at all.
ty
Please come to Kalamazoo!

It's definatly not bad just kinda weird to hear terrapin acoustic rather see dark star orchestra any day though

Also, I'm surprised 5 people liked this comment. I'd believe it if you were the only 6 people on the planet who prefers DSO over JRAD.
Man... i love Marco but please put the fuckin accordion down... totally annoying and overbearing lol
I thought it was awesome. More accordion!
