However ”The Letter of the Law” as so often quoted in comments about this, also applies to Law18. The foul that lead up to this, watching it again it’s really questionable as to if that was a foul in the first place. However at the moment it certainly would have looked like one to the ref at the time. With the free kick, firstly the ball was intentionally sent further up the field from the point of where the original offence took place. It should have been brought back. The ball was moving, so a free kick should not have been taken at that moment. Thirdly, it was blatantly clear to Veltman that as he took his kick he would have kicked Rice. You could even question if he was making any attempt to kick the ball, but he definitely intended to kick Rice and it was a sideways blow close to Rice’s knee. Plus so many Brighton players running up calling for that second yellow is an issue that’s been highlighted as a problem in the game before, and is meant to be clamped down on. You could argue this was their attempt to deflect from what everyone could see which was Veltmans deliberate kick. Trying to focus the ref on that tap of the ball by Rice. The red cannot be rescinded as it was due to a second yellow, also Rice did tap the ball away, and it’s a point that the authorities are trying to clamp down on so they cannot have an example rescinded. But this whole saga highlights the need for a whole incident to be thought over by a Ref even just after the heat of the moment. There law 18 is applied. Lol why are arsenal fans so angry about this game. They didn't even play well with 11 players.... Arteta is becoming so defensive , even against Villa, maybe he doesn't want to lose any game thinking that's the only way to beat city but it's killing the teams creativity going forward 😂😂😂😂😂😂
What happened to the player that kicked Rice after he rolled the ball? Are you allowed to kick people in the game
Sterling an Upgrade to Saka ???? wtf is this dude smoking For real ????
Can’t believe these pundits refer football rules as laws! There is no comparison because there is mechanism for appeal, and hence little justice involved! There are few thoughts put into these written rules, and the referees are severely unqualified and incompetent to enforce them. They are applied haphazardly and the commentators have no moral courage to point out the inadequacy of the refereeing body for fear of sanctions. It is plain stupidity!
They are not rules. They are laws. World soccer is governed by the "Laws of the Game" or sometimes called LOTG.
I hope the next time somebody tries to “delay the restart” against us gets caught by the ref and gets a yellow card. I wonder if it will happen……..
the guy on the far right is a clown
Maybe it's time to take the Saudi Pro League more seriously! Im sure they have better officiating there ....
Howard Webb with explanation was only a reflection of his past, just biased, the league has issues to sort
The ball moving is irrelevant.. If Rice booted that ball out of the stadium, he would still get the yellow..Soft yes but still a yellow in the eyes of the law
Don't be daft, if we're following "the letter of the law" you can't take a free kick until the ball stops moving, so Rice didn't interfere with the free kick
@HazeFC. Dude use your brain. It's not about the free kick but time wasting..
You are a hypocrite
For siding the rules? Ok then@@ansumanacamara9335
It’s very relevant. A free kick can’t be taken with a moving ball,
More than half the reds were poor decisions
yeah, we just want a fair and just game. nothing preposterous, just a good and honest game.. are arsenal that much of a threat, because that would mean we will never achieve greatness. manager mikel arteta will always be opposed. it is not fair going to a game when the boys and our manager mikel arteta already knows what the outcome will be. since, we tend to get ostracised & excommunicated on every game to date
Who the hell is this black dude? Does he know football? To even blame Rice. And he is talking to Wrighty, unimaginable.
He's Journalist 😂😂😂. I think one of the newspapers
I dont think the refs are biased at all i think they are all just shit at their jobs and thats a problem when you have the best league in the world but the worst refs.
Arsenal were having a good game. The Brighton defender was in defence. If the Brighton player could have taken the free kick quickly Arsenel were effectively playing with 10 men because Rice was totally out of position and could not affect the game. When Pedro kicked the ball away the nearest Arsenal player was in Fulham so Pedro was hardly affecting the game.
Letter of the law!
Darren Lewis’s brain is hooked on Arsenal bias . He belittles sporting excellence because he was never an athlete. To have the right to have a big mouth and be allowed to spout bias is sad ! He seems a Champion Lover who keeps his favor from one previous winner to the other ! That is never the spirit of sport . That is not the spirit embraced by people who have experienced playing sport !
I’m not Arsenal fan, but they need to move on from this already. If you let this in your head for the rest of the season, you won’t get there! It’s the same mentality of a team hitting the cross bars 8 times, and the opponents come down and score a winning goal. You will never see City doing this!!!
Explain pedro
No red card is valid for Arsenal...but for the others it is, I know you're desperate to win the league..... sorry this not how to win premier ship
Keep crying… 😅
It was a defo a red, no argument.. nobody’s talking about Declan’s amateur act. When you are already booked its silly to kick the ball that way. Whether you kick the ball a mile or an inch you still kicked the ball. No debate.
Хигли ты больше в сдендофф не играешь
The bias here by wright is a bit sad he’s usually pretty fair ..no one is talking about the 15 seconds before that rice tries to use flair an be clever in the corner skills he doesn’t have an veltman took it off him an shield him he couldn’t even dangle veltman in the corner the player he thought I could try this on he then loses that battle an out of frustration on a yellow makes a stupid mistake jsut get way from the ball walk away get into position he tried to stop the ball he then kicks the ball it’s a yellow it’s stupid I don’t like that they don’t point out his frustration when he loses the ball in the corner
I hope the next time somebody tries to “delay the restart” against us gets caught by the ref and gets a yellow card. I wonder if it will happen……..
