Best way is don’t drink in the first place
Yes, this is the old fashioned way. Very efficient.
Agreed.
Absolutely. Alcohol is yucky.
Saw this one coming.
This is my strategy. I haven't had a hangover in years that way
Thanks Docs. A very sensible video. Eat before having a drink, don’t mix the grape with the grain, be very careful if taking medication, and drink plenty of water before, during and after a party.
I am taking this opportunity to wish you, Dr Paul Zalzal and Dr Brad Weening, a very, very happy and healthy new year, and to say how much I’m looking forward to your videos during 2024
Hello docs, i'm fron eastern europe and when i was a child because everyone drank we start drinking young. Some drank stupidly and some wisely. I don't know how is everywhere else but here is a competition, a way of life and a mans worth in the world is measured on how many people you can get under a table and if you get home in one peace you are a legend.
Because of this behavior i was lucky to be taught by my cousin and grandfather the art of drinking. We call it here an art but it's just eat well before going to drink and after every or couple of drinks drink water but never sparkling water and if you drank more than a couple and forgot the water pause for 30 minutes on the alcohol and just have water.
This gave me a super power on those stupidly drinking. Many were slayed by me and legends were sang. Sadly when you met one wisely drinking it was like a game of chess and sometimes i was defeated by some sort of witchery.
This really helped on the next day of drinking too. Here when you party you go a couple days in a row.
I quit professional drinking 7 years ago and now watching this enjoying a glass of wine i teach the people how it's done.
Happy new year docs and thank you for all the videos. Happy new year to everybody as well. Cheers from Europe.
Thanks so much for that enjoyable tale!
sometimes a bit of a hangover. stops me from drinking longer than when I hydrate and feel ok in the morning. BUT the best thing about drinking and getting older is that I don't stay up all night. Keep up the good work. Happy New Year.
Yes. To bed early!
I’ve always been a sleepy drunk, even as a teen. I’m also cheap so I’ll self-limit.
I was a social drinker. Occasionally I’d over socialize. It’s been years and now, if I drink, it’s very little, very rarely.
Happy New Year Docs. Thanks for all the videos and work you've done this year past. All the best in 2024.
Happy New Year Docs, to you and yours! Wonderful videos this past year! 🥳🎉
Don’t drink, Dec 7 marked 30 years sober for me…don’t miss a hangover at all!!
Congratulations, Ken. That's a huge accomplishment. And is it still "one day at a time"? My gf says to me, "today, I am sober"! She's been clean and sober for 15 years, so not yet up to your 30, but going strong.
@@jonap5740 that’s awesome!!!
Dont be a quitter Ken
@@user_ghdq3 I quit
IBUPROFEN BEFORE GOING TO BED!
A few years ago I figured that a hangover is basically inflammation of the brain so I tried an anti-inflammatory - Ibuprofen. I've found that a cople of 400mg tablets after drinking but BEFORE sleeping reliably prevents a hangover. I'll still feel tired and washed out but I don't get the throbbing head and neck. Taking it in the morning doesn't work for me - it's too late as the damage is already done. Of course the usual advice not to take Ibuprofen on an empty stomach applies.
Have a wonderful, happy and prosperous New Year. I have enjoyed your videos this past year.
Happy healthy new years docs. Really love watching you
I had a hangover after my brother's wedding and swore to never let this happen again, that was in 1983.
Wow 40 years!
Great timing! Ed McMahon of Johnny Carson's Tonight Show would say he did not go out on New Year's Eve. He called it "amateurs' night".
All the best in 2024!
Thanks for the advice.
I wish you both a happy new year..thank you for what you do for us. About drinking I take meds no way will I drink. Looking forward to more of your videos. Oh thank you for the prop video. ❤
Drink in moderation - easy to say. Many thanks for your informative and humorous videos over the year.
Happy New Year my Friends!!
I don’t drink a lot but if there long enough to have more than one, I have one glass of water in between each drink.
Happy New Year
Happy New Years Doc W and Doc Z 🍻🥂🍹🍸🥃🍺🍻🥂🍾🍹🍸🥃🍺🍻🥂 CHEERS DOCS 🍾
Yep. Been sober since Aug of 1977. One day at a time.
Congrats
Wow! The year and the month I graduated from Emory ! Good things happened at that particular time! Congrats pugman!
Happy holidays to the docs
Perfect advice, the combination of hydrating and drinking will disturb sleep several times - if you drink in the evenings. So better to drink earlier in the evening, then stop, so the trips to the toilet do not prevent a good nights sleep.
Spoken like someone over 50. We agree! 🤣
Didn't know about the congeners, thanks!!
Switch to Tito’s soda extra lime. No more hangovers. 😂
True but gives me ulcers
Agradeço pelos aprendizados !
Welcome!
These days I don't drink any more...and I don't drink any less. Cheers and Happy Holidays.
Becoming old, I usually only have one or 2 drinks because it doesn't mix well with my meds.
My father always ate and took a couple of aspirins before he went out. When he was done partying he would eat a small meal and drank juice or water before going to bed. I followed his routine when I was old enough.
I drank and overdid it so I just quit and a great side effect was way less weight, now in the healthy range. My healthy whole food-plant based diet helped most but not drinking knocked off a good 15 pounds when I did that first.
Great tips! I subscribe to the Don't Drink school of thought. An occasional glass of wine is ok for me.
Like this setting better than the podcast type
i remember you were at one time planning on wearing a cgm and sharing the results.
"Why do ya gotta be that way? " 😂
Yup 🤣
When I was drinking, I probably never made myself a cup of green tea before bed. Glad I quit a few years ago. Makes driving a lot less stressful too.
You gentlemen are medical doctors, but I consider myself a professional drinker still I agree a lot with you guys. My first bit of advice is to mix in a sports drink like Gatorade in the process. It not only help hydrate, but you will also maintain your salt levels. My 2nd word of advice is clear liquors that aren't too cheap. A non bottom shelf vodka is great. I wish somebody put popular vodkas through a gas chromatography unit testing for organic impurities, but inlui of that data I suggest middle shelf vodka or better.
One year I went to a bar with some friends on New Year’s Eve and I didn’t want to get drunk. So I drank Scotch, which I detest. It caused me to drink very slowly. It was kind of fun watching everyone else get drunk.
Ohh... I'll take one of those Caprese salad sandwiches for sure! (Pictured) Yum ..... I'll wash it down with some iced tea, though. 😄
Electrolytes!
Yep... electrolytes and milk thistle 😊
Thanks!
Great video guys , thanks for the info .
I got drunk on Christmas Eve and I’m staying there until the New year 🤪🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🥃🥃🥃🥃
Oh no!
Do alcohol free beers hydrate? I do enjoy a drink but maybe only once a month on social occasions. With the availability of alcohol free beers now I'll probably add these throughout the night to cut down alcohol consumption.
We have many friends in Germany 🇩🇪. We travel there a couple times a year, and they travel here to the USA as well. I learned early on in our travels that if you put a coaster on top of your glass everyone knows that you do not care for anymore alcoholic beverages. Then only water is served to you. Smart idea I think 😉😃😉 ‘You ARE in charge of your own health’ 😊🎉
Any thoughts on ZBiotic? Claims to be a genetically engineered probiotic that breaks down acetaldehyde. My confusion on this is that the probiotic would be in the gut, but wouldn’t the acetaldehyde be in your bloodstream because it’s a byproduct of processing the alcohol?
I was the first to like this video!! WHOAH!!!!
Heavy drinker, my whole life milk thistle is the key and plenty of water. However, it’s real bad the next day just go exercise
Milk thistle is a must for your liver 😊
When you start with a cup of alcohol containing fluid, take one or two sips, then deposit that cup (with most of the drink still in the cup) on a window sill somewhere so you will be functional to attend the AFTER PARTY and drive home! Limit yourself to two cups to randomly deposit per function. Don't ask how I know this.
I quit at 30 due to booze abuse. I drank some in my 50s but one drink would give a hangover next day.
“It might just be Tuesday.” Hahahahahah!
I only drink 0.0 Moretti.
I like the taste.
Alcohol is not my friend (Though in the beginning of the nineties and late eighties I drank alcohol.)
Yeah, a valerian tincture before sleeping maybe.
But melatonine 100mcg to 200mcg does much more in that regard for me.
Deep sleep.
I forgot who sad it but it went something like, “When you’ve got a hangover your hair hurts”.
You should have asked me! NAC 1200 mg, 250 ml of water for a unit of alcohol Happy New Year 🎉
Interesting. Thanks for the tip!
This is very informative! But dark liquor doesn’t seem to give me a hangover as mush as white liquor does
I'm hydrating as I type. I'm only having two drinks with my dinner. Hydrate when you get home also. Now that I'm older alcohol and I just don't mesh. Stop at the buzz husband driving and doesn't drink.
Good strategy
The worst hangover is waking up in the hospital. Don't drink and drive. I plan to drink alone at home😂😂
Wow agree
ngl im acttualy drung wtcing this
I add 1 teaspoon baking soda to a glass of water and drink before going to bed along with an Advil….NO nausea or hangover since.
so ... alka seltzer
Best remedy!! Don’t drink 🎉
Not really my thing, but what I found was ...
1. Anything brown is disgusting, unless it's gravy or cashmere.
2. Only the girly drinks are nice, i.e. pernod & black, malibu & pineapple, cinzano & lemonade, but they're quite sweet/heavy so
you don't want more than one or two anyway.
3. After spending on one or two, you could have probably bought said cashmere.
😊
Wait wait I know this one! …. Don’t drink is the only way 😂
It's one way for sure!
Yes. Grape and Grain do not mix well. I'm glad I finally know why the brown stuff leaves me feeling awful the next day.
I'm wondering if dehydration is over-hyped as a cause for hangovers. Logic (at least my logic) holds that if you get dehydrated, you should develop some symptoms of hangover even without alcohol (i.e., dehydration = hangover). My experience is that no matter how dehydrated I get (which is often), I never experience hangover symptoms without drinking alcohol, which implies that it's other variables which play a bigger role in a hangover (e.g., congeners). Whatcha think?
Drink in moderation.
I had a hang over after drinking 3 bottles of alcohol free beer anyone else suffer like me ...what's the cause Patrick in Ireland
Don't mix alcohol. Stick to one choice.
drink 5 glasses of water and take aspirin before going to bed - never had a hangover again!
I'm still not sure if Zalzal is a cardiologist or a comedian. 🤔
I think most everyone goes through a drinking phase, it's something we want to do when we're younger.
I probably did most of my drinking when I was in my 20's but never drank enough to have hangovers.
I would occasionally have a drink socially and after a while, it was maybe once a year.
Drinking isn't something I've ever enjoyed that much but sometimes I would order a drink because everyone else did.
After a while I decided I don't have to drink to fit in! And none of us should ever feel pressured to drink!
I can't even tell you how long it's been since I had a drink. It's more like decades than years and I'm perfectly happy with that! I don't have to get drunk to have a good time!
These are very good tips for those who intend to drink on New Years Eve! But to take it a step further, make sure you have a ride home! Don't be a casually or don't cause one!
Let's keep everyone safe out there! Take some responsibility for your night out!
Please fix the "Subcribe" button on your videos. P.S. I'm your biggest fan.
Thanks! We appreciate that Cindy
Just don't drink.
Bad choices such as waking up the next morning with your sister's husband 😅
Or you boss 😮
Garbage in, garbage out. Remember caffeine itself will not stop you getting drunk. It will just make you an awake drunk. Low or no alcohol drinks are better.
Agree. Caffeine is no good for this
Hate the way it makes me feel. I just stay away from it.
Uber
Dry for three years, no more alcohol for this person. I think I drank enough in my past 45 years. And I am still having great fun at parties.
I always tell my friend, "Can you imagine if we drinking." We are funny without drinking.
Avoiding alcohol it's simple. Don't need a Doctor for this one. If you stop smoking things will improve you might not get cancer.
Yes
I think I could be regarded as a heavy drinker,
I don’t get Hangovers, what does that tell you?
Your body is good at clearing it. Some do
Just don't drink. Works everytime
Guaranteed way to avoid hangovers - Drink like a fish ‘till your thirties, admit you’re an alcoholic, join AA and work through the steps, never touch alcohol again.
Wow a bit dark but true
@@TalkingWithDocs😂
The smartest thing not to do is don’t drink alcohol….
Oh dear lord…. Now you tell me 😉🤢😬🥂
Don’t drink … simple
Yes agreem
Silly, DONT CONSUME ALCOHOL
How To Avoid A Hangover ?
simple - Dont consume alchol.
that one is easy, stick to smoking weed.
Oh please use edibles. My whole building stinks of skunk weed!
I have a much simpler way to avoid a hangover. Don't drink alcohol. WALA! Problem solved!
Just put some kale leaves in whatever you're drinking, that will cure anything.
Or go to Teds and get a kale salad and a lemon drop martini!
How to avoid a hangover? Stop drinking alcohol. Simple.
I think Dr Weening has already had a few
Whaat?!
Best way to avoid a hangover is to not drink alcohol. That's also the 2nd and 3rd best way.
stop trying to be funny
I don’t try to be funny bc I’m not, a man’s gotta know his limitations.
Maybe our channel isn’t for you. Sorry you’re not funny
