Oh, my! Tears at the first note! I love this song from “Le Mis”! An amazing singer! The standing ovation is the highest honor a singer, actor, or music performer can receive. It means you have touch the hearts and soul of the audience. Thank you, Ty! Now where did I put my box of tissue? I need to wipe my tears. 😭❤️
Empty chairs at empty tables is another beautiful song from Les Miserable which would be a great follow up to this. It is the song that the boy who is prayed for (Marius) sings when he survives. I would suggest the rendition by Michael Ball.
All the songs from Les Miserables are great stand alone songs , and the stage show is fantastic ... but for pure entertainment ( even if the singing isn't always up to par , possibly with the exception of Anne Hathaway ) the movie with Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe is hard to beat . It puts all the songs in context .
Aside from his solo career Alfie Boe also records and tours with Michael Ball, who was the original Marius in Les Mis. He sings "Bring Him Home" in almost every concert (usually a bit better than in the video you saw) and the two of them sing everything from "The Prayer" to "Wham" and "Queen" covers. They're a hoot to watch. I think you'd enjoy them.
Alfie Boe has an incredible voice. This song in particular always gets me. It’s a song near the end of Les Miserables when his character has saved a young man who is in love with his daughter. This song is his plea to god to save the young man’s life. It truly feels like a prayer.
Just for your comfort with the title of the show this is from. The show is, Les Miserables. It’s pronounced, (Les) Lay (Miserables) Miz-er-AH-bleh. Tough one. Great reaction to a great performance by a great vocalist. Saw him in person. He sang everything from opera to rock to blues to pop to rap! You are the only reactor I’ve watched who invites viewers to review your content before subscribing. I did and…I did! 👍👏👏👏💞
They’re both amazing in different ways. Colm is more rough and emotional and alfie is more trained and restrained. And both made me bawl like a toddler when I saw them sing live. They get to the emotion in different ways.
That was beautiful! Yes, I've caught myself speeding when I have rock music going and going slower with calming songs. When I was in my early 20's I would be on a back road and start breaking to the beat of a song, or..kind of swerving from left to right with the beat. Sometimes my Mama would be with me and she would actually laugh. I told her I was making my car dance. I finally stopped when my husband told me I would ruin the brakes. I had the fastest car in town...383 Magnum engine. The silly things we do at a young age..did some racing, too..won every time!
What a beautiful voice and song! Can't get much better than that! Koodos to your cousin for this suggestion 🖒 And yes, music has made me drive a little faster...lol
Alfie is just amazing! His voice can be booming with power and then feathery soft, and so moving! His performances with Michael Ball is excellent as is funny.
Alfie's guitarist/Musical Director is a dear friend of mine - Murray Gould, fantastic musician and all round lovely chap! The venue is the Royal Albert Hall. The man who got the speeding ticket, was he listening to 'Highway Star' by Deep Purple by any chance? Murray's also played with some of the guys from that band also.
Alfie Boe is an absolute legend of musical stage. In the UK, he is seen as one of, if not the best. If you’re interested in listening to some musical stuff, say the word. I’m sure loads of people would be pleased to suggest stuff. I def would, but I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
MRM, Not sure if you realize it or not, Ajfie Boe (in the white shirt) was one of the Four Tenors version of Bring Him Home you reviewed on December 8, 2018... Doesn't take away from.this version. This is a fantastic song from Les Miserables.
Alfie is a newer version in the role of Jean Val Jean. Shocker.. He was a truck driver that was discovered to be an amazing Tenor. This song is a Prayer for his daughter's love as he may die in the French Revolution. I saw this on Broadway. One of the top 3 shows ever
Alfie is my Jean Val Jean, saw him live and was just AMAZED him, you should watch the Bring Him Home quartet, its the 4 most popular Jean Val Jeans, and some of the men mentioned in other comments here sing with him.
It's a prayer. Josh Groban does an EXCELLENT version of this song. Hugh Jackman ( Yes, Wolverine!) Does a good version in the movie of the musical play "Les Miserables"
If you have never seen Les Miserables, RUN to the theater to see it the first chance you get. It is one of the most beautiful stories of faith, love, repentance, and redemption ever.
@@Alicia-go8lw That isn't fair. Colm Wilkinson is much older and his voice isn't as strong as it once was. Alfie is in his prime. Who knows how he'll sound in 30 years?
This is one of the main songs of Les Miserables, so great and powerfull song... Alfie Boe, in my opinion, is one of the best Valjean, ,who played the character on the 25th anniversary of the play, and also on Broadway, soooo goood... A very well trained Tenor...Please consider to watch the song "STARS" (Norm Lewis or Phillip Quast... very good.
The best #24601 you'll ever hear...sorry Colm and JOJ. Alfie said that whether it's a Les Miserables performance or one like this, he always sings this song as what it was when Les Mis was written..a prayer.
Colm Wilkinson is the best at this song, the original Val Jean, checkout Colm at the Les Mis 10th anniversary concert at Royal Albert Hall, there is no equal.
Try this, put Glen Campbell's Southern Nights on loud. Hold your arms straight out to the side, then try to resist someone trying to pull them down. You won't be able to resist at all. The beat of that song makes your brain think you're having a heart attack and the strength will leave your limbs. There's a Stevie Wonder song that has the same effect, Sir Duke I think.
If you'd like a non opera version (To me, Alfie comes across like someone who should be sharing the stage w/the *Three Tenors* vs on Stage signing a *musical* ) , look up *Jan Werner ~ Bring Him Home*
Would it be possible for you to take a look at a band named the verve singing the drugs dont work the lead singer lived at the top of my street when he wrote this it's a great song I'm sure you'll appreciate it thank you.
Hi. I love Les Miserables. They don’t make musicals like this anymore. Please react to Stars from Les Mis sung by Philip Quast. He plays police inspector Javert who has spent years hunting down Jean Valjean (prisoner 24601).Thank you.
Les Miserables is the story of how a man was placed in prison and hard labor for life. He escaped and became a rich man but a policeman had been hunting for all his life. When he finally found him, they guy saved the Cops life. The cop eventually commits suicide because he realized he had been wrong all his life. It ends with the beginning if the French Revolution.
Before I even listen to your response, I just wanted to say that I've heard a better performance of this song by Alfie Boe. Now I'll listen to what you have to say.
Hey please please react to evanescence lost in paradise live in germany it’s acoustic version or react to evanescence the change from the same show live in germany both are beautiful songs
This song is from Les Mis & is a prayer to God that Jon Valjean makes to save a young man that his daughter is taken by. This is at the barricade built by French students. I hated the ending & the start. I don't like his falsetto at all & I know this song.

I am a hard core Colm Wilkinson fan on this song. But I adored Alfie singing it, and his performance in the show as well. He's wonderful!
Im sorry but this is Alfie's song hands down .

Alfie Boe is great. However, when the writers were constructing this song for Les Miserables they crafted it specifically for Colm Wilkinson's voice.
....and ALFIE BOE is on another level of talent, beyond all those other brilliant vocalists! That is no disrespect to Colm...it just IS REALITY!
They’re both amazing in different ways. Colm is more rough and emotional and alfie is more trained and restrained. And both made me bawl like a toddler when I saw them sing live. They get to the emotion in different ways.
I love Colm but if I have to chose the best Valjean, I have to go with Alfie. It's almost a tie between them.

Is that the black guy from the 25th anniversary show? He was amazing.
My favorite version of that song!
@@danielromberg685 That was Norm Lewis, an excellent singer, indeed.

American Woman not a truck driver :) working as a mechanic at 19yo and auditioned and began studying at the Royal College of Music, London

No one can sing this beautiful song like Alfie
Wow, was NOT expecting this, Loved it!!
Saw him performing this in West End Les Mis, he has more emphasis in acting in that setting, and with context, makes the performance so much better.
If you want to check out Ball & Boe, go to Linda Wellington's site.

For musical songs try Gethsemane done by Steve Balsamo
