We Canucks are tough cookies. A little 50° temperature swing is just a breeze. Love the honesty of your videos and the way you explain the tasks you are doing. Good work.
Just by looking at the space frames around the engine bay, it makes you think about safety, crumble zones and if Ferrari ever thought about safety rather than beauty. Great episode as always Lou. Thank you.
The adjustable spring/shock systems available now are a dream. If your car is sitting too high? turn em down. Too low? turn em up. You probably remember back in the day sending out springs to be compressed cut or stretched...and leaf springs being re-arched.....
Great watching a regular guy work on his own Ferrari. Make me happy for. Now that I think of it I will never have a Ferrari, not quite so happy for me now....still happy for you though.
I wouldn't dare mention tightening the bolts on an unloaded suspension however there is one hard and fast rule I always follow. Regardless of the application if I'm assembling something, if a fastener is not immediately tightened, I put a piece of colourful tape on it. Whether it be 5 minutes or 5 months it is a unmistakable visual reminder because without a doubt I WILL forget to tighten something otherwise. This trick has saved me countless times and it is so automatic now that I can't imagine working any other way.
absolutely agree, we all have our processes. Mine is that I wont put the nut of the bolt on till I'm ready to tighten it. However in this case I intimately aware of every bolt and I will be re-examining every bolt before I hit the road. cheers Lou
Hi Lou, just found your channel yesterday and have sat down all weekend watching every video. Thouroughly enjoyed every minute and looking forward to the next 308 video. Thanks for entertaining us.
I just want to send a big thank you for all these 308 videos. I have realized that I really need a white 308 QV and your videos give me the confidence that I can service and maintain it myself. And it's not just the content itself that is great, the videos themselves are well made and with a touch of humor.
Personally i like the idea of having the bodywork and paint done first.... for me it would add motivation and pride knowing that as soon as the last part is installed the car will be ready to go.
I feel your pain on the urethane bushing....you press it it gets fatter and tighter lol....I use sanding sleeves on my small drum sander and it's rubber...you tighten the drum sander body and it compresses and makes the rubber expand to hold the sleeve. Only problem? It doesn't loosen enough so when you go to push the sleeve on the rubber gets bigger and makes it harder....I found a little application of universal lube (spit) helps lolol
Hi Lou, I'm happy to have stumbled onto this excellent video, as I'm planning to do this upgrade to my 88 328GTS. Question for you: what spring rates did you decide on for your 308?
6:40 I tried to see if they were variable rate springs to make sure you had them oriented the same, they look pretty much the same up or down....are they constant rate?
3;51 you'll going to get kicked out of the he man club for that! Didn't you get the memo? first thing you do is TOSS the instructions lol....then screw around for an extra 2 hrs figuring out where you went wrong lololol (I always read instructions myself :-) )
real men use zip ties and mechanic's wire... not spring compressors ;) and just me...being an airplane guy...but I try to put all the bolts in from front to back, top to bottom and Inside out....the spring bolts were correct, but the knuckle bolts were backwards :0
Why wouldn’t they include an extra $5 set of bushings so the customer doesn’t have to deal with removing and re inserting into new mount? Not a very good kit 👎

Thank you fine fellow Canuck.
And you have earned it. Here's to the backbones of all nations, the unsung worker bees that keep it all moving!
Thanks. Cheers mate.

Hi Lou, I'm happy to have stumbled onto this excellent video, as I'm planning to do this upgrade to my 88 328GTS. Question for you: what spring rates did you decide on for your 308?
300 in the front, 250 in the rear. cheers Lou
@@LouTrottier Thank you sir!
You are most welcome.
The QA1's really look good, dare I say sexy haha. Thx Lou
exactly, they are sexy!
Project 308 or bust! Did you say Lou that you are replacing the wiring harness?
no plan to replace harness at this point. thanks.
6:40 I tried to see if they were variable rate springs to make sure you had them oriented the same, they look pretty much the same up or down....are they constant rate?
yes..
@@LouTrottier cool thanks!
What was that burgundy car behind you in the show Lou.? Looked like an early Audi or Triumph maybe?? Looked European I don’t know why.
1974 triumph TR6.
@@LouTrottier Nice
Ive got a 82 308 we are restoring for a customer. How did the front go together with this set up? Any modifications needed?
Instruction were very well laid out and it went together easy.
There's that TR6 again
I’ve been contemplating if I should do Tr6 video. What do you think?
Ferrari first bigman
@@stephenclatworthy611 LOL. okay, that's what I imagined the answer would be.
Is the T R yours??
nope, customers.
Make sure you don't tighten those bushings till you have weight on the car. Ha, there I'm the first to say it.
haha. you win the prize!
@@LouTrottier Loving your vids. I'm learning tons about my 82 GTSi. Thanks.
@@maxandfergus thanks man. cheers
You make it look easy. I know it's a lot less labor wise, but I still hate to see your parts bill.
you and me both..LOL
Never heard your car cold start not even while engine out
Nope. Never.

its a pretty odd looking bushing, something definitely not off the shelf.
