Do the new Scorpion helmets run true to size? There old helmets are a size smaller, which makes me wary of selecting the right size if ordering online. It's hard to beast Scorpion for what you're getting for money spent.
Most Scorpions fit pretty true to size in my personal experience. I have an intermediate oval head shape that is 57.5cm in circumference, which is the middle of size medium for most brands. Between the two, I would choose the Scorpion. The Qualifier DLX is the better buy since it comes with two face shields, but I prefer the fit, finish, and build quality of the Scorpion. -Kraus-e
hi Jay and Rev, I was torn also between the scorpion 420 and the qualifier DLX. What he said about the Bell coming with two face shields is awesome, and it is ALMOST the same look. But I'm glad I chose the scorpion as I believe it is all around a better built helmet. I bought the 45 dollar shield bringing my purchase to 190. Plus the glasses fitment of the scorpion was a huge winner for me.
I don't get the R410 being called "round" as information on Cycle Gear label it as intermediate oval, and I'm an intermediate oval and the R410 fits GREAT. If the R420 was any more oval than that I'm pretty sure it won't fit me. I've had a chance to look at the R420, but not try one on, and I noticed the visor lock is very "latchy". it takes some force to lock, and the lever may not be the easiest to activate to unlock it with gloves on. And keep in mind with the new locking mechanism if you close the visor to seal it it MUST be locked. Unlike the R410 which could be locked AFTER fully closed. I appreciate the re-design of the visor lock though, as the little plastic lever for my R410 broke on me while I was trying to prop open the visor. Such items involving safety should be kept simple, yet easy to operate, which is the concern with many visor lock systems. I appreciate the easier to operate top vent, as the R410 vents were hard to feel, and there was a bit of "did I close it? let me open then close it again to double check." The display model I looked at for the R420 had a broken rear spoiler, with no visible damage markings from impact. That will be something to inspect when you get yours. That might be a weak point in cases of accidental helmet drops or just banging the helmet against objects.
The 420 is DOT and SNELL certified, it’s surprisingly easy to get DOTA certified and could be a trash helmet, SNELL certified is a voluntary group that truly tests helmets, the 420 has DOT and SNELL certifications 😅
I just got the helmet and it seems really tight. I got a headache after 10 mins of wearing it. My head is 23 ½ inches I bought a large will it fit better after use?
If it gives you a headache after only 10 min, it's either the wrong size, the wrong shape, or both. Before trying XL, try removing the cheek pads from the helmet, in order to focus on how the helmet padding fits around the crown of the head. If it feels good around the crown without the cheek pads, then consider getting thinner cheek pads. If it's too tight around the crown, then consider an XL helmet. -DrewZilla
It meets the Snell Motorcycle (M) standard, not the Snell Auto (SA) standard, so you have to ask your autocross organizer if they'll accept Snell Moto. -DrewZilla

How would you describe the color of the matte titanium? It looks slightly green on my monitor. Doesn't help that I'm partially colorblind. Certainly a unique finish, I'm curious what it looks like in person.
Can you easily switch the visor? I'm thinking about getting the helmet and the silver mirror visor but would like to know if 1. Can it be switched? And 2. Is it just plug and play or do i need to get anything additional? First helmet, thanks for the help!
Yes, it can easily be swapped for a silver mirror visor. You just open the visor to its fully open position and use the spring-loaded levers at each side pivot point to release the visor. You reverse the process to install the new visor. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-exo-r420-face-shield

On the scorpion website is called Titanium but on RevZilla is called Matte Titanium. I appreciate anyone's help, I would like to know if it's the same and if that is the color. Thank you in a very appreciative advance.
I have a 57-57.5 centimeters size head and I can’t decide what to get in this helmet. Should I get a medium or small? I went to my local store and tried on r410. Small felt really tight. Medium felt ok. But don’t you want helmets really tight?
So I'm stuck between this helmet and the AGV k1. Mostly because idk how it fits compared to the scorpion. Other helmets are a bit tight around the crown of my head (shoei & bell) but the scorpion fits perfect. I want to know if the k1 will fit the same. Help? Lol. Not a lot of dealerships carry the k1either.
How does this compare with the 710 that is much older model? Manly that the the 420 is polycarb and the 710 is fiberglass but both are snell. Also noise difference?
Functionally, those are the differences. Both are Snell, but one is polycarb and the other is fiberglass. The EXO-R420 has a more _current_ angular design. Both are average for noise, but we always recommend earplugs anyway. -DrewZilla
Fiberglass tends to be stronger and tends to last longer. It's usually lighter weight, too, but not always. However, modern polycarbonates, such as the LG polycarbonate that Scorpion uses, can be similar in safety to fiberglass. -DrewZilla
hey Revzilla guy's , apparently this same Shake helmet comes in "Cement Grey "?? but I have yet to see it in person or in actual photo's . could you guy's ( or anyone confirm what this looks like and post it ? ) if it's anything similar to the Icon " Chantilly " model that is like a darker matte version I would definitely prefer it over the Icon. the Scorpion 420 fits me better . and lastly : do you have multiple dark purple shirts like the one you've been wearing in all these video's or is it ur favorite" go-to " shirt for making video's ???
The Cement Grey is what we have labeled Black/Grey on-site. The photo online is very true to real life for the color. It is not matte black like the Chantilly. It's a satin finish in medium grey with black script. The EXO-R420 also uses a polycarbonate construction, which is why it's more affordable than the fiberglass-shell FG-17. Both are great options, but I might lean a bit towards the FG-17 if you have the budget. -DrewZilla
RevZilla I currently have a Airoh Storm size S, don't know if that would help or not but yeah.. can't but the exo-r420 anywhere here in EU for some reason (not that I could find atleast)
The EXO-R420 is only available here in the US, which is why you haven't seen it in Europe. As for size, you'd likely be a size small in the EXO-R420 as well. -DrewZilla
How tf does this have a Snell rating but not ece? Am I possibly confused about something? (My impression is that Snell has a higher safety standard than ece)
It's not higher, they are completely different views on helmet safety. Snell leans more towards puncture resistance while ece leans more to abrasion resistance. However Ece is getting pulled by the FIM standard so eventually it's gonna be the safer standard if not already
The EXO-R410 is a great helmet, and it's an even better value now that it's on closeout sale. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-exo-r410-helmet

@@RevZilla Thanks a lot!! And one last question, how about comparing this Scorpion with the HJC CL-17 Punisher 2? Is it worth the extra cash? Thanks in advance!!
It really depends on your specific head shape, but I would try to fit into the medium if you can. Size medium is still in the smaller of the two shell sizes, so you'd get a more compact helmet overall with size medium. If you do need to go up to size large, the outside of the helmet will be a bit bigger, but it's still a pretty streamlined helmet in the larger shell. -DrewZilla

Rather than mounting straight in the middle of the chin bar, we like to use a standard side mount. i HATE how helmets are going to Center lock. There isn't a let hand vs right hand thing here. 9 times out of 10 your going to use your non-throttle hand to open or close, Now your left hand has to move a few inches further AND hand is in FRONT of face to close. What a stupid concept.

You may want to see if you have a good seal with the face shield on the right side. Since the vents are all centered on the helmet, that's the only thing I can think of. Even with vents closed, you still might get a tiny bit of whistling depending on your riding position and how air flows over your bike. -DrewZilla

I appreciate the easier to operate top vent, as the R410 vents were hard to feel, and there was a bit of "did I close it? let me open then close it again to double check."
The display model I looked at for the R420 had a broken rear spoiler, with no visible damage markings from impact. That will be something to inspect when you get yours. That might be a weak point in cases of accidental helmet drops or just banging the helmet against objects.
I’m looking to order one, not really sure my head size, I’d say a medium would be save. What is your return policy?
So, it's a new shape and will not fit my head as an Eastern European?
it depends on your head size, if your head is either super long or absolutely round it won't fit
Brandon Bariel how do I know idk what shape my head is
Only problem is it whistles at just 40mph and that’s really annoying. All in all really comfy and light!
D4UxDuckOnQuack is that whistle with visor down and all vents closed?
The 420 is DOT and SNELL certified, it’s surprisingly easy to get DOTA certified and could be a trash helmet, SNELL certified is a voluntary group that truly tests helmets, the 420 has DOT and SNELL certifications 😅
How deep are speaker pockets?
I love your energy lol
Can't find the Grey Shake graphic in 3XL in-stock anywhere. :( Ended up having to go with the Tracker Graphic in White/Hi-Vis.
love this helmet
I just got the helmet and it seems really tight. I got a headache after 10 mins of wearing it. My head is 23 ½ inches I bought a large will it fit better after use?
If it gives you a headache after only 10 min, it's either the wrong size, the wrong shape, or both. Before trying XL, try removing the cheek pads from the helmet, in order to focus on how the helmet padding fits around the crown of the head. If it feels good around the crown without the cheek pads, then consider getting thinner cheek pads. If it's too tight around the crown, then consider an XL helmet. -DrewZilla
Since it’s Snell certifies that means I can use it for autocross correct?
It meets the Snell Motorcycle (M) standard, not the Snell Auto (SA) standard, so you have to ask your autocross organizer if they'll accept Snell Moto. -DrewZilla
I’m not the only one who hears the whistling right?
D4UxDuckOnQuack I only hear it when I have it cracked open to "City mode"
Kinda reminds me of a AGV helmet in looks/quality expect you get that everyday use feel, and for 1/8 of the price as the pista
Hello from the UK! I love your channel and I looove this scorpion helmet. Do you ship to the UK? Thanks!
Yes, we do ship to the UK, but keep in mind that this helmet is only legal for the US market. It is not ECE-rated for Europe. -DrewZilla
I have this helmet but can't find any info for installing bluetooth speakers/headsets? Any info on brands that will work? I just wanna listen to music without needing plugfones or anything, plus future communication once I getmore biker friends (sad)
You can install almost any universal-mount Bluetooth communicator on the EXO-R420, including Sena, Cardo, Interphone, UCLEAR, etc. -DrewZilla
Thanks! Good to know
How would you describe the color of the matte titanium? It looks slightly green on my monitor. Doesn't help that I'm partially colorblind. Certainly a unique finish, I'm curious what it looks like in person.
It's almost a cross between silver, gold, and dark grey with a flat, matte finish. -DrewZilla
-DrewZilla

Beautiful. Thank you!
Links for every pinlock item needed for this helmet would be extremely helpful AND appreciated, thank you very much😁
You would just need the Pinlock shield and the Pinlock insert. I've linked them below. Hope this helps! -DrewZilla

RevZilla Yes this definitely helps! Will be ordering soon, thank you very much for the speedy response as well!
Exo r420 or exo r1?
If you can afford the jump up to the EXO R1 Air, we think that is an awesome helmet.
Got the Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Quartararo Monster Replica Helmet because it was cheaper then the regular black ones
What is the color of the middle helmet? Is that the Titanium? It looks kind of different for me on the website, my eyes may be fooling me. On the scorpion website is called Titanium but on RevZilla is called Matte Titanium. I appreciate anyone's help, I would like to know if it's the same and if that is the color. Thank you in a very appreciative advance.
Yeah that's it. Matte just means the color is a flat color with no shiny on it.
whatd he say in the beginning?
ive got a 58cm melon, do i go for LG or MD
I have a 57-57.5 centimeters size head and I can’t decide what to get in this helmet. Should I get a medium or small? I went to my local store and tried on r410. Small felt really tight. Medium felt ok. But don’t you want helmets really tight?
My head is 57.5cm, and I wear this helmet in size medium. I'd recommend medium for you as well. -DrewZilla

The K1 fits in between the Bell and this Scorpion, so there's a decent chance the K1 can fit you. -DrewZilla

-DrewZilla
RevZilla is fiber a lot safe than polycarb? What is the functionality difference?
Fiberglass tends to be stronger and tends to last longer. It's usually lighter weight, too, but not always. However, modern polycarbonates, such as the LG polycarbonate that Scorpion uses, can be similar in safety to fiberglass. -DrewZilla
How is that fit on a head that leans more round than intermediate?
Gonna buy the texas version for $40 bucks today
hey Revzilla guy's , apparently this same Shake helmet comes in "Cement Grey "?? but I have yet to see it in person or in actual photo's . could you guy's ( or anyone confirm what this looks like and post it ? ) if it's anything similar to the Icon " Chantilly " model that is like a darker matte version I would definitely prefer it over the Icon. the Scorpion 420 fits me better .
and lastly : do you have multiple dark purple shirts like the one you've been wearing in all these video's or is it ur favorite" go-to " shirt for making video's ???
The Cement Grey is what we have labeled Black/Grey on-site. The photo online is very true to real life for the color. It is not matte black like the Chantilly. It's a satin finish in medium grey with black script. As for the shirt, it's our Staff T-shirt in "Blurple", and he has a bunch all in the same color. -DrewZilla

Hummm, okay , I just wish I can see one before buying. I like the blk/white one and have no problem settling for it , but I'm really leaning towards this Black/Grey one now ! P.S tell Anthony that I'm only kidding about the T-shirts ( he's a very detailed reviewer and appreciate his vid's )
Will do!
Yup I got the cement grey, looks super cool and its very comfortable
What blue tooth speakers are good for that helmet?
Most of the universal helmets on the market fit this R420 when we tested it. Basically everything with the HD speakers from Sena and Cardo will work.
@@RevZilla okay thanks
i currently own an agv k3sv but after almost 4 years of everyday use it starting to fall apart can you please suggest a helmet for me. i drive a ktm duke and a vstrom 650
Revzilla I'm trying to buy the r420 but idk what to get small or medium because I'm 21 3/16 and in cm I'm 56. The small said on revzilla is 21 5/8-22 and in cm is 55-56. What should I get ?
At 56cm, go for size small. We may need to adjust the inch measurements. -DrewZilla
what speakers could i use for the r420
i was thinking of buying the LS2 FF397 (Polycarb) but came across this and the FG 17, which are both Snell-rated. Which one the 2 better?
The EXO-R420 also uses a polycarbonate construction, which is why it's more affordable than the fiberglass-shell FG-17. Both are great options, but I might lean a bit towards the FG-17 if you have the budget. -DrewZilla
I live in Sweden, would this helmet fit my head? I'm 56cm around but I can't try it anywhere close :/
It might fit your head. We cannot guarantee fit based on where you live. If it did fit you, you would likely be size small (S).
@@ralphnaraine2711 that makes sense
Im between this or the hjc cl17 what do you guys recomend ??
Unless you have a round oval head shape, I would recommend this Scorpion. -DrewZilla
How is the exo r410? Was looking for a helmet and im a new beginner
The EXO-R410 is a great helmet, and it's an even better value now that it's on closeout sale. -DrewZilla

RevZilla thank you, was also looking at the rpha 11, shoei x14 and rf1200
I know the price difference and also the quality
I was gonna get the new 2018 Kawasaki ninja 400. I'm not going to track, just gonna so street riding, which one would be the best option, best bang for the buck kinda situation. Thanks again! I commented on another video of yours as well👌
For all-around riding, I personally would get the Shoei RF-1200 if you have the budget. You do not need a Shoei X-14 at all. -DrewZilla
RevZilla thank you for your help man! Now you recommend the shoei rf sr. Which do you prefer ? Still the 1200 or the rf sr?
hey sir, i tried on the r410 at a dealer and i love it. the rf1200 and the rpha 11 is out of reach at the moment. but there isn't a size small on the website. any suggestions?
Are there cutouts for speakers on the 420 or 410?
Yes, both have speaker cutouts. -DrewZilla
Hello everyone, I have a question... Which one should I buy, this Scorpion R420 or the Speed & Strenght SS1310? Scorpion seems better but it's heavier... And thanks!!
Having worn both, I do like the Scorpion more. The weight difference isn't really noticeable. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla Thanks a lot!! And one last question, how about comparing this Scorpion with the HJC CL-17 Punisher 2? Is it worth the extra cash? Thanks in advance!!
will this be OK for upright riding position? Riding a 16 883N. Please let me know DrewZilla or anyone who has it, thanks!
Yes, the EXO-R420 is great for upright riding on an Iron. -DrewZilla
What it is KwikFit® Cheek Pads Accommodate Eyeglasses?
The cheek pads have extra space at the temples, so that eyeglasses frames can be worn comfortably. -DrewZilla
Hello, so my head is around 58.5 cm, should I stay with medium or jump to large? thanks
-DrewZilla
my head size is 58cm but my hair is quite thick so sometimes it increases to 58+. what size should I get? I heard that if you're large in HJC, u should get XL here in R420. is that true?
free shipping to AUS over $40?
While we do ship to Australia, free shipping is only available within the United States. -DrewZilla
cant find the rules but is this helmet certified in australia ?
This helmet is DOT- and Snell-rated. I believe you would need to look at ECE-rated helmets instead. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/ece-2205-motorcycle-helmets
I have the American flag tracker design. You should feature that for designs. I'm sure it will sell like hot cakes.
What helmet would go with Yamaha FZ 07 ? No highway, just street.
This one.
The Shoei RF-SR is supposed to be good for naked bikes.
If you have a limited budget, I definitely recommend this EXO-R420 for the FZ-07. -DrewZilla

Is it quieter than a bell qualifier?
Yes, we find it to be a bit quieter than the Bell Qualifier, though we still always recommend wearing earplugs with any helmet. -DrewZilla
What would you guy recomend between the scorpion exo-r420 vs hjc cl-17 ?
I like the fit and style of the R420 personally, but quality wise the two are very similar-- I recommend both all the time. The CL-17 is a bit round though, so that doesn't work for everyone -Kraus-e
@@RevZilla thanks you guys i just bought this and i live the helmet just have one question is anybody elses having a whistling problem with all the vent and viso closed or is my helmet defective cause from what i can narrow down its coming from the top vent right side only even when i have everythung sealed up please lmk so i can contact
Cool i want it red
I’ve had this helmet for a while now and I never could for the life of me figure out how to chin mount a GoPro to it. Has anybody found a way for it to work?
Rather than mounting straight in the middle of the chin bar, we like to use a standard side mount. We would mount the base halfway between the center of the chin bar and side of the helmet then use GoPro's little hinged connectors to position the camera closer to the centerline of the helmet. -DrewZilla
Is dark smoke shield on the white/black helmet the on right the same one as this? www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-exo-r420-face-shield
Just want to make sure its that dark, in the picture on revzilla it looks pretty light. Thanks.
Yes, it's the same dark smoke shield. It's a bit darker in normal daylight. -DrewZilla
ALRIGHT!
The ST1400 and R-420 share the same shield.... SO :
1/ Go to pinlock.com and order a set of pinlock posts and a Protectint Pinlock insert for the ST1400
2/ Carefully drill your clear shield to install the pinlock posts.
3/ Insert your transition Protectint Pinlock Lens on your clear shield.
There you are for a total of $230 with a SNELL Certified Helmet with Pinlock insert and Transition Lens!!
...Meanwhile your friend sold a kidney for a Race Star with a fancy Bell Transition Shield.
YOU ARE WELCOME ;) V
For those who don't want to drill a shield, Scorpion does offer a Pinlock-ready shield for the EXO-R420. -DrewZilla
UPDATE: the Protectint pinlock is a very light smoke even in full sun.
- So I recommend to get the DARK SMOKE SCORPION SHIELD for sunny days -
Leave the Protectint pinlock and its clear shield for the less sunny days.
i know it’s main purpose isn’t racing, but does anyone know how this helmet will be for racing purposes ?
I posted on your other comments in the other videos. It might help if you get in contact with our Gear Geeks at CS@revzilla.com for some help in finding your next helmet for racing. They can evaluate your needs and find the right helmet for you much easier than through these comments. Hope that helps! Ride safe, - Pat
i HATE how helmets are going to Center lock. There isn't a let hand vs right hand thing here. 9 times out of 10 your going to use your non-throttle hand to open or close, Now your left hand has to move a few inches further AND hand is in FRONT of face to close. What a stupid concept.
Hey guys just bought this and i live the helmet just have one question is anybody elses having a whistling problem with all the vent and viso closed or is my helmet defective cause from what i can narrow down its coming from the top vent right side only even when i have everythung sealed up please lmk id really aprecuate ut and like to know so mayb i can contact @RevZilla see if mayb they can help
You may want to see if you have a good seal with the face shield on the right side. Since the vents are all centered on the helmet, that's the only thing I can think of. Even with vents closed, you still might get a tiny bit of whistling depending on your riding position and how air flows over your bike. -DrewZilla
I have a R710, how does it compare to R420? Can anyone enlighten me?
The EXO-R710 uses a nicer fiberglass shell, while the EXO-R420 uses a more affordable polycarbonate shell. Both have an intermediate oval head shape. Otherwise, both are DOT and Snell-rated here in the United States. -DrewZilla
RevZilla Thanks, Drew
You should try to talk a little slower as the whole world is watching and other countries if they understand English they do on a lower pace . Thank you … you could also have subtitles it would help too .
Is this still recommended in 2019? I'm between exo r420 or Mt revenge/blade 2sv. Which one do u recommend?
Yes, it's still highly recommended in 2019. Unfortunately, MT helmets aren't distributed in the US, so we cannot provide a good comparison. -DrewZilla

But i need ECE 😫
