What about an AC unit that has the heat pump for cold weather. It is one purchase of $500.00 plus or minus and now you have AC and Heat. How about a review of that for a camper.
I can’t camp in under 50 or over 80 or I’m just plain miserable. I wouldn’t want batteries built into an AC unit, I’d rather have a separate battery or use shore power. $1000 for that BougeRV is a killer deal, I always thought the Zero Breeze was overpriced.

My Medea 5000btu big box store bought $100 window ac runs at like 560watts. I hope I am explaining this correctly. So does that compare to the bougie?
Brian, those are both great units. I don't own either one, but I've been doing my homework. They work very well for a roof top tent. For those of us going the truck camping route, such as you did with the camper shell, do you think the 5000 btu window unit still works well? I bought a Frigidaire 5000 btu window unit with an Energy Star rating and ran it off my Bluetti AC200 MAX + 1 B230 (not the B300) expansion battery. Setting the window AC unit to maximum cold and fan speed and with both Bluetti units at maximum charge, I was able to run the AC unit for 10 hours 25 minutes without any concurrent charging. I'll need to run my CPAP unit at the same time, so I'd discount the time-to-run for that.
The window a/c units are the way to go if you have the right setup! Cheaper, and more cooling power than these units.
@@BrianWatersOutdoors Thanks, Brian. I took a look at the Bourge RV product and noticed that it has an IPX4 water-resistance rating! Putting it on a tailgate should be okay if it is on a little platform so that in a severe storm the water doesn't pool around the unit. Rain is fine, but a soaking situation is not good. So I could use the plywood false tailgate, cut a couple of vent holes with a jigsaw, and I'd be good to go. Options!
Hey Brian, perhaps you could 3d print or retrofit a hose adaptor plate to the Zero freeze, kind of like the one Bouge has so that you can run the zero freeze outside of your tent. That'd be kind of cool.

I bought a 3D printed one for my ecoflow wave2 off Etsy that does the same thing.
I’m over in Plano and for summer camping in Texas we have a different set up with aluminet, camo net spreader discs and we air condition either insulated inner tents or insulated hammock wraps.
My Midea 8000 BTU window AC uses 550 watts on hi and under 200 watts on low.
And costs $300.

I don't remember you saying but does the Bouge have heat too? For winter? Looking to set up my Sierra for camping with a topper (probably Leer), but I'm definitely gonna have to condition that air lol
It does not have a dedicated heat function like the Ecoflow Wave 2, but you could always just pipe in the hot exhaust air coming from the rear of the unit.
I have the zero breeze, but it keeps turning off after 1 minute and 30 seconds. I don't understand what's wrong with mine.
I'm waiting on the company for an answer.

You put the hoses thru your cab side window. It looked pretty close to the window. You couldn't reach the control panel thru that same window? Just wondering
I didn’t want to have to redo all the ducts and the way I sealed up around them again.
Here's a tip to cool that hose and it's free, get a large bath towel, wet it a lil bit with cold water, then drape it over your hose, instant hose cooler!!!!

Can one of these units operate inside a closed vehicle as long as it has a battery source and somewhere to drip the condensation? Or does the exhaust heat have to go out, that sort of thing?
You need to find a way to vent the hot exhaust outside.

Thanks for this review! I bought mine thanks to you. Do you know what the different menu options control? Specifically, the H0 and H1 selections? I know P0 and P1 turns the condensation pump on and off, but I have no idea what H0 and H1 is for. BougeRV support is no help either. They had no idea what i was talking about..

I got the older version and recently acquired this current version for a 1/5 of the msrp from a reviewer.
Huge difference from 2899 to 4000btu.
In had to point the hose directly to me to cool down. This newer version had no issues cooling my dogs in my truck camper.

I can’t stress enough just how important insulation is and how you guys, including the guy in the video, have no idea that insulation even exists or what it even is.
If you need 4000 BTUs to cool down that means that you have inadequate insulation like 99.9% of people.
Can I run it inside my vehicle?
Yes, but you’ll need to find a way to vent the exhaust heat out somehow

I've never used either ... I'm 'browsing' for a unit. But looking at the online specification charts for both, one advantage of the Zero Breeze is that rooftop solar panels on a van build (DIY or Pro) would support & power the Zero Breeze, where (as you pointed out) the new BougeRV unit most definitely requires a generator or shore power. For those who go off-grid and cannot for whatever reason carry a generator & fuel, that's a consideration. Bigger is better - if you have the means to support/power it.
If BougeRV were to make a battery for this, it would weigh much more than the AC itself ... there goes 'portable' 🙂

Even a 15 amp circuit can provide 1800 watts.
Considering how and where you placed the unit when camping I wonder if you could have the unit close enough to tent window to reach thru to adjust the controls?? Not ideal but better than getting out of tent to adjust. Great review.
Ecoflow could learn from that and put a hose on the front intake so I could leave the Wave 2 outside my van and still pull air from inside. That's a nice bonus on the Bouge.

If you do, be sure to keep the AC shaded from the sun. The sun's UV ray will breakdown the plastic case over time
