    I have been living van live wile in the navy for a few years. I have two battery modules out of a Tesla module a. I build a window unit and plumbed it all Into my super small Japanese camper. After that disappointment I went went back to hanging a window unit out my rear window. I have a large dog that I have to keep alive. The first model of this I knew wouldn’t work because they literally suck in air. Now that I have seen this improvement. I’m going to give them a shot. Because it’s more than enough to cool my cab over space. Which is where my dog hangs out while I’m at work and where we sleep. Thank you for the informative video

    I just bought one of these and living in a very humid hot part of Texas, I use it like you said as a spot cooler, I go night fishing a lot and the humidity is so high you just sit and pour sweat, not anymore with this and the light comes in handy camping in a tent or tying a new hook on things like that. As long as you keep an open mind and realize this isn’t going to cool a big space you’ll like it. I also sit mine in the bed of my sidexside point the hose at the back of my head close my windshield and drive around my neighborhood on these 106 degree days, I’m enjoying it.

      If SWEAT is your issue then you need a $2 fan. If HEAT is your issue you need an air conditioner. This, however, is not good at either. Where I live summer peaks 130F. Humidity isn't an issue. It's dry terrible heat that'll strip the soul out your body in a day if you don't carry enough water. This is NOT a good alternative. It's weight and requirements to make it run are way out of spec for a single camper. And it's not good for vehicles compared to built in vehicle air conditioners. Air conditioning doesn't work by shoving the output hose on your nipples. That's not a functional air conditioner.

    Most comprehensive review yet......well done. Yes a spot cooler.....not a space cooler. I use it in my semi truck to cool me at night....not the space. A key thing I learned (videos at my channel) was to try and achieve no 45 to 90 degree turns in the intake and exhaust hoses.....plus keep those hoses as short as possible. I am not getting the hours out of the Mark 2 batteries but they are working with me to determine if it's the batteries or the unit by exchange.....so great CS so far. Bottom line it's an amazing technology and I will not look back either. Cheers to using it as it's meant to be used and sharing a real well thought out review!

      How long does each battery last? I’m in hotshot trucking and I’m between buying this or a generator with a small ac unit. I’m leaning more towards an ac unit with a generator because of costs but the mark zero breeze looks more convenient and takes up less space I was just wondering how long each battery last on economy setting?

    We replaced an old Dometic in our 36 foot camper (vented). th-cam.com/users/postUgkxDDbPbIlwLRcX_ntp51ui5UMtAUGpHYxE The install was a simple swap, all holes lined up, the electric plug back in with no trouble. Getting it on the camper was the most "difficult" part of it, and my friend made it look easy. I've seen people "sled" them up ladders as well though. I watched a TH-cam video for instructions, very easily done. Some say it doesn't come with instructions, but I found the instructions under the ac in the box. I didn't need them, but they were there.It works well to keep a 36 footer comfortable, all by itself. It doesn't seem to be any quieter than the original, but it isn't any louder either. We're very pleased with it. Esp with the ease of swapping them out.

    I'm buying the same power bank for my Sunjoy IceCove. First person i found that is reviewing run times. I know you can do the conversions, but real world applications always have variables. Nice to see someone actually showing what they are getting on the ~1000 power bank.
    One suggestion. They make insulated jackets for the flex duct on your heat outlet. Home depot. For the setup in your truck, I have found that if you insulate the heat exhaust pipe, you can cut down a lot of the bleed back into your space. During a conversion at my house to mini splits, i used a floor stander AC. I grabbed a 6" Insulated jacket for the exhaust because that hose was very hot. Made a world of a difference.

    Thats great that Zerobreeze contacted you. I contacted them when i originally purchased the Mark 1 AC about the fact that the unit needed major modifications to work and to see if they would consider accepting it back so I coukd get this new unit. No communication back, hmmmm.
    I did end up using this new unit and the main problems with this unit at least for a van set up is the following (I am no engineer, so I know there are challenges):
    1.)24v current requires a 12v to 24v step up converter, which will generate a significant amount of heat.
    2.) If you run it off an inverter, the AC house adapter generates heat.
    3.) Due to the size of the BTUs, the compressor and condenser coils needs to be outside to maximize cooling capacity.
    4.) Way to much plastic material that eats up space in your rig, makes it cumbersome with the hoses.
    Oh and your voice is legit, great video😊

    • @Polymathicus
      @Polymathicus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good points. On the first one...when I upgraded my 12 to 24V converter to a higher amperage model it didn't get nearly as hot as the lesser one I had. I could grab it most of the time. I guess if it's rated for more amps than you're using, it struggles less. But for sure, putting a heat generator in a space you're cooling is well....

      No problem. I don't recall off hand. I mention it in my videos about the converter install and in those video descriptions. 20 or 25amp. I’ve been very skeptical of this unit’s ability to cool my truck topper camping setup at night in the Southeast. I just want something to keep me dry and cool at night, but was not convinced that this unit could do it. For me, camping in the Southeast is not an option for about 5 months out of the year, so if this unit can keep me dry and cool at night, it’s worth the money to have the option to camp anytime of the year. Thank you so much for this detailed video as it has completely reversed my thinking.

      You're welcome. If you're ok with cooling YOU, and not the whole space necessarily, then it's a viable solution for sure. The best use I've seen for sleeping in that kind of environment is to put the hose under the covers which apparently with "freeze you out" according to one user.

      @@Polymathicus I'm a Private Investigator here in California. During summer time it gets really hot specifically if not parked under a tree/shade. If I were to purchase the Zero breeze, I would most likely put the hot air expelling at the trunk of my compact sedan. Do you recommend this as a P.I working every single day during summer time? Thank you!

    • @Polymathicus
      @Polymathicus  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is what I used it for. Except it's a bit hotter here. It's not going to cool the vehicle in those conditions, just you, so the "rule" of putting both rear condenser hoses outside is not entirely necessary because it's always going to be hot inside and you're not keeping anything separated at that point. You do absolutely need to get the hot exhaust hose on the back outside, but the intake is not so important. In fact I experimented with leaving the back "intake" hose inside and just cracking windows. This had some effect in exhausting some of the hot air inside, out of the vehicle and just generally got air moving around. My focus was just pointing the front cool air hose at my face and upper body, and occasionally up under my shirt, or up the leg of my shorts. The remote is nice if you're not next to it because as long as the unit is strapped down, if you have to take off you can leave it running and then reach back while driving and turn it off with the remote. I used a Swampy ice model for 14 years and it was wonderful (as long as I pulled in dry air from outside), but this was a game changer to not have to buy ice every day. You do need a big battery to run the Mark 2 all day. I just turned it on when I'd had enough of the heat. I also made custom Reflectix shades that I glued black fabric onto each side that fit perfectly into each of my windows, which kept the heat load down.

    I'm just really surprised that after a year you haven't tried using reflectix to insulate the intake/exhaust pipes for the condenser loop. All that heat is coming back into your vehicle. Plus reflectix on the windows will reduce the amount of heat coming back into your conditioned space. Some folks have used LDPE foam behind the plastic interior panels to further isolate the conditioned space to great effect. With all the windows covered during the summer and the Zero Breeze, it can actually be comfortable instead of just bearable!

    • @Polymathicus
      @Polymathicus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually have custom made reflectix shades made for all windows and use them while working on at least the sunny side. You're right, they work great. I've got fabric glued to each side so as not to scratch my tint, and sewed a binding around the edges so the fabric wouldn't separate. Although as you said it cuts down A LOT in heat load coming in from the windows, it gets so hot outside in full sun that the headliner is almost too hot to touch so most of my heat load at that point is coming in from the roof. So, I agree that insulating the exhaust hose would help prevent the addition of more heat, but insulating that foot of hose (in my case) is like trying to put out a structure fire with a squirt gun.
      But for most non inferno climates, you make great suggestions that I fully agree with.

    • @Bellasafari
      @Bellasafari 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Polymathicus Why does the intake hose need to be from outside? I can understand the exhaust needing to be vented outside. But bringing in 'cooler' air from the inside seems like it would allow the inside of vehicle to cool down just a tad bit more.

    • @Polymathicus
      @Polymathicus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think I might have answered you in another post, but if someone else reads.....I personally use in a vehicle that's much hotter inside than the outside ambient temp so outside is cooler for me. Also, if you are pulling inside air through the condenser coil and then exhausting it outside, you are creating a vacuum inside your space and you'll need to replace that air you're sucking out somehow, and that can only come from....outside, but now it's going to heat your newly cooled air. So if you start with outside air and end the condenser loop outside, then you're not "spoiling" your hopefully cool air inside that you can then keep running through the evaporator coil and get cooler and cooler.

    Thanks for the review, i am looking to put this is my boat cabin. It is very small. Maybe 7 feet by 10 feet. Just big enough to fit a queen size bed for camping and to crawl in. The walls are very well insulated and there are no windows to let in heat. Could it really cool that space properly? Thanks for any advice. I live in south Florida and it gets hot. I will also mainly use this at night.....unless the kids take a nap during the day.

      @Polymathicus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Larger spaces are difficult and that size is much bigger than Zero Breeze rates the Mark 2 as far as cooling capacity. However, many online have great success cooling spaces at night, and if you are in an adequately insulated enclosed space with both hoses coming out the back routed to the outside then you have a chance. Just need to keep in mind that bodies generate a considerable amount of heat, so if you're putting several in that space you have a 2300BTU air conditioner trying to cool the air and fight the heat generated by the people.

    I wonder if you could use the cool condensation water to provide swamp-cooler like efficiency to the incoming outside air? This would have the benefit of vaporising and exhausting it.
    Maybe a simple wick leading into the inlet air hose would do?

    • @Polymathicus
      @Polymathicus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting idea. The only issue I can see is that in the desert where the swamp cooler action would be most beneficial, the Mark 2 doesn't produce any condensation. But I still like the idea, as super dry air conditioned air is even drier and can always use some moisture.

    Also to keep in mind running from a power station, many of them don't have high amp DC plugs and will limit the cigarette lighter port to about 130w. So these smaller stations will need to use the inverter to run it.

    • @Polymathicus
      @Polymathicus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. Someone could make the equivalent of the Max Current Cable from Goal Zero (which I hear has been discontinued), and merge multiple outputs from a power station into a single pair of heavy gauge wires, wired into a converter. But this is an advanced project for sure to make sure all wiring and connections are adequate and will not melt down, and that there is no circuitry or other limitations built into any particular power station that would prevent this. Otherwise, as you suggested, inverter is the way to go, thanks for the tip.

    Great video. It's $1000 dollars. You're paying for portability and the small size. I can buy 3 Portable Room A/C units @8,000 BTU (3 TIMES the BTU of this unit) at that price that will run on that Bluetti. IF you have a grand to toss around, its a cool (pun intended) gadget, however, there are way cheaper ways to get A/C where you want it to go. That Bluetti is a better purchase, that thing is awesome. Why you have it in a car that has A/C I am still not sure why. Also, I concur, you have a awesome radio voice, look into doing some audio books.

    go to home depot get longer hose that will fit the drain and in 90% of vehicle's have a drain plug in the spare tires compartment. pull that plug and run the hose out of it nothing to draining water. now the other bad thing to only using 1 hose on the back of the unit is when you need to have a window open for the intake your pulling the hot air in from the outside into where you want to stay cool vs no extra heat being pulled into the cabin of the vehicle. i used a portable AC in my camper while i was repairing the roof unit and no matter what it sucked because there was no way to put a 2nd hose on it and i had to leave a window cracked open and it would struggle to keep my camper around the mid 70s when it was only in the mid 80s outside. but with youtube i was able to fix my roof unit and been keeping cool ever since. also yes i'm a full time RV'er

    Apparently you don't know this but you can drink the water for condensation that that zer0 air conditioner put out you can either filter it or not it just depends on what your water looks like after it comes out but you can drink it. People don't understand this. It's the same type of water that comes out of a condensation machine that the military uses, so, think about it.

      I sent them an email asking them to send me one to make videos doing exactly that. Maybe they'll respond. I'm sure someone will have some videos up in short order either way. It's an interesting set of specs for sure. There's a line somewhere (a sweet spot) where BTU's and power consumption meet that make it useful for mobile/portable use. I don't think 4000BTU's is still going to be able to cool a space in the sun, and it's going to be a lot heavier with the batteries it's going to take to run that for hours. But it could also hit that sweet spot perfectly for all I know.

      @@Polymathicus I HOPE they send you a unit. I would love to see your "side by side", i.e. same conditions with the EcoFlow Wave. This video was very helpful to me, though! I live in NW Montana and RV in the Northwest AND am a heat wimp! Fortunately, very low humidity and a small house (1100 sq feet) so am able to use 2 12000 BTU "portable" (I call them behemoth A/C on wheels) to cool my house helped by 2 fans to move air around. I do vent both hoses outside. I have been wrapping hoses in reflectix spiral wrap but it is ugly and tends to gap but I found a hose cover made for the purpose which works better. It does make a big difference as the exhaust hose particulary gets very hot. But, I get your previous comment about most heat in your car coming through the roof and I don't have that issue in the house. Bottomline, though, this video has made me adjust expectations and understand what a 4000 btu (Ecoflow wave) might do (small office and/or RV) vs the 12000 BTU's that I have. Thank you!!

      I'm trying to decide between the zerobreeze and wave. I just got a Delta Pro for power and a couple solar panels. I'm hoping to be able to stay cool enough in one room of the house during the next power outage after a hurricane. I think I'll be okay with my fridge (trying the Delta Pro right now and I think it'll keep the fridge going for at least 24 hours without a recharge) but not sure about a portable AC and if the solar panels can keep up. I do like that the zerobreeze you can get two batteries and swap them out. I think you can charge the zerobreeze batteries on their own, not connected to it, right? The wave doesn't have a battery so I'd either have to keep it plugged into the Delta Pro or buy another smaller battery. Not sure if it will be that much cooler to be worth it. I'm new to all of this so trying to learn about what everything means and how it works.

    • @Polymathicus
      @Polymathicus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, glad it helped out. I don't care for the heat myself. We have a 15k BTU on our 20ft RV and that thing struggles in certain sunny parts of the country during hot days. But I would guess the NW is a bit more forgiving.

    • @Polymathicus
      @Polymathicus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on the size and conditions of the room. I think the specs on the Mark 2 said ~42 cubic feet of space is what it's rated to cool and that isn't with sun beating down on it. So, that's a very small space. There are cooling BTU calculators online you can use to get an idea of what BTU's you need.
      I thought I read that you can get an "add on" battery for the wave. Maybe I'm thinking of something else. and yes you can charge the Mark 2 battery on it's own.
      200 watts of solar (in full sun) can run the Mark 2 without using battery for the most part. The wave, maybe double. If you're going to use at night however you'll need to make that up the next day so you'd have to at least double, maybe triple your solar wattage, depending on how large your battery is and how many days you'd have to run things.
      Good luck!

    As far as I know, card aren’t air-tight even with the windows closed. This is why a car’s A/C has a “recirculate” option, so you shouldn’t have a problem leaving the windows up and just having the exhaust leaving the car such as you have it. Am I wrong?

    • @Polymathicus
      @Polymathicus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, not air tight for sure. However if you're exhausting the inside air from a closed vehicle, I don't know that the small cracks and gaps in weather strips will allow enough air in to efficiently refill what is being sucked out by a fan and 4" duct as quickly as it's being exhausted. Someone may have told me most newer vehicles have a "door" that closes in the dash sometime after the vehicle is off closing off the outside air also.
      To your second point about "re-circulation". The recirculate function "recirculates" the inside air in the vehicle through the evaporator coil in the dash around and around so the cold air gets colder and colder in a closed loop. On the Mark 2, the evaporator coil is the one on the front end (that blows on you) so that is always running in "recirculating" mode (recirculating the inside air). The condenser coil in the back that the exhaust hose is connected to is what purges the "hot" that is generated by cooling the inside air. This is the same as the condenser coil in a vehicle that looks like a skinny radiator that sits right in front of the actual radiator. This is in this position because it's hot, so it's most efficient to have it outside the cool vehicle and keep that process separate and outside, and keep the evaporator coil and dash fan inside in the cool space. Since the Mark 2 is portable, they have no choice but to put them together in the same case. The workaround, is to run hoses outside to bring in that outside air, blow it through the condenser coil, then purge that now hot air back outside and keep it separate from the inside cool air. Keeping that inlet hose inside and only purging the hot side sucks your now cool air right out of the vehicle and has to be eventually replaced through the somewhat porous vehicle seals by...hot outside air. Hope that helps....if anyone made it to the end.
      Now one huge caveat. I started doing exactly what you're talking about and leaving the inlet hose inside the vehicle and cracking a couple window open purposely letting in "hot" air from outside. In my situation, parked in full sun in the summer, the sun makes it hotter inside than outside no matter how long the Mark 2 runs, so it actually helps purge some of that stagnant super heated air inside in that case. The cool air blowing right on me is what keeps me from sweating as long as it's blowing on me.
