Colin TNX so much for the inspirational Video ! will build this soon and hope to have a QSO sometime from Arkansas . Did see the other Video but hearing the low noise has really got my interest . my TS590SG will enjoy it ! Many Blessings - 73 , AJ W5heh
Your welcome. I was pretty sure this was a very quiet antenna from my first tests but doing the A/B comparison really shown the difference. I love my TS590. 2 antenna sockets and an RX port.
Noise should scale in dB as 10 log10 (rx bandwidth), so a high Q antenna will be low noise provided there is little noise directly on your tuned frequency.
Bit of a spur of the moment thing Chuck. CA may have been a stretch at this time of day, usually you guys come in bit later on as long as the north pole isnt absorbing all the RF.
Good video. I know it was cold but a few more details on that build would be helpful for us old facts trying to home brew. I'm going to colocate it on my GP6 fiberglass mast just below that feed. Its going to my 590s too, Thanks Colin
10 been ok not as good as last year but still time for the peak by march april all be over a lot of stations blasting well over 1000 watts which is a bit of a killer for me
Amazing, normally verticals are always noisier, seems a bit odd eh. You can never tell what's ants will do ,until you get them on the air, that's why I never bother with ant software progs hi.
Those guys in Massachusetts are always on 28.375

Excellent Colin. The A/B test really showed the difference!
Yes very surprising. The 590 has a very lazy meter compared to Icom where the difference would be more.
Loving the signal to noise on the vertical.
Who said verticals were noisey. Yes it's unbelievable how quiet it is.
Great build!
Thanks, keep it simple if you can.
Super stuff Colin!
Thanks mate!
Great job bro 10m has been great for the last month
My favourite band by far Andy.
Great video very big difference on the A/B antenna I will be very interesting to build this antenna. Great video
Thanks, the 590 has a very lazy meter too!
Great vid with some good contacts. 🎙️
Thanks, if I could have stayed longer I would have likely picked up more NA.
10M my favorite band
Great design..
Thanks, not mine but working really well.
Evening all, just caught the end, will watch back.
Cheers Stu, hope you got the beam up?
@@MM0OPXFieldRadio yes Colin, it's working a treat, worked loads of DX already, will give it another go at the weekend on the 10m contest.
Great job Colin, wish I had known you where in. Next time

Its had its moments this year. Yeah its a pitty when everyone is running silly power. Its not needed on 10. Then becomes like 20m and a struggle.

Yes its really quiet Brian as well as better by 2 s points on the 590. Thats at least 12db.
Very good job my friend! de R3IBZ 73
