My fiance came out of petco with a guinea pig that was up for adoption and he is the sweetest! Although he only got 1 and I told him they are heard animals and we needed two, so I was able to get my dream piggy, a skinny pig! A few weeks later and the 2 piggies are inseparable! If I get 1 out the other squeals till he's back in there with him! It's very sweet. I've watched all your pig videos and I've learned a lot so thank you! ❤ much love, alyssa!

4:25 ish, make sure if you DO build a cage out of wood that you’re lining the cage with a watertight material such as chloroplast or canvas, as plain wood will absorb urine and can cause health problems due to ammonia, and no matter how well you try to clean the wood it will always smell

Yo this is exactly what I have been looking for, I think with all the guinea pig TH-cam creators that there would be unlimited shopping list and or a food lists that are printable or even set up in a way that can be written down easily but that’s really not the case. I guess I just want to say thank you for taking the time to make such a user friendly printable list of must haves for beginner guinea pig owners!!

I know this is a year old video now, but I had some ladies come into my work, and force me to take a box of piggies or else they'd be going to the dumpster- none of my coworkers could take them on the spot, and I already have 11 rats so I had a decent amount of rodent stuff already (beds, fleeces, toys, treats, etc.), and since I've never cared for Guineas before, this video was soo helpful to confirm what I needed just on the spot!
I made a temporary "4×2" out of an old cage floor pan, fleece, and a carboard rattie playpen I made previously, and will be investing in a larger Kavee c&c cage with a loft and all.
My new mama and baby girl piggies thank you for this info 🖤

When I got a hay bag I cried my eyes out for abt 40 mins because my guinea pigs weren’t in their cage, I looked for them EVERYWHERE even ended up looking in the vacuumed cleaner....turns out they both where in the hay bag snuggling with the hay

I personally agree with this and I used to use critic Critical care with my first guinea pig since she had a issue with her teeth and I also agree with a lot of things you said in this video I definitely this video can help someone who is interested in adopting a guinea pig!

Great timing, I'm getting ready to adopt at the end of the month. And I remember how much my old piggie loved brushing, she would go full pancake mode and softly purr. She loved it more than veggies
I was watching her other video but I wasn’t totally sure how many pellets and veggies do you feed two guinea pigs? I know she listed measurements on her other vid but I didn’t know if it was for one or two piggies

@@Hannahrogo_479 the measurements were for one pig. So each pig will get 1/8 cup of pellets and 1 cup of veggies a day

I had a hay rack, but it was way to small and I wound up having to refill many times throughout the day. I decided I had enough of that, so I decided to sew my own hay bag. best decision of my life, I refill once a day. Now I don't need to worry about my piggy taking the rack off the side of the cage and tossing it around.

You can also do DIY sotorage bin hay holders make two to three hole on the lid close to them to reach and make hooks 🪝 holes in the back And in bottom another long storage bin with bedding so they poop and eat. Super cheap and easy to fill up

If your on a budget for a hide you can use cardboard and make it a square and cut out a door way thingy and it's also chewable! You can also use some cardboard tunes stuff hay and use it as a forge toy for at least 1 toy.

I had those water bottles and for me they poured water out 😂 we usually end up replacing our bottled every 3 months due to leaking, i just ordered choconose ones which i heard are great but i hate how small they are (i have 5 piggys so i like the big bottles even though i refill them daily)

You're so great with guinea pigs and you taught me so much on how to care for them! I started watching you years ago and then your pet channel came and i convinced my parents to let me get guinea pigs and i have now had them for 1 month they are 2 years old and their names are Charlie and Gizmo. Charlie is peruvian/absyinnian (I think) and Gizmo is absyinnian ( I think) And they are both males! I will try to email you pictures of them.
So sadly Gizmo had died he died last night at 9:10PM and it was very sudden so now Charlie is alone :( He seems very very sad but luckily I'm getting him a friend on friday! I'm going with my bff Friday is sadly the soonest I can get him a new friend I have already decided on the pigs name, the age I want, and the breed. His name will be Winnie I want him to be around 6 months or under Charlie is 2 and a half. And the breed I want is an American short hair (I think that's what they're called) I'll update you when I get him.
If i ever get a piggy ima get 2 big bins with timothy hay in it as a food and burrow box!
