- Since losing their vivacious son Owen to an incurable brain tumor in 2020, Amanda and Adam Petrezelka have made it their mission to protect other parents from knowing their pain. Amanda shared remarks at Lurie Children’s 2022 Annual Meeting to demonstrate the critical need for philanthropic support to further pediatric brain tumor research - an area of research that currently only receives four percent of federal funding. #braintumorawarenessmonth #braintumorresearch

There is nothing worse in this world than a beloved child suffering. There urgently needs to be more funding for research and treatments for childhood brain tumours, it cannot continue to be a death sentence. From the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry and sad for Owen who endured not only the brutal effects of the tumour but all those treatments. Condolences to Owen's mummy and daddy and siblings. Owen, one hundred per cent, you were a champ in every way.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sweet Owen…bless his heart and all the rest of your family. I have also lost a son so I understand your pain. I pray that this loss in your life is the only one you ever have to face in yours or any of your other children. I know nothing help…I am sorry.

Why can't the government give money for research for this devastating disease?? Its absolutely horrible that we send trillions to Ukraine and have kiddos dying from a cancer that needs to be curable!!!
