I just added panning for the first time after watching this video to one of my songs. This was the single most noticeable and easy upgrade to my sound I have come across after two years of recording music. I cant believe I was not using this already. It was night and day and this video in particular opened my eyes to the possibility. I have watched a few other videos about panning but it never made sense until this. Thank you very much!

This was very helpful for me, as I'm sure it was for many others. The differences in your examples were astounding

You didn't mention the "Stereo Combined Panner" which allows you to narrow a stereo sound and then shift it off center. Great for those lush strings for example, bias the violins to the left, violas slightly more towards the center for example maintain their stereo sound. Sometimes stereo recorded instruments are too wide (often congas or bongos) Stereo Combined Panner can narrow that stereo sound and place it nicely. In the mixer view, right click on the panner and choose Stereo Combined Panner, then you can adjust the width by dragging up and down and the placement by dragging left or right. Well worth a look at.

It's like a one year lecture on panning broken down and then delivered effectively in 15 minutes and I also learnt new things. Thank you very much sir.

Man! Just the 4 videos I've watched so far have made making the music a lot more fun! Along with the automation and quantize videos, i've learned a ton in under an hour

Thanks so much for this video! I'm making the first song I intend to publish and the mixing aspect of it has been quite challenging to understand. I couldn't imagine panning was so important, but it makes all the difference. I kept wondering why I was having trouble making some instruments stand out, and panning solved this issue. Thank you again!

Thank you very much! Great and clear video. I just would like to add about "talking instruments", when they take turns (e.g. violin plays, then flute plays, then violin plays, then flute plays...) - in that case if you put one on the left and another to the right, you'll get two instruments, which "talk" to each other.

Very nice. From history of panning to basic do's and don'ts.
Maybe zooming in on part of the screen where your mouse is, or use one of those highlighted mouse pointers, for easier seeing where the action is, wouldn't be bad.

I agree with everything here although I do usually take two tracks for the main vox, either recorded stereo or separate mono's as I feel it gives a little more oomph. From here I pan them just off center left/right (being careful of phasing) ... just saying is all ...seems to work fine in a finished mix. Love the new format ..thanks

Good morning, thank you for your videos, they are fantastic. I have cubase AI 10, when I import my score from Dorico Pro, it sounds awful, how can I select an enter the instruments I am using. I am using the library of East West Sound. Do you have a video step by step. I am new at this. Thank you for your help.

What about mixing for a phone? Some of my mixes sound good on nice speakers, but on my phone they sound really bad. I don’t hear this when I listen to professional music, like a rock band sounds good on speakers and on my phone. I think cause I’m dealing with analog instruments it’s a little more difficult
