This must be the best explanation of how a compressor functions. Also the reminder of on which track to put the sidechaining. I'm using the the compressor you guide through. The music I make is EDM and Chill with a German gothich touch.
User side-chaining very often especially between kick and other subsonic sounds or where I want it to stand out. Really great for vocals in controlling virtually anything to ensure that the vocal remains prominent if that's what I am looking for at the time. I wish all of my plug in's had side-chaining ability built in.
I'd like to know more about how to side-chain effects like reverb or delay. Until watching this video it never even occured to me that would be possible.
♪♫ lovely. A SHORT BUT COMPLETE GUIDE, THIS IS JUST WHAT I WANTED TO KNOW, there is lot more, of course, but with this explanation one can go ahead and try a lot more . love it, thanks ♪♫
For me the most useful part of the video is the summary at 9.30 mins. I think it's one of those techniques that is so "obvious" and "simple" that when people explain it, it's almost like explaining it to someone who already knows ! Not complaining, I just wish the summary of how to actually do it was at the beginning as well. Overall the video was useful so don't want to come across too moany. 🙂
Great topic but a more detailed point to point tutorial video would be much appreciated. I mix voice overs in Cubase Elements 9.5 and side chain compression might me a useful tool. Keep on doing the good work. We love Cubase.
Thank you for the awesome video. I was wondering how is the setup for ducking effect with vocals and a delay. I noticed your have stereo delay as insert on the Mono vocal track followed by Compressor. Would be please tell us what are you feeding the compressor as input?
Came here to learn about side-chaining and many hours later, I find that Cubase Elements doesn't have the side-chaining function.... migth have to change for Reaper, unless you guys are planning on doing something about it in 11.5?
finally an easy to understand explanation of how a compressor and side-chaining works, thanks Steinberg!
First explanation of side-chaining I've understood. Much appreciated!
Best explanation on sidechaining and compression out there. Thanks!

Thank you so much! This was simply put, and very easy to understand. I got a ton out of this!

@Cubase Where is this guy? He was more professional and much better at explaining than the present one!
I didn't know what I didn't know. Thank you.

As far is I know, elements doesn't allow sidechaining.
@@victorbicudo1374 Unfortunetly, even 10.5 :/
@@AlleGomesOficial but if you're in that point when you need sidechaining for a mix, i say go PRO, my friend.
@@victorbicudo1374 I'm think about it, would be a good investment
Could you please make another video showing how a muted complex rhythm track can be used to modulate another track via sidechain? Cheerio!!!
Decent video. Cheers
Great informative video
what compressor is this?
any idea how to do this if my version of cubase doens't have the sidechain button?

I guess I got it! The input is the FX track.
3:20 Funny, when it is about hearing what the vocalist is saying, there is not a single instance where you can hear what she is singing ;-)

Cubase Elements 11 has the side chaining function. Only works with VST3 effects and the plugin has to support side chaining.
@@scopellafranqui I learned it's finally in the 11th version, I'll update soon, just too poor right now haha
