I'm always happy when Deep Purple comes out with a new record. I think they're contenders for the greatest band of all time - just for their sheer perseverance. As long as there's 2 Ians & a Roger in the band, it's PURPLE! 🤘🤘
Definitely the best hard rock album of the year. As a Death metal thrasher I have a few albums that I prefer, but this one is awesome. When I was 7 purple doing it right, 50 yrs later and this album drops and it's not like it's the first in 40 yrs or something. These dudes are the real deal. Unbelievable.
Listen to it 6 times since yesterday. Great album for sure. Best since Perfect Strangers. Your right Ralphael the guitar of McBride blows me away as well. Even the slower songs are killer. Glad you mentioned Paice, and Airey they are sounding great!!!! Priest was the best of the year……til now. IMO 😁🤘🏻
Good review, Ralph. I've spun this album about 5 times now and also think it's excellent. Hard to believe they are as old as they are! Purple is definitely one of the best bands all time. Already was, but =1 just adds another reason.
Best album since The Battle Rages On. And this has two reasons: Simon McBride and Don Airey! DP back with a hardrock guitar and a lot of great keyboard. Paice, Glover and Gillan solid like ever and a great Ezrin production! 8,5/10 Deep Purple is back after boring Morse years. Purplendicular was good. But the rest was not my DP anymore. I like Morse in other projects but not Purple.
I couldn't write it better. I also think this album is their best since The Battle Rages On, and the reason is that combination of Simon & Don are pretty much bringing back the Ritchie & Lord element that was missing, and gosh, with such force. Its like the band was sinking all these years by having the wrong guitarist, who never listened to the band, he needed Ezrin to put him in place. Each song could fit into anything they produced on 70', it takes a bit of production imagination and its there. So glad them masters found their identity once again. Glad to see more of this opinion. Salute :)
I agree, that guitarist really works with Purple. Cool to see Airey on keys. Loved him from his Ozzy /Randy years and I think he did keys on Never Say Die album also.
I agree that this album rocks. I can't wait to see them again. I have tickets for pnc arts center and Jones Beach. I might see them in CT also. Unfortunately all my favorite bands are getting old and i want to see them live as much as i can. 🤘

Since the late '90s they have been consistently great

Excellent album! Ian Paice is a freak of nature 🤘
I couldn't agree more!
"Sharp Shooter" rocks the whole way through with a great DP style riff! Like it a lot.
Agreed - McBride got me listening again. I never got into Steve Morse. I was blown away by Portable Door the first time I heard it.
It wouldn't surprise me if it's the best album of 2024.

The Battle Rages On could be my favorite deep purple album of the 23, so that's a pretty bold statement.😊

Nothing will beat the beast that is the Priest...but then, I haven't listened to this record in its entirety yet.
Actually, I think it's a federal law.
