My favourite Super Smash Bros.! The "1P Stage Clear" fanfare at 3:46 can't be matched by the others at all. The "Vs. Mode Results" music was also perfect in the same way. While the other instalments are fun, they aren't quite as special as this one is to me.
Try and find this game anywhere on the net for less than $80. The console itself, not hard to source for less than $50. But this is a part of my childhood I need to have back...crossing my fingers Santa will be good to me this year :)
It is on the Wii eShop for about $10. I am getting it for free through Club Nintendo, meaning that I bought a lot of Nintendo stuff and put codes in the internet.

+Uptown Veen I feel like this needed an answer, so long story short it is because of Kirby. It was considered a cost effective way to make a double of a character without actually making a copy. Also, at the time when the game was being produced, Jigglypuff was considered extremely popular in Japan due to appearances in Anime and multiple commercials, while Pikachu was considered popular in North America. If anything, Pikachu was considered to be the unlikely one to appear in the game since it was not originally suppose to be brought into North America. Droppin' some knowledge on ya. :D
That and the fact that in this game everyone only had 3 specials (B-button moves) in their moveset. Case in point: Ness's PK Fire used to be neutral B, but is now Side-B since Melee. Conversely, Pikachu retains Thunder Jolt as neutral B but gained Skull Bash as a Side-B.
