I was brought here by "Grace & Favour", the sequel to "Are you being served?", where this house doubled for Millstone Manor. I would love to visit here someday!

Yes, it was used in 'Grace and Favour'. If you are a fan of the Poirot series the episode 'Mysterious Affair at Styles" was also filmed there - lots of indoor scenes. Chavenage is usually open to the public but because of the problems with Covid they have had to scale down visits to the house. The interiors of the latest 'Poldark' were also filmed at Chavenage.

I love Lark Rise to Candleford! I didn't realize Chavenege was a set for that series when it was featured on another series (I think it was You can't get the help). I notice that it was put up for sale a year ago.

Hello. thank for your comment. Chavenage has been used in lots of TV series. If you like Poirot with David Suchet, Chavenage is used in the episode Mysterious Affair at Styles. Lots of interior scenes. Chavenage is also open to the public during the summer months - people have written excellent reviews of their time there. Caroline and other members of the family do the tours. Also, open for weddings, parties etc.

You can see a lot more of this house in the Poirot episode 'Mysterious Affair at Styles' - you will enjoy it.

Hello Josephine, Yes, the interiors were filmed there. If you are a fan of Poirot one of the early episodes with David Suchet - Mysterious Affair at Styles show lots of the inside of this beautiful house. In fact many films and TV series have been filmed at Chavenage.

Dear Lucy, Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. You can get in touch with the Lowsley-Williams family, who will have any recorded information on the Stephens family.
Chavenage has only been in your and the present family for nearly 400 years. I would be interested to hear what you find out.

Anne White my father did our family tree right back to the 1300's it's so sad I missed out on living in this beautiful old house, as for the stephens line dying out there are still 4 of us left! Lol

Hello again Lucy - I know how you feel to a degree - I am a descendant of the Ingram family who owned and lived in Temple Newsam - my surname was Ingram. All the money was lost over the many years but not the sense of our heritage. Sir Arthur Ingram (16th Century) was a bit of a character - some say rogue but what an amazing house that is. (Google it.) Oh, well we have the heritage but not the property!!! Anne xx
