I can tell you, first-hand, that that top note definitely demands the attention of anyone playing this waltz. You know right away it has to fit perfectly into the run-up, all of which has to be smooth, even, and effortless. That final note is the period on a musical sentence. And Tiffany accomplishes all of that here. Fred
@@Its_sarina I suppose some performers such as Elton John and Liberace sincerely enjoyed putting on their outrageous costumes for all to see; after all, their attire was part of the act and their respective audiences demanded it. Some of us consider those costumes a distraction.
It's a very good performance. Her turns are excellent, better than Rubinstein or Horowitz IMO. A matter of taste, but I like Zimerman's interpretation best of all those I have heard. But I agree with almost all her musical shapes (with some slight differences in the central section) and try to play most of them myself. This is an intermediate level piece (well within the amateur range), so these top level performances are really useful.
This waltz is my favorite...especially the melody around 1:42. my chest feels so tight with indescribable emotions. It’s just true beauty. As someone around your age and used to play this piece, I’m in awe with your talent and dedication!! Rooting for you!!
Every time you play a song that I like, you transform it into something better than I've ever heard... Easily the best recording of this piece I've heard.
I've always admired the limitless capabilities of Valentina Lisitsa. No denying she is one of this world's finest virtuosos. While looking for this particular Chopin Waltz, I thankfully came upon Tiffany Poon's performance. In her facial expressions, though slight, the motion of her body, and the complete conviction she exhibits while performing, unite to affirm she feels the emotion of the piece, she becomes the piece; she IS the piece. Bravo
Magnificent play! You seem really absorbed into the music. This is literally the best cover of Waltzes Op. 64 No. 2 I know. I hope one day I could play as good as you, Tiffany! Your music keeps me alive. God bless you 💛
I doubt I'm alone when I say this is my absolutely favourite Chopin composition. Ms. Poon plays it beautifully and it's a joy to listen to her... again and again and again.
I've heard "this" played many times during my 83 years...don't recall it being this awesome!! I wonder if people realize that this beautiful young lady might just be an "angel unawares"...smile.
Sometimes I just don't get why people would dislike this video... I just don't get it! like why would you dislike a video of a wonderful talented pianist playing such a wonderful piece... :( Btw Love ya Tiffany!
Classic music fans are the most unbearable ever. Every piece is imperfect and lack emotion or something for them. You can find those kind of comments even in renowned professional players.
People look for very specific things in classical performances. Some would say the "tempo giusto" wasn't observed. Some will say that the repeats weren't varied enough. Some will say it lacked emotion. Some would say the slow middle section was too fast. Bottom line: you can't please everyone. Just enjoy the music!
It is indeed very beautiful and it sounds fantastic. I'm currently restoring a '68 Steinway Model O. Its going to be a long project but definitely will be worth it. They just don't quite make 'em like they did then anymore. What piano do you play Samantha?
Tiffany, this is exactly what I needed tonight. A subtle, profound, inspired Chopin. You didn't play piano on this one, you simply played music. Beautiful !
I was working and set TH-cam to "My Mix." Sometimes a performance makes me stop working. I never expected one of them to be from that young a player. I am really amazed! I think I may like this rendition of this mature Chopin waltz as much as my favorite ones. Because of this I went on to listen to more than 20 interpretations! I'm glad I found some that I didn't know, including the ones by Malcuzynski, Cziffra, Kempff and Rachmaninoff. Subscribing and hoping to watch Tiffany Poon live some day!
Many thanks, Tiffany! You have many admirers here, not just for your wonderful playing but for your willingness to reveal yourself to us in these videos.
I originally thought this piece will be too hard for me. But I learned the entire piece in 2 weeks. So you never know what you can achieve until you try.
Bravo! I really like this tempo and you play with the perfect balance of a dance and feeling. This is one of the better performances I have heard of this piece.
Excellent rendition.I also feel it this way. So musical. Many other pianists play it to show their dexterity and technique. I sincerely think this is the way it should be played.Well done Tiffany !
Hello Tiffany! You have discovered to me the world of piano music. I really like the music you perform. And I like how beautiful you reproduce it. This is the second work that I listen to in the morning and afternoon and evening and at night. Thanks Tiffany!
Bravo!!!! I wanna play this piece like you with all my heart... actually my favourite Chopin’s Walz... but also “la valse de l’adieu” and “grande valse brillante”
In C# minor, wth a middle part in D♭ major; returning to the original C# theme at the end. Incidentally, this is one of three waltzes in this opus. Op. 64 No. 1 is the "Minute Waltz" in D♭ major. Op. 64 No. 3 is in A♭ major, and is kind of "drunk" - but still quite beautiful. It kinda wanders around, seemingly at random, but always returns home. Brava, Tiffany! You've given me some ideas for how to approach this, differently from what I've been doing. Fred
Those grace notes are soo satisfying to listen! Makes me wanna dance everytime lol Especially in the più mosso part, you can definitely hear the waltz of the left hand!
did you love this piece? put your emotion through your finger and just feel the key, no need to compare with other professional pianist, sometime learn from them is good
I am a fan of you Ms. Tiffany. I always love the version that you are playing. there is so much so soul in it! Thank you for inspiring us... By the way, all the way from the Philippines.

For some reason this piece really resonates with me... It feels nostalgic yet there is no specific memory attached to it.
Chopin will do that to ya :)
She never shows off; nor does she overdress. Her manner/style performing this masterpiece is what I strive to imitate in all respects.
She’s quite a humble person ❤️
Wtf does dressing up has to do with being humble are ya'll crazy or something?

Such a haunting, melancholy piece. Beautifully played. Can't beat Chopin when someone plays it like that.
Hmmmm, i was commenting on nocturne 20 in c sharp minor, not this piece.
