    I have been using a Sog seal pup since I lost my addiction to Rambo knives. If you are going to hike any distance the light weight of this size of knife has real pluses.

    Hey, you make great videos, I am very much into stuff like this. I just wanted to thank you and I'm glad there is still good review channels like this one. Keep working hard on your videos like you always do.

    I still love AUS8 steel. The fact that it bends before it breaks. But maintaining a good 56 or 57HRC as a minimum. Thanks for the video.

    I have always thought of serrations as a crutch for those that don't tend to their edge, but I have to admit, that is probably just my bias; there are definitely times when a serrated blade is the best tool.

    • @alijankhan3330
      @alijankhan3330 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @drmaudio apparently there's some underwear cutting for which a serrated is vastly superior. In a life or death scenario I wouldn't want to hope a plain edge does the trick...good to have the serrated back up

    Great review brother. I agree I'd like to see that offered any plain edge version.

    Would you reccomend buying both the SOG seal pup and just the sheath of the SOG seal strike? Or will it not fit and cause all kinds of problems.

    I was just curious about the coating on the blade. Did the marks and discoloration that the fire starter put on the blade come off easy or did they leave any permanent marks?

    • @TheLateBoyScout
      @TheLateBoyScout  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Wolvetad It cleaned right up with a little bit of oil and a shop towel.

      Cool this vid and that info, I think I'm sold :) Thanks for the quick response too greatly appreciated. I was researching this knife and the cold steel leatherneck sf. I'm leaning towards the SOG because of the weight, but thought man if the coating gets messed up that easy. I was re considering. Thanks for clearing that up for me though and letting me know it cleaned right up

      @@TheLateBoyScoutso it's not a safety measure against being cut, more for preventing blisters from friction, right?

    • @TheLateBoyScout
      @TheLateBoyScout  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@antonroux6737 Right, but also protection against scrapes, scratches, and splinters from the branches I was working on. But no, they're not to protect me from the blade.

    Ive been thinking either this or a benchmade 375 and I cannot decide! It's hard to choose between the looks of this blade, or the reliability of the 375.
    Only reason I DONT simply choose the 375 is price.
    Your opinion late boyscout?

    • @JPzTubez
      @JPzTubez 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jayson201 If quality is important, the BM375 is a far better knife. I actually got mine on the second hand market for less than the price of the Seal Strike. Has a better sheath, far better steel, better look, plain edge and you know it's made in america by a trustworthy company. I'm not dogging the seal strike, but for the cost of the Seal Strike, it just feels overpriced for the materials you get.

    I am one who don't like serrated knives either and would not buy that knife because of that. The sheath is built nicely though and better than many knives I own, or heard of.

    Better to wear gloves to save your thumb and have more protection from the zombies ! Would like to get this in all black for my 5.11 Tactical LBE Vest to fight off the zombies that peak in late October ! My IFAK has an Umbrella moral patch. Looks like a great light weight survival knife ! tjl

    • @timlipinski2571
      @timlipinski2571 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tim Lipinski This light weight survival tactical knife is strong enough to feed the Emberlit Titanaium UL stove. A stove can use one half the fuel of an open campfire and not attract the attention of the zombies ! The fuel can be gathered in one to two hours and not two to four hours and also save the forest. And the handle can bash the head of a zombie. And the sheath can be the back-up for the back-up survival kit ! Thank you for a great video ! tjl

    I'd like the dub that knife tip , a harpoon point. Looks like something Ahab would clench in his teeth as he takes on the beast, Moby Dick.

    Great review, but I can't see it doing more than a higher quality knife at a better price point. I haven't seen SOG do anything impressive in years. This is no different.

    I do not know it why you had a product made in Taiwan.
    I am absorbed too much to lower it by cost and think that the manager who does not seem to know that I lower the pawn of own product is disqualification.
    I do not buy the SOG knife throughout the life anymore if I do not make a product made in conventional Japan.
    There is few it, and there is not the human being who thinks so!

    I find it has too many bells and whistles to sell the knife. If you want lightweight, there are the moras to compete. But some guys like their knives to look like Rambo type knives.

    I stop watching when a reviewer starts chopping with a knife. It's not only poor use of a knife, it's stupid. There's always a much better way to do the job. Truly silly. Of course, so is this knife for amateurs who want to look really cool.

  • @bluegrasssurvival9423
    @bluegrasssurvival9423 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    This knife sheath has alot of survival features, but when you look at the blade itself it is anything BUT a survival knife. That clip point is way to weak to stab and pry. The blade is to thin to reliably batton with, and it looks way over designed. In my experience the best blades are usualy the most simplistic.I wanna say that this would make a decent combat knife, but IMHO you want at least a 7 inch blade for that task. So I guess to sum it up; This knife is really not great at anything, and not something I would bet my life on for combat or survival.
