    My car is doing a strange noise I commented on your other video regarding this, can most likely be the bearing or the top mount of the strut? Im just about to order the parts, i know bearing go bad, any clue? If top mount go bad you did mention you had same problem

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best way to describe my noise was it was very noticeable at low speeds like turning to get into the garage. It sounded like the steering wheel was rubbing on rubber, mixed with a slightly grinding sound.
      I had somebody else get into the car while I listen underneath the hood and found it was the top of the shock. Replacing that strut bushing fixed everything

      @@ALKUKES it might be: Front Shock Absorber Bearing Febest BZB-212F Oem A2049810025.
      Double check the fitment when you pull up the part number.
      I remember there being two versions, one was labeled for "rough country regions' And I may have ordered that one thinking it was taller or something. Good luck

      I have the exact same noise coming from both driver and passenger side after lowering with H&R springs. Was told I needed to replace the upper strut mount and bearings. @ALKUKES is this what you did and did it work for you? @ExoticCarDIY did you do this for the red car as well? It looks lowered and apparently this is common with lowered cars?

    Great video! So to summarize for the front you installed lowering springs and for the rear you installed lowering links to “fool” the sensors?
    Two questions (btw I appreciate your videos they are super helpful!)
    1. Did you have to adjust camber to factory spec for both front and rear?
    2. Can you still raise the rear?
    Thanks!

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, springs up front and then links for the rear. I actually can lower the rear with my MB xentry system, but I didn't have it yet.
      Lowering definately increased negative camber, especially in the front. The rear was out of spec, but not excessive, the front required and alignment, which I did myself. You can actually find the alignment video if you search through my channel.
      And yes, The rear still goes up and down just as it did before.

      @@ExoticCarDIY Thanks for that information. Even at factory camber spec my front tires get chewed out pretty quick in the inside and these tires ain’t cheap! I was able to rotate my tires for better wear from inside to outside (right to left and left to right) as my tires are directional. What tires are you running and have you had any problems with your tires wearing out unevenly?

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@akoust1c right now not enough miles to tell. The factory specs are aggressive, -1.5* and 8 degrees of caster, so it's going to wear on those insides a lot even when set up correctly.
      As you can see in my alignment video, those Mercedes bolts only change it by 0.15... That's really not going to have a whole lot of impact.
      My e55 was similar, and it wore to the cords on the inside pretty quick.
      I installed kmac bushings on it, they allow for a lot of adjustment and it evened out the way perfectly. I went from -2.5* / 12* to -1.3*/8* camber/caster
      I'm currently running Michelin pilot supersports

      A bit subjective. Our roads are great here in the Florida, I have zero complaints about the road in my car with any of the 3 springs setups I've tried. Stock, h&r, KW, all have provided good rides here.
      Now other people have repeated KW rides the best.

    You also got 4matic? My local dealer told me that the h&r 29028-2 only fits e63 2wd. He also said that in h&r website it says 2wd.

      When you look on h&r's website it says nothing about these being restricted to the rear wheel drive model. Just Google 29028-2
      Click on any of the links like ECS tuning or pelican parts click on compatibility they are for all the w212 4matic e63s

    Where did you buy the adjustable links from?

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I got them off ebay, i had to return them once because they couldn't even adjust to stock length, only like -30mm to -60mm (too low). he resent the correct ones however. eitherway, just a heads up.

    Hey , did you get a Ride height malfunction after installing the H R front springs?

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not. However when you scan it with xenry, it definitely knows it's been lowered, which affects the headlights
      The headlights are Auto leveling, but they're also tied into the suspension to get their baseline. You will notice when you lower your car, your headlights are actually going to point up higher than they should.
      You can either correct this with xentry, or you can mechanically fix it by adjusting the front suspension sensors.

    • @amarek454
      @amarek454 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ExoticCarDIY OK thanks, I didn't think about the headlights.... I'll make sure to check their height. Carbon fiber lower lip is destroyed after 2 day being lowered. Lol, but oh well , it a labor of love.😁

    Like the spoiler you added, I commented on another video where you installed the front splitter. I own the same exact car. Want to mod mine in the same process you are doing yours. Your videos are amazing and thorough. Perhaps a nicer camera to Enhance your shots where your camera has a hard time adjusting. Is the spoiler same brand as the front splitter or what brand did you go with? I was looking at eBay to make some purchases but didn’t want to be stuck with something that isn’t decent quality. Any input is greatly appreciated. I am a subscriber for sure and keep up the great vids 👍🏼

      @ExoticCarDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I haven't got to the point where I want to invest in a camera. Or have somebody else film it. Just using my cell phone for now lol.
      The front lip is suvneer. It's a well-known brand and a high quality piece. I'm very pleased with its construction.
      As for the rear spoiler I bought, I wouldn't recommend it. It's junk. I believe it's a knock off of the jc sportline ml-xm063. They're all made in Taiwan or China, and there are knockoffs of knockoffs. But I think that part number is the original and should be good quality.

    Would never use h&r again, eibach such better spring to retain factory ride quality
    H&r springs completely ruined my ride quality, around 6months in and car started to feel more apart, eibachs on my 2014 e coupe dropped around 20mm but ride quality just like stock! Much much better spring over h&r

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, eibach does not make springs for my year and model. To my knowledge, only h&r and KW.
      The roads around here are actually pretty good, and my friend has an identical car with stock springs and we both ridden in each other's cars frequently and there is only a subtle difference between the ride quality. Having said that, I still think the h&R's are way too low

      You prob got the H&R race springs. They are hard as hell. The normal lowering springs are ok.
