This song came out around the time my parents were going through a violent divorce, which ended in my father commiting sucide. I remember my mom listening to this and crying, i was to young to truly understand how beautifully deep this song was. I think its about a relationship ending, but one you can never have back.
Has the same meaning for my and my wife having made the same decision as your father... This song means a lot to me.

I appreciate your sense of humour and man this song is angsty but at the same time this was the number one thing I listened to dealing with the death of my mother when I was nine. Can't bring myself to make fun of this song, too emotional. Amazing cover audio wise though!

Ben Moody (original guitarist of Evanescence) actually wrote this song. It was partially based on a short story he was trying to write at the time, as well as being about the death of his grandfather. Amy, however, did write the bridge ("I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone, but though you're still with me, I've been alone all along").
same thing with their song hello which was if i remember correctly writen in memory of amy's younger sister who died from a uncureable sickness at the age of 4 i think amy was at the time 9 or so and was quiet close to said younger sister.

I have listened to this many times! I found it as a sound on TikTok and couldn't get it out of my head until I found out who sang it. I am very particular when it comes to what I like to hear from a singer and let me say you NAILED this! Perfect falsetto, killer full chest voice in the upper and lower registers, and even nice accents with the chest growl. Man, you have a set of pipes!
