What I love is that while Skillet is a Christian band their music is for everyone regardless of religious beliefs. It speaks to everyone, no matter if you believe in a higher power or not. They are amazing

When a friend (a fervent atheist btw) first introduced me to Skillet ages ago, he showed me this song. I spent the following 4 days listening to this constantly. Never anything else. Just this. And I fell in love ... They are simply amazing.
I have a lot of nostalgia for Skillet. I was on the soccer team in high school and the only songs we could have the vocals on for our pre-game soundtrack were from them. Nowadays I've mostly grown out of the band, and can't really get behind their more recent stuff, but now and then I'll come back to a few of their songs. My favorite is "Forsaken"!

yup they are and always have been, so is Red, and though not metal the band behind Fireflies is also Christian, ( saw them in concept it was pretty legit)

John, the lead singer, has always liked the idea of having the metal sound in the band, but Korey, his wife and backup guitarist, along with the fanbase, never really felt like metal fit. Once John and Jen (The drummer) formed their own side projects, Skillet will remain 'hard rock' where Fight the Fury (John's side project band) is pretty much flat out metal. LEDGER, Jen's solo project, is also hard rock, I believe.
