    I bought a 65 impala SS in 1982
    While stationed in Heidelberg
    Germany. White w/red interior
    Brought it home with me had
    Some restoration done drove it
    For 3 years as a regular car. I

      I had a 65 SS, evening orchid with white interior that was super clean. An all original 283 with a powerhouse trans. Paid $1200 in 1986, and sold it in 1987 for $900 not running, because of the 2 barrel carb giving me such grief! Still kicking myself in the ass for selling that car!

    Has a 65 SS with a 283 and powerglide trans. Evening orchid (that experimental Cadillac, lavender color) with super clean white interior. It only had some cancer around the rear wheel wells. For some reason the previous owner stopped the paint after the doors. The front quarters and hood all has fresh paint. Paid $1200 in 1986, then sold it a year later for $900 not running, because the 2 barrel carb gave me such grief! UGH! Why did I sell it!!??

      @@DanEBoyd You're right! Actual W production at Tonawanda soldiered on in marine and agricultural applications until early 1972, but only as a specialty or service replacement unit/parts.
      Friday Feb 12, 1965 was the end of 409 for passenger cars. Tonawanda changed over to MK-IV production that weekend and started hammering out 396s for passenger cars and Corvette the following Monday >> Feb 15, 1965.

    • @Texas_Cruiser
      @Texas_Cruiser 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrLC1965 yes my miko you are very wrong in this regard. These cars were made in different states like California and Michigan...back when it wasn't so much about money but art and putting love into the cars. The people genuinely had a passion for the cars with their design, engineering, function, etc. They are what are considered classics meaning they'll hold a special place in history forever. Unfortunately there were more restrictions going into the mid 70s combined with hard economic times and an oil crisis as well as more concentration on profits (corporate greed). This meant slower and lower quality cars, more plastic to save money, and the same passion wasn't put into them. I can see why you have the stereotype you do but there are subsets of culture with these cars....some like them the way they were original from the factory, some race them, some make them lowriders (Google this), and some put slightly larger wheels and very nice paint on them to make them show cars.
      This would be like me thinking all people who drive Lamborghinis and Ferraris are Italian men with black combed back hair that are snobby which is not the case....ha maybe in Italy right? Just kidding! But speaking of the Italian cars....us Americans LOVE them! We admire the work for Enzo Ferrari and Pininfarina. I very much look forward to going to Italy one day. It is a BEAUTIFUL country!
      Blessings!
