    I agree the black fender flares look alot better then the color matched. Great video!

    Just finished following this process on my own tacoma. Words of advice for anyone trying to do the same is be super careful you hit the top edge of the fender as it can be kinda hard to see until you fit them back on. Also make sure you are prepared to remove all of the old adhesive as it took me quite a bit of time. I definitely could have been more prepared for that step.

    Looks way better blacked out. Great job. Thanks for the video. I've saved this for when I get my Taco. Hopefully once this damn shortage ends I can get one in Jan 2023.

    That is way cheaper then buying new black ones and it looks really nice on your taco.

    New subscriber here and love your contents. Just got a 2022 Tacoma SR, and can't find a fender OEM look alike for my truck. Do you have happen to know where I can get one? Can't find the right one on Amazon.

    even tho the TRD OR and TRD Pro have black flares, because they’re plastic they fade after a while
    i recently went over the flares on my Off Road with truck bed liner and it looks a lot more aggressive than the faded plastic

    Use Plasti-Dip rubberized paint. Can always peel it off and go back to original.

  • @brad3606
    @brad3606 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Would have done plasti dip instead that way if you ever change your mind peel it off. Plus I think the finish is more consistent with plasti dip. Looks great for the most part but in a few places the finish is a little uneven. My OCD would always see that imperfection. Also with plasti dip you’d not have to go to all the trouble of removing the flares and risk damaging fender. Just my thoughts. Nice vid tho

  • @carloscabrera8591
    @carloscabrera8591 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Definitely thinking about doing this to my 23’ TRD sport 4x4. Went to my local Toyota dealer and they gave me a quote of $1000 for all 4 oem plastic flares. Safe to say I’m not going that route.

    • @TheUnrestricted
      @TheUnrestricted  ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah if worst comes to worse you can fall back on that

    • @ggsdude1
      @ggsdude1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol just plastidip it, 10bucks a can and youll just need 3 cans. I couldnt justify 1K for plastic fenders like its just dumb.

    • @GraV21
      @GraV21 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just make a listing saying you would trade someone with an off-road for the painted flares. I’m sure someone would be willing to trade you. I have 23 off road but I prefer the black plastic flares as well. I do know other people who would prefer the painted

  • @boomskis4926
    @boomskis4926 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Not trying to be a dick bro but seriously doubt that’s gonna look good for very long. Your truck your choice. You seem happy with it and that’s all that really matters.

    • @TheUnrestricted

      Thanks

    • @GraV21
      @GraV21 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I said the same thing. With a little extra effort, he could have at least sanded the clear coat with some sandpaper just enough to scuff it up. Would ensure a better adhesion than just painting over the clear coat. It’s his truck though, so to each his own. As long as he’s happy with it is all that matters

      2-3 months there will be a chip with red showing for sure. Strip the paint and rocker guard is probably more practical for 4x4 use.

      i would say to just use high quality paint! still holding up great

  • @GraV21
    @GraV21 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Painting over paint & clearcoat is a terrible idea. I would be surprised if this lasts.
    Honestly, it would have taken you maybe another 45 mins to scuff up the clear-coat on all the flares to ensure a proper adhesion. You don’t have to sand the flares down all the way, like I said, just enough to scuff up the clear coat increases the surfaces area the paint can adhere to
