I didn't know anything about Helloween before Lovebites released this cover, and i really enjoyed the original live video that i saw from Helloween. I think the ladies did it pretty close. Haruna has said in interviews her favorite metal band is Helloween! Fantastic job by her as always! This Studio Live was recorded last year and is the celebration of the 3 year anniversary of their first album Awakening From Abyss. A twice Jeeezus Chryst performance.... what more is there to say. I wasn’t familiar with either Helloween or Eagle Fly Free before Lovebites covered it, but it’s a stellar performance.... yet again. One day I’ll get bored of the excellence... who am I kidding... I’ll never tire of watching perfection. Miyako and Midori are almost symbiotic when they dual solo. But then there’s a symbiosis with every member. This band is twice the sum of its parts. Musical synchronicity. Love watching you react to the ladies... the look on you face is always priceless. Helloween are basically the "fathers of Euro-Power Metal", their "Keeper of the Seven Keys" album is a classic. They had a reunion with original singer Michael Kiske & original guitarist Kai Hansen (both left in the 90´s & purseued other projects, Hansen started his own very sucessful band "Gama Ray" which you should check out), but also kept the "new" singer Andi Deris & the new guitarplayer and perform all together. They recently recorded a new single and are working a studio album with all the members, original & new.
Only Lovebites can make Helloween look not so impressive. A band who stands for best power metal band of all time. They did this at the end of their studio Awake Again dvd blyray release because Helloween is Harunas favorite band. These girls are pure gold-love them all
The original upload of this performance hit 200k views within 2 weeks, and then got blocked. So happy to see these ladies get the exposure they deserve. It introduced a lot of Helloween fans to Lovebites, and vice versa. It was very interesting to see all the different opinions from both fanbases. It was awesome to finally see you experience it for yourself!
I didn´t realise, that helloween were so influential. guess, which band has made a cover of "I want out" in their rehearsal room. begins with "nemo" and ends with "phila". thought, that could be interesting in this context.
@@guitarzen5999 That's not fair tbh. Do you expect her to sing like Kiske (or one the other vocalists of Helloween; I'm not sure who did the vocals in the original...). Compare the physical appaerance alone, and you'll underestand that Mayu can't imitate Kiske ... so she developed her own stance on the song's vocals, which is the usual approach when you cover a song. And she nailed it, definitely. Nothing bad with it, but if you want her to sound very much like Helloweens vocalist, you'll be disappointed. That inevitably brings the question, where the error ought to be located: in Mayu's vocals, or in your expectation?

Mina on other guitar (now in Fate Gear) but i think you will enjoy the Bass and drums. It is Lovebites Miho and Haruna. Interesting to see them pre-Lovebites. Haruna even has the same star cymbols. Oh and vocals is (now Mardelas) Marina.
This cover was the first Lovebites song I heard and it made me instant fan about 5 month ago. 🐺 Eagle Fly Free has always been my favourite Helloween song and these incredible ladies covered it so awesomely it blew my mind. Especially Haruna's mini drum solo... it is more Ingo than even Uli/Dani. 🤘
Woo, watching this from the hospital! Damn Crohn's disease. Anyway, couldn't love this cover more. The original is such a fantastic song, but these five women bringing it to life in this intimate setting is a gem that I never get tired of. Sometimes it feels like Midori and Miyako share a brain with how in sync they always are. I always love it when Miho gets more of the spotlight since she's such a fun performer and solid bass guitarist. As always, Haruna is a beast. I've seen a lot of this performance, and Haruna's fun and cute personality really comes across. I couldn't love this band more than I do. "Burden of Time" is another favorite from this performance.

Great appreciation and reaction. Haruna's favorite metal band gets her and Miho some real rare Shine Time and they don't waste it. Midori/Miyako play like they are linked in one another's head. While opposites they fit together so perfectly. I will get technical, that was FLAWLESS PERFECTION but that is the only way these insanely talented women can perform.

Lovebites modernizes everything about the 80's metal. The two covers by Lovebites I know, this and Painkiller, for me are just better because it's updated and a bit heavier.
I know what you mean Jonathan, the appeal of modern day production is strong. At the same time, sometimes I feel like it just makes everything "too" perfect, a bit too standardized if you get what I mean. Luckily it's not the case with Lovebites :)
Lovebites is simply one of the best bands in the world right now hands down. If 20 new people get into the band because of me or you or other fans, I feel we have done our job .
I have checked and Markus Grosskopf taps the bass solo in live Helloween performances. I'd also like to think Ingo Schwitchenberg (RIP) is looking down and smiling at Haruna's performance on this one.

I'll probably get some flak for this opinion but I wasn't a huge fan of clockwork immortality. It had some great songs and some just good songs imo nothing bad but it seemed to me like the album they started the real growth of their music and tried some new things that were hit and miss for me but I could see they were growing and learning. I would love to see your thoughts on that album.
Asami is certainly the most unique sounding vocalist in this style. There are a lot of very talented singers out there and not going to argue with people about who is better but no one sounds like Asami. She gives Lovebites a completely original sound that is super hard to get with so much music available now. You can play 100 different power metal bands in a row and pick out Lovebites every time.
They did change a few things up to do their own thing (and amazingly so), especially on the solo sections, but overall, very faithful to the original. And I think you're right, I don't recall Markus doing the finger tapping on the bass solo, I think that is Miho's own thing. When I saw Helloween a couple years ago on the Pumpkins United tour, I don't think he tapped the solo.

Love this cover, especially the final vocal line, they go even higher than origin song. More I listen to this band more impressed by the vocal. I knew her voice way before LOVEBITES. Never thought her will be a lead vocal of a metal band. Not many vocals can fit in a band like LOVEBITES with this kind of musicianship. Great video as always by the way !
Give Helloween credit for pioneering this style and for writing the song, but Lovebites just crushed it. The biggest gap is vocals--to be honest I never liked Kiske that much. Anyway, thanks for getting to this!
I'm surprised. Kiske is a legend. I have been a fan since those "Keeper" albums first came out. Which I think was around 87-88. Kiske is back with Helloween for their new album too! It's been a long ride, and we are still going! Now.... LOVEBITES is going to carry the torch into the future! I hope our princesses are still kicking A$$ when they are all 50 years old! \m/
I think I almost saw Haruna, if only for a split second, play as if it was a difficult bit 😀 The added strings, which were not in the original version, for me are not necessary and i would prefer this version without them.
Helloween was not an influence on the entire band but did this cover as a favor for Haruna who is really the only one who is a fan of Helloween. IMO Helloween was not a very good band out of Germany to me there was only The Scorpions, Accept and Michael Schenker that was phenomenal I tried to get into Helloween I just couldn't they were part of the glam rock that ruined rock for me, cheap imitation of Anthrax and Slayer

Nemophila did a decent job with the music but the vocals were not very good. She's not suited for those type of vocals.

There are a lot of very talented singers out there and not going to argue with people about who is better but no one sounds like Asami. She gives Lovebites a completely original sound that is super hard to get with so much music available now. You can play 100 different power metal bands in a row and pick out Lovebites every time.
They did change a few things up to do their own thing (and amazingly so), especially on the solo sections, but overall, very faithful to the original. And I think you're right, I don't recall Markus doing the finger tapping on the bass solo, I think that is Miho's own thing. When I saw Helloween a couple years ago on the Pumpkins United tour, I don't think he tapped the solo.
I'll definitely go check that out Gary, very curious to see how he plays it now

More I listen to this band more impressed by the vocal. I knew her voice way before LOVEBITES.
Never thought her will be a lead vocal of a metal band.

Give Helloween credit for pioneering this style and for writing the song, but Lovebites just crushed it. The biggest gap is vocals--to be honest I never liked Kiske that much. Anyway, thanks for getting to this!
I'm surprised. Kiske is a legend. I have been a fan since those "Keeper" albums first came out. Which I think was around 87-88. Kiske is back with Helloween for their new album too! It's been a long ride, and we are still going! Now.... LOVEBITES is going to carry the torch into the future! I hope our princesses are still kicking A$$ when they are all 50 years old! \m/

I think I almost saw Haruna, if only for a split second, play as if it was a difficult bit 😀 The added strings, which were not in the original version, for me are not necessary and i would prefer this version without them.
It does add a bit of a stronger Lovebites feel to it. Not necessary for sure, but I didn't mind them :)

Helloween was not an influence on the entire band but did this cover as a favor for Haruna who is really the only one who is a fan of Helloween. IMO Helloween was not a very good band out of Germany to me there was only The Scorpions, Accept and Michael Schenker that was phenomenal I tried to get into Helloween I just couldn't they were part of the glam rock that ruined rock for me, cheap imitation of Anthrax and Slayer
