Reliving The War returns this week with another look at WWF Raw is War and WCW Monday Nitro. WCW are currently getting ready for their Spring Stampede pay per view that airs later in the week while the WWF put an end to the 83 week WCW winning streak with their episode of Raw on USA Network.
On Nitro Kevin Nash thinks he would've won the World Heavyweight Championship last week if Hollywood Hogan didn't interfere in his title match, so Sting grants Nash another shot at the gold on Nitro and he also wants the powerbomb reinstated for the main event. We also see Booker T vs LA Parka and Buff Bagwell vs Lex Luger.
On Raw Steve Austin says he could beat Vince McMahon with one arm tied behind his back, and Mr. McMahon takes Austin up on that challenge. In a historic Raw main event WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin faces Vince McMahon and this very match would make millions of viewers change the channel and watch Raw instead of Nitro.

I was a wwf guy....i know there was wcw but wwf seemed to be more story telling then wcw bouncing around from story to just charasmatic none story telling wrestling.

The reveal that McMahon was jacked is an underrated surprise in the Attitude Era. I remember thinking 'WTF?' because I assumed Vince was just an old guy in a suit.

I love the Steve Mufuggin Blackman arc! Not only did I love Blackman as a kid, I also have severe pulmonary issues when exposed to country music.

It'll be like the "war" ended all over again. This will be like the 2nd time I had to endure great wrestling come to an end.
It sucks because the great story lines really did come to an end shortly after the Monday night wars.
I hope he continues the series with Raw vs Smackdown after the brand split & show how the shows fluctuated in terms of quality over the years.

Never knew the ratings switch happened so quickly after Austin became champ, he truly was on another level.

Bc of that I’d never seen this full Raw before only clips from historic moments. Fun to have you back!

That 2 week break felt like an eternity. I knew that this episode would be about the week that WWF beat WCW in the ratings after 83 weeks. I would have loved to been a fly in the room when Eric Bischoff saw that Raw beat Nitro that week.
Yes, most of Raw was not good and WCW put on a better show, but on April 13th, 1998, I was very interested in the potential Steve Austin vs Vince McMahon match that ended being a bait and switch, but it was the right move to save that match for later.

I have to admit i was getting reliving the war cold sweats for those two weeks it wasn't on lol. I know content was still made available but this is the best series on classic pro wrestling history on youtube.

You’re right during this time Goldberg was insanely over. I remember between the music and just his size and aggression had my dad who isn’t a wrestling fan at all but would take me to matches on his feet amazed. That’s a true pop to me it’s one thing to get over with wrestling fans but when you can crossover with casuals or not wrestling fans at all that says a lot.
