    Here are all the changes since the release of this guide:
    7.1 Patch Notes:
    Nothing for Vipers!
    7.05 Patch Notes:
    MAJOR CHANGES. Dread Fangs and Dread Maw have been renamed to Reaving Fangs and Reaving Maw and the Noxious Gnash debuff has been REMOVED. Instead, the Steel Fangs and Maw starters give a buff similar to the finisher buffs, that make your next Reaving starter stronger. Reaving starters similarly boost the Steel starters. These kinds of buffs, for both starters and finishers also last 60 seconds instead of 40. Dreadwinder and Pit of Dread have also been renamed to Vicewinder and Vicepit to similarly reflect the removal of Noxious Gnash as a mechanic. MOST of the Viper Toolkit has received significant potency buffs to compensate for this.
    "WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MY ROTATION?":
    You now alternate Reaving Fangs and Steel Fangs as your combo starter. You no longer need to worry about Noxious Gnash before using Vicewinder and can simply go for it whenever. I still recommend starting a fight with getting the speed buff up as soon as possible before going into the glaive combos.
    7.01 Patch Notes:
    Serpent's Tail and Twinfang/Twinblood related single target melee range oGCDs had their range increased from 3 to 5 yalms. This makes it slightly easier to fit these oGCDs as you step away from the target.
    This means Death Rattle, Twinfang Bite, Twinblood Bite, First Generation, Second Generation, Third Generation, and Fourth Generation.
    That is all!

    Hey, Caetsu! Just wanted to say thanks for posting all these guides and mythbusters!
    I’ve been binging your videos because you explain things so well and there’s so much information in this game!
    It can be overwhelming sometimes, so genuinely, thank you! ❤

    helpful guide on the opener adjustments for 90 I didnt do. I was expecting skill speed to be a higher priority than 4th but crit I easily understand.

      Given how little is dependent on cooldowns, it makes sense for speed to be more important, but ultimately I believe it boils down to "do I get more reawakens as a result?" and that's a really difficult to determine generally, and often simply doing more damage with the many reawakens you get in a fight anyway tends to be more effective! 😅

    Tip - If the names or steps confuse you, just literally follow the dotted lines in the combos and the game pretty much tells you exactly what to use.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh

      Indeed, the names of most of the actions don't really matter once the fight is underway! 😊

    I would equate Reawakening more to Reaper’s Enshroud. It’s got the same concept of 4 fast GCDs with 1 more weave in Viper’s case, and a big finisher that ends the burst state no matter when it’s used

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is indeed very similar! The bigger difference between the two is that viper lacks the raid buff to coordinate with themselves, where reaper has arcane circle! 😊

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's insanely flashy!
      I've also heard some say it looks almost goofy if you hide the effects so it's just your character almost teleporting! 😂

      It has also some downsides, we have a VPR in my static that says it kind be _incredible_ hard to play "Pixel perfect" positions in Reawaken because its hard to see where your character stands.. in M3S he must Trust the callouts for the lunt mechanic _blind_ because his char moves so extrem fast :D

    Nice to see your recommended opener is close to what I worked out for myself.
    I am someone who doesn't like Death's Design on RPR, and was expecting to have the same kind of dislike for Noxious Gnash. As it happens, I rather like it, and use it to plan out when I should use Dreadwinder. I don't know why but Dreadwinder just makes the presence of the debuff feel "right".
    In general I don't like to play melee DPS, but I always level every job to max and chose VPR as my first melee this expansion. I'm glad I did, because it's actually pretty fun! I started working on NIN yesterday because they share gear, and haven't worked out how to make it flow the way VPR does. Trying to use the opener and rotation I learned for Endwalker but it doesn't feel good.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Same actually!
      Most of the time I would always prefer a mage as my primary dps job, but this time around viper is my favorite dps! 😄
      I very much agree that noxious gnash, combined with dreadwinder really ties it together! 😁

      @CaetsuChaijiCh Hit lvl 90 recently and between being undergeared (I was still on map 4 of Endwalker! Not near any endgame gear for EW, oops) and completely missing I had a whole new blue button to press cause it was on a different hotbar (I play on controller), that last job duty was something else LOL. I'm still figuring out how to work it, so its a WIP lol. Its totally fine if you cant, your guides just really help a ton

      What I can offer as it stands right now is that I do explain how the various changes affect your rotation in my pinned comment! But that is obviously not even close to as helpful as an actually up to date and accurate video guide! 😰😅
      Also I do hope you enjoy the continued journey with the job! 😊

    Something I wish SE could do is controller hotbar suggestions.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    @Enl1gtend 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Obligatory comment hoping the upcoming job changes don't effect Viper heavily
    The 1 change I'd like to see is Dreadwinder and Pit of Dread not restricting you to the single target or AoE follow-ups respectively, and maybe making it so that the AoE buffs and single target combo ender buffs can convert into each other so that swapping feels less restrictive, other than that I really don't want them to change anything

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That actually sounds like a super nice change!😊
      I could imagine that maybe the second step between hunters and swiftskins coil will be free from positional (so that you don't have two alternating positionals in succession). Not that it is needed at all, but simply something I could imagine they would do, similar to how dragoon got changed 🤔😅

    • @Scerttle
      @Scerttle 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah I was actually really surprised that you can't swap between AOE and single target considering Picto can without issue

  • @iPlayOnSpica
    @iPlayOnSpica 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think VPR's filler gcds should've been on 3 buttons, not 2, and setup in a way where the button changes turn into the same positionals. I hate that the same buttons turn into different positionals, I don't mind the busy-ness. Even for positional-heavy jobs pre-dt, I can map positionals as I see fit, namely flank on top hotbar row and rear on second row. VPR being both flank and rear on just the top row is not fun to work with.
    That aside, the job feels braindead, and I can take it into blind prog no problem, which indicates its low skill ceiling, given just how little time I've spent with it compared to other jobs.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Indeed the job is on the easier side, but I do think you can easily lose track if you get too focused on dealing with a boss mechanic for too long or some such 😂 but I'm glad to hear you're finding it very effective! Hopefully you're also enjoying it despite all this!

    • @iPlayOnSpica
      @iPlayOnSpica 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CaetsuChaijiCh I would say its only two fun parts are Reawaken and Uncoiled Fury so they're the reason I play VPR at all, but that was to be expected since the job action trailer. Level sync below 90, and the job becomes "some two-sworded class". Same issue as RPR with lvl 80 and below, except worse. So glad PCT gets its first canvas at lvl 30 and all three by lvl 70. DNC gets the first dance at lvl 15 and also shows solid progression.
