Fact: in the manhwa sung jin actually used the venom kasaka bottle when he was drinking beer just so he would test if the healing system works on it But in the anime they changed it he uses it mid fight ngl its a nice touch
The manwha is what they are basing the artstyle off of but the novel will be the basis for most of the story which I think is a nice touch. The novel elaborated more a lot of areas the manwha couldn't flesh out.

23:12 for people who are a bit confused, Cerberus is an A-Rank enemy, that's why his loot are A-Rank as well. It just so happens that it was an A-Rank monster in an S-Rank dungeon being the first enemy you have to fight
To clear up something about the dungeons and monsters ranks because I feel like people will keep getting confused with those: When a gate is classified as a certain rank, it doesnt mean that all the monsters in it are of this rank (so just because a gate is C rank not all monsters in it are C rank monsters). A gate is classified based on the *total amount of magic energy the monsters in it emenate* (its been mentioned in the first couple of episodes). For example a really big amount of E rank monsters + a D rank boss could make a gate C rank. And a small amount of D rank monsters + a C rank boss could also make a gate C rank. The ants in the C rank dungeon obviously were not C rank monsters (they were probably low D or E rank). But their huge numbers + the fact the the dungeon boss was a pretty strong C rank one, made the gate C rank. I hope this helps
Close but not exactly correct. Since you read the manhwa and novel I'm gonna discuss why below. Spoilers Literally stated in the novel and manhwa that the regular monster in A rank dungeons are around B to A rank. The high orcs in the dungeon tusk was in which was A rank were high A rank creatures that even the A rank hunters in the hunters guild couldn't fight off and had to rely on jin woo to take them down. Tusk was S rank even after being weakened after jin woo resurrected him at elite knight rank which is S rank in power according to jin woo and that was a weakened tusk. Before he was killed he was around mid to high S rank and was so strong that the novel confirmed that Cha and the hunters guild master wouldn't have been able to beat him without a party. The giants in the S rank dungeon in Japan were also around S rank eventhough they weren't the boss. They were so strong that a couple of japanese S ranks had to jump each one by one to beat one at time because they couldn't 1v1 any of the giants. They were also so strong that liu zhigang acknowledged the strength of those giants and said he actually had trouble fighting only one that escaped into the sea and he is a national ranked hunter. The dungeon ratings are based on the average strength of the monsters inside. Not the total magical power but the average magical power of the monsters within. There's several translation errors from fan translations. The magic meter used to measure dungeons magic power calculates the average magic power, not total. If the total for an S rank dungeon only was on the level of S rank hunters an S rank would be able to clear it alone which is clearly not the case because it measures the average, not total. They were strong enough to easily kill B ranks in the first jeju island raid. the A rank monster Cha have in single handedly beat in episode 6 wasn't an A rank dungeon boss. It was only an A rank monster inside an A rank dungeon, not the boss.
Here's some Solo Leveling trivia... => South Korea had 9 active S-Rank hunters in the past but now they only have 5... One was KIA, Hwang Dong-Soo left Korea and joined an American guild, The S-Rank healer Min Byeong-Gu retired after the Jeju Island raid and Go Gun-Hee (who's also an S-Rank) retired because of old age.
This was what they did in the novel, they are using the novel for the majority of the story telling so a lot will be fleshed out going forward. I can't wait, I did read the novel and it had a lot of areas that were missing in the manwha fleshed out. :)
I think so too, but i hoped that the Cerberus didn't die just from stabbing the eyes, it would have been better if they added sung Jin woo breaking it's neck like he did in the manhwa.

He slit the neck of the head on the right. He stabbed the one on the left in the top of the head. The one in the middle bite him and you could see the outside heads hanging because they're already dead. I saw a lot of people miss that and they were asking how he killed it by killing one head. After Sung Jinwoo falls out of it's mouth you can see the throat is cut on the head on the right
OK, let's do a recap bro. Cerberus is not an S-Rank monster, he's simply the Gatekeeper of an S-Rank Dungeon. At most he's an A-Rank Beast. Jinwoo entered this fight with a 40% boost against beast type monsters, which means against Cerberus he was the equivalent of a High B-Rank Hunter. He also had the advantage of his dagger, which helped him out a lot. Additionally, that 50% damage reduction after hitting below 30% of his healthbar and the Kasaka Venom gland additional 20% (which is permanent, BTW), at the end of the fight he receiving 70% less damage, which is what allowed him to survive long enough to take out Cerberus. He put in the work, but he was also VERY lucky. He had no business being there just yet.
Even tho I knew what was gonna happen I was on edge they didn't need to go this hard. in the manhwa sjw beat the dog easy after full recovery but in anime he used his brains and trying to find every possible way of getting a upper hand. damn gave me chills

Also good on you catching both the bits of the unaffiliateds S rank hunter that's retired and the bit about the fact that the "Jeju Island" raid (that had all those S rank hunters) failed.
Great reaction and discussion! So the cerberus wasn't actually S rank but the gatekeeper to the s rank Tower, so it was actually around A rank. The voice actor for the guys brother btw is sukuna
the craziest part is that ceberus was actually only A rank, and he was the gate keeper for the dungeon, not a boss, not a common enemy, just a gatekeeper at the entrance, that is to show how far a B rank is from a A rank
No he was a b rank. Remember that he fights the other Hunter that’s a b rank and struggles against him soon. Also, remember that Igris was an a rank when they fought, and Jin Woo was far stronger then. The red gate was an a rank as well.
@@christopherwilde6673 The "struggle" (which was incredibly minor. Nothing that should actually be called a struggle) was completely Manhwa and Anime only. In the novel, Jin Woo destroyed him. The only wound Jin Woo go was a small cut on the cheek. Even stealth didn't really do anything, Jin Woo instantly blocked it. The novel even literally states that Jin Woo was "unimpressed" and that he used Kang Taeshik as an experiment to test the emergency quest. They were "evenly matched" for a bit, but that's it.
Another fantastic addition in the Light Novel to Kasaka's venom. In the LN, Jinwoo only invests all his ability points into strength for a long while. He does this because he felt he was so weak. All his other stats went up because every time he gains a level, he gets 1 point for every stat. So in the LN, he constantly thinks about using the venom, but he's afraid of the strength debuff making him weak again and he had been putting everything into his strength. Making the realization later on about the alcohol debuff, that much more effective as a reader.
Everybody is talking about Sukuna's va being in this but I don't know how many noticed that Ryuuen from COTE is voicing JinChul. And since season 3 of cote is airing at the same along with solo leveling, that means he's voicing both characters at the same time.
The acquisition difficulty of the key (in other words, obtaining the key) was stated to be S rank, not the dungeon. However, Jinwoo in this episode questioned if that acquisition difficulty also matched the difficulty of the dungeon. The story wouldn't add that in if it wasn't the case. Jinwoo defeated a crank boss and a hunter party with a c rank with ease afterwards. He is definitely within the B rank range. Cerberus giving him a rough fight means that it's a very powerful B rank boss or possibly a low A rank. That was just the guard dog, the castle is where the real dungeon seems to be...
A clarification for the episode, Cerberus was not a S-rank, he was actually B-rank monster. Just the key was S-rank bcs its a rare item and its hard to obtain.
Hey there's also another anime adapted from a manhwa, it's call The God of High School. I don't know if you have seen it but it was one of the first manhwa made into an anime along with Noblesse. And it was also amazing!
Cerberus was likely a low A rank or high B rank, in actuality. Jin Woo had leveled up a few times since beating the C rank boss and gotten some rewards, so for sure he was about low-mid B rank entering this dungeon, but not much higher than that. The only reason he managed to finally beat it at the end by the skin of his teeth, was because of all of his buffs (-40% stats for Cerberus, debuff of the dagger, buff of Kasaka), recovery and letting Cerberus tire himself out before engaging again. But yes, Cerberus was more than likely only a high B or loe A rank. There are certain things in the future of the series that confirm it, avoiding spoilers of course
Pretty sure from memories Cerberus is an A rank. Item rarity doesn't necessary scale with monster power. He got a C rank dagger and A rank venom poison thingy from a D rank boss. The item rarity is just how rare it is to acquire said item.

@@UltraBlue164 That's completely false. Jin Woo was neither buffed, nor did he struggle. The anime and Manhwa misrepresent the fight in the novel. Jin Woo destroyed Taeshik. The only "wound" he got was a scratch on the cheek. He didn't even need to use full recovery like in the anime and manhwa. They were evenly matched for a bit, but for the most part Jin Woo was unimpressed and used him as an experiment to test the emergency quest. Taeshik wasn't even really a threat.
Thats the reward he got in the Double Dungeon at the end of the second episode. He just never looked at it because alot of things happened and I'm sure he didnt know how to navigate his skills.
First : in the manhwa he took the "cursed" loot box Second : in the manhwa the venom gland was not liquid is was a powered type substance and he ate it after he ate the chicken (in the manhwa)
I agree that the anime was more intensely and dramatically presented than in the manhua. Although the scene missing from the anime which I love from the manhua was Jinwoo twisting the other head of the Cerberus and then after a few stabs and slashes here and there it was defeated. I had to view the panels a few more times to appreciate how strong he was as the fight went on. But that is the problem, the overall fighting sequence of the manhua pales in comparison to what the anime presented during this episode. Firstly, I appreciated the way the Kasaka venom potion was utilized. It was used in the battle and it made more sense since as a gamer, if you had that one potion only, it is wise to keep it in the inventory and use it during a critical time in a battle. Not drink it in the comfort of your own home. It just gives more desperation to his situation during the fight against the Cerberus, which is not even S-class. Second, the way the Elixir of Life was also introduced early in the show not later as shown in the manhua, which in retrospect, for a game designer's view, is also good because it gives added incentive to the Player to level up more to tackle the myriad floors of the Castle to obtain all the ingredients of elixir as drops from higher ranked momsters inside. It also ties in to his internal thoughts, that he can have something of great value inside the dungeon not just levelling up (that can cure his mom's disease which is what he "wants"(note the description of the Blessed Box, give the Player what he WANTS and so it gave him the key to the S class dungeon where the elixir of life pattern and its ingredients can be found). And lastly, Jinwoo's battle with the Cerberus in the anime although lacking some of the awesome feats of strength shown in the manhua(him twisting the neck of one of the heads), instead showed it in a more dramatic way. He struggled a lot, was battered and lost an arm and regained it after using Full Recovery(btw love the glowing effect of the lost arm regenerating minus the jacket sleeve which was bitten off along with the arm, as he dodges and moves about) and almost died a few times(he got a cheat code, I call it the System assist lol) but his wits and will to live and succeed carried him through. I saw he was just kiting the monster hoping he can make it at the end of 3 minutes when the monster's buff(Rage - all abilities of Cerberus at 100%) will end. Also I noted that during the last scene where his body was partially inside the mouth of the remaining head of the Cerberus, the two other heads, the left and right were already dead, hanging limply, (that was after his last combo attack before he was bitten again by the middle head). Right after that his last push was to stab its eye repeatedly and during this time the Cerberus' buff, Rage has ended and I am curious when a lot of blood suddenly spewed out of its eye continuously, did Jinwoo's weapon debuff drain stack to cause that much damage in a short time? I wonder but all in all it was a great episode as presented in the anime format.
Cereberus is high B rank or Low A rank, He's in an S-rank Dungeon, but that doesn't mean he's an S-rank, think of it as a tutorial to get into the real Dungeon (the castle) this is very clear because of the next Arc however I can't say why, spoilers and such.
For the scene with the guardian of hell, basically, he used the effect of the detoxification system of harmful elements to his body, like alcohol, drugs, poisons… to be able to use the resistance of the snake Kasaka that he had defeated, while obtaining a resistance by receiving - 50% of damage without the poison that would have weakened him at the beginning. But now, he can fight without side effects from the venom. Thanks to this, he managed to resist the bites of the guardian of hell without losing HP benefits, despite his low level in an S-rank dungeon.
Chairman Go was one of the blessed ruller who have job is to kill any monarch was go in the earth, the ruller power was more than S Ranked hunter. He barely scraped past that enemy so he’s definitely not S rank yet. We saw the blonde girl kill an A rank enemy with ease and she is an S rank. Also yes that is Sukuna’s VA which is a really good choice for that character imo. If you couldn’t he’s very powerful lol
Cerebus is protecting the demon castle which is the S-Rank in question. He's a A-Rank which shows Jinwoo is currently low A-Rank or high B-Rank since Cerebus name was red.
The Cerberus was not stated to be S rank since the Dungeon with the Domen Castle is S rank and the Cerberus was only the Gatekeeper of it. Just in case some people thought Sun jin woo was already S rank. hes not there yet

the craziest part is that ceberus was actually only A rank, and he was the gate keeper for the dungeon, not a boss, not a common enemy, just a gatekeeper at the entrance, that is to show how far a B rank is from a A rank
No he was a b rank. Remember that he fights the other Hunter that’s a b rank and struggles against him soon. Also, remember that Igris was an a rank when they fought, and Jin Woo was far stronger then. The red gate was an a rank as well.
@@christopherwilde6673 The "struggle" (which was incredibly minor. Nothing that should actually be called a struggle) was completely Manhwa and Anime only. In the novel, Jin Woo destroyed him. The only wound Jin Woo go was a small cut on the cheek. Even stealth didn't really do anything, Jin Woo instantly blocked it. The novel even literally states that Jin Woo was "unimpressed" and that he used Kang Taeshik as an experiment to test the emergency quest. They were "evenly matched" for a bit, but that's it.

Another fantastic addition in the Light Novel to Kasaka's venom. In the LN, Jinwoo only invests all his ability points into strength for a long while. He does this because he felt he was so weak. All his other stats went up because every time he gains a level, he gets 1 point for every stat. So in the LN, he constantly thinks about using the venom, but he's afraid of the strength debuff making him weak again and he had been putting everything into his strength. Making the realization later on about the alcohol debuff, that much more effective as a reader.

The acquisition difficulty of the key (in other words, obtaining the key) was stated to be S rank, not the dungeon. However, Jinwoo in this episode questioned if that acquisition difficulty also matched the difficulty of the dungeon. The story wouldn't add that in if it wasn't the case. Jinwoo defeated a crank boss and a hunter party with a c rank with ease afterwards. He is definitely within the B rank range. Cerberus giving him a rough fight means that it's a very powerful B rank boss or possibly a low A rank. That was just the guard dog, the castle is where the real dungeon seems to be...

A clarification for the episode, Cerberus was not a S-rank, he was actually B-rank monster. Just the key was S-rank bcs its a rare item and its hard to obtain.

Cerberus was likely a low A rank or high B rank, in actuality. Jin Woo had leveled up a few times since beating the C rank boss and gotten some rewards, so for sure he was about low-mid B rank entering this dungeon, but not much higher than that.
The only reason he managed to finally beat it at the end by the skin of his teeth, was because of all of his buffs (-40% stats for Cerberus, debuff of the dagger, buff of Kasaka), recovery and letting Cerberus tire himself out before engaging again.
But yes, Cerberus was more than likely only a high B or loe A rank. There are certain things in the future of the series that confirm it, avoiding spoilers of course

Pretty sure from memories Cerberus is an A rank. Item rarity doesn't necessary scale with monster power. He got a C rank dagger and A rank venom poison thingy from a D rank boss. The item rarity is just how rare it is to acquire said item.
More likely he’s a B rank. Next arc SJW goes to extreme diff against a high B rank hunter while getting buffed

@@UltraBlue164 That's completely false. Jin Woo was neither buffed, nor did he struggle. The anime and Manhwa misrepresent the fight in the novel. Jin Woo destroyed Taeshik. The only "wound" he got was a scratch on the cheek. He didn't even need to use full recovery like in the anime and manhwa. They were evenly matched for a bit, but for the most part Jin Woo was unimpressed and used him as an experiment to test the emergency quest. Taeshik wasn't even really a threat.
Thats the reward he got in the Double Dungeon at the end of the second episode. He just never looked at it because alot of things happened and I'm sure he didnt know how to navigate his skills.

I agree that the anime was more intensely and dramatically presented than in the manhua. Although the scene missing from the anime which I love from the manhua was Jinwoo twisting the other head of the Cerberus and then after a few stabs and slashes here and there it was defeated. I had to view the panels a few more times to appreciate how strong he was as the fight went on. But that is the problem, the overall fighting sequence of the manhua pales in comparison to what the anime presented during this episode. Firstly, I appreciated the way the Kasaka venom potion was utilized. It was used in the battle and it made more sense since as a gamer, if you had that one potion only, it is wise to keep it in the inventory and use it during a critical time in a battle. Not drink it in the comfort of your own home. It just gives more desperation to his situation during the fight against the Cerberus, which is not even S-class. Second, the way the Elixir of Life was also introduced early in the show not later as shown in the manhua, which in retrospect, for a game designer's view, is also good because it gives added incentive to the Player to level up more to tackle the myriad floors of the Castle to obtain all the ingredients of elixir as drops from higher ranked momsters inside. It also ties in to his internal thoughts, that he can have something of great value inside the dungeon not just levelling up (that can cure his mom's disease which is what he "wants"(note the description of the Blessed Box, give the Player what he WANTS and so it gave him the key to the S class dungeon where the elixir of life pattern and its ingredients can be found). And lastly, Jinwoo's battle with the Cerberus in the anime although lacking some of the awesome feats of strength shown in the manhua(him twisting the neck of one of the heads), instead showed it in a more dramatic way. He struggled a lot, was battered and lost an arm and regained it after using Full Recovery(btw love the glowing effect of the lost arm regenerating minus the jacket sleeve which was bitten off along with the arm, as he dodges and moves about) and almost died a few times(he got a cheat code, I call it the System assist lol) but his wits and will to live and succeed carried him through. I saw he was just kiting the monster hoping he can make it at the end of 3 minutes when the monster's buff(Rage - all abilities of Cerberus at 100%) will end. Also I noted that during the last scene where his body was partially inside the mouth of the remaining head of the Cerberus, the two other heads, the left and right were already dead, hanging limply, (that was after his last combo attack before he was bitten again by the middle head). Right after that his last push was to stab its eye repeatedly and during this time the Cerberus' buff, Rage has ended and I am curious when a lot of blood suddenly spewed out of its eye continuously, did Jinwoo's weapon debuff drain stack to cause that much damage in a short time? I wonder but all in all it was a great episode as presented in the anime format.
Cereberus is high B rank or Low A rank, He's in an S-rank Dungeon, but that doesn't mean he's an S-rank, think of it as a tutorial to get into the real Dungeon (the castle) this is very clear because of the next Arc however I can't say why, spoilers and such.

For the scene with the guardian of hell, basically, he used the effect of the detoxification system of harmful elements to his body, like alcohol, drugs, poisons… to be able to use the resistance of the snake Kasaka that he had defeated, while obtaining a resistance by receiving - 50% of damage without the poison that would have weakened him at the beginning. But now, he can fight without side effects from the venom. Thanks to this, he managed to resist the bites of the guardian of hell without losing HP benefits, despite his low level in an S-rank dungeon.

So if a gate is S rank or any rank for that matter it doesn’t mean all of the enemy’s in it are that rank. So Cerberus is probably around A or B rank. He barely scraped past that enemy so he’s definitely not S rank yet. We saw the blonde girl kill an A rank enemy with ease and she is an S rank. Also yes that is Sukuna’s VA which is a really good choice for that character imo. If you couldn’t he’s very powerful lol
Cerebus is protecting the demon castle which is the S-Rank in question. He's a A-Rank which shows Jinwoo is currently low A-Rank or high B-Rank since Cerebus name was red.
