    Thanks for sharing this message Dan. It’s important we all know what we are getting into with the guarantee. Up till recently I didn’t even realize it applied to autos! And the fact that they can possess your card and hold it hostage like this feels very very wrong.

    I will never understand why anyone uses PSA... 1. Lazy/inconsistent grading 2. Oppressive wait times 3. Exorbitant pricing and unfair up-charges 4. Impossible to communicate/awful customer service 5. Ugly slabs with blurry wrinkled baggies that obscure the beauty of the card itself 6. Cards that sit diagonally within their cheap holders, creating an eye-sore 7. Corrupt company who continues to accept submissions from known card doctors 8. Failure to live up to their so-called "guarantee" by denying obvious alterations. Wake up, Sheeple!

    This is shameful on PSA/DNA's part. An autograph was good in February, bogus in June and maybe it will be good in December. I had one $400 signed card submitted to PSA/DNA through a group breaker. It cost me $32. The card got lost. They valued the signature at $48 (I paid $32 to have ut graded!) and they eventually upped it to $58 as a fair replacement price. The group submitter felt bad and all in all, I got $200 back, but overall, this experience was shameful and shows how little PSA really cares about their customers.

    If PSA's upcharge is "insurance," why charge it for something they don't fully guarantee? They only authenticate the autograph, not the whole card, and the autograph isn't even covered. When would this insurance ever apply to the card? If it's shipping insurance, why charge the same upcharges at on-site grading events?
    People need to realize that PSA's market dominance is a huge problem and it's only going to get worse.

    • @DanTheCardMan2
      @DanTheCardMan2  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m assuming if they damaged it? But even then I’m sure they’d be using comps to check the value anyway, so you’re right, it seems pointless and they’ll always cherry pick a lower value.

    • @brynorth3586

      @@DanTheCardMan2 since psa isn't forthcoming with the reason for the upcharge it's impossible to argue against but if that were true and they were transparent about it then I think that would be a tough pill to swallow for their customers.
      It's like saying a place that does oil changes will charge more for a 2024 Land Rover than they would for a 2010 Land Rover even if the service provided is identical because justify the extra cost because they need to cover themselves in the event of their own negligence to the newer, more expensive vehicle.
      It's absolutely wild that they are not clear on the justification for the upcharge and people continue to pay them simply because of the momentum they've been able gain rather than the actual service they provide.

    So, if I'm understanding this, you can send a card to PSA, just to see if they believe an autograph is authentic, but you're spending money for something that won't be guaranteed, and if they come back, say it's authentic, and then go and grade the card, they can then not stand by their own authentication? Wow, did not know that! I'm glad you did this show, because it's probably the last thing I would think of when buying a PSA card. I think everyone gets down on SGC because they don't make you pay for autograph grades, but I'll never pay for another PSA autograph card, after finding out they can't guarantee it, and may come back later and say it isn't authentic. I'm looking at grading in a whole new light now. This is nuts! Great video again Dan!

    • @DanTheCardMan2
      @DanTheCardMan2  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Correct. Any grading company at any time can reassess their initial assessment. Which is totally fine, it’s in their best interests to do that and in this case, they’ve realised the autograph was a fake and they messed up their initial assessment. It’s just unfortunate that collectors aren’t aware that autos aren’t actually covered by them, which is insane when you think about it. People use these companies for a specific reason, except, that reason isn’t always covered under their guarantee, Wild.

But with a graded card, at least I know its better then a raw card. And I only buy rookie graded cards for my collection of 69-70 Tops to 90-91 Fleer/NBA Hoops & Skybox. The money is immaterial, its how good the card looks as a PSA 5 or BVG 4. Kinda difficult to explain but graded cards are bad but only if you're in it for the money.

    That guy needs to sue. One thing that never made sense with PSA is there grading fees. They upcharge you if the card is valued high but then you also have to pay shipping based on amount you insure. Are they self insured or insured thru the mail provider. I heard them talking about paying out claims one time and they were talking about writing checks for claims. If they will not stand behind this you can't trust them to stand behind anything. Remember that next time you want to buy one of their slabs. Same thing with that Beckett Jordan, Beckett didn't write a check to the buyer after determining the card they graded was not a real PMG. They stuck eBay with it to deal with.

    It's because PSA (and this applies to any grading company really) is admitting that card grading is a subjective form of authentication effectively.
    Because it's done by human hand/eye & that creates a large grey area when it comes to the score assigned to a card, one mans PSA 9 is anothers PSA 10
    PSA need to implement computer/machine/AI based grading, like where they can put the same card through 100x and it will get the same score every time, have a human do some final inspections or something but in this day and age there's no reason they should still be grading using such a subjective method.

I’d bet anything that real actual on card autos don’t exist to complete most of these sets. Check the registry find a common of somone who has passed and never signed and forge it. Psa sees a $10 card and it’s graded by a no one. You spend $7500 for it and send it in now professional eyes are taking a look. How many of these auto complete sets would pass authentication today? Practically none. Enjoy your registry addition gentleman.

    I wanna share my experience of grading Jade for my family recently. The cert of authenticity only valids AT the time it was graded and the authenticity is subjected to new technology. (So more or less like performance enhancing drugs in sports. You have not been tested you had used do not means you had not used.)So you see, there is a war between the grading company and those making fake items.
    I mean, I will not say PSA is completely wrong on all those guarantees. What I am disappointed is I doubt, with all the profit they have, they have never tried to make things better. It is not only about what we say about the consistency of grading. I am not asking them JUST to use AI. What I mean is has PSA does something with their profit to make our experience better?
    Like they are not covering this card you mention. If ok, we know they have a system of all autograph they graded, they use AI to compare the autographs (or anything fancy we can think of) they have an expert of penmanship and so on. So our faith of their comment is base upon the system they tell us not just "it is graded by PSA."
    So like this auto, it was graded with this very contemporary system. And Ok, the system recently have a new update in response to a flaw they encounter because they discover some shady people has upgraded their tech in making fake auto. And then they received this card and they realize it was exactly made by this new tech and they say sorry, I have to make it a fake.
    Then to me, it is ok. (I know how painful it is if I bought a 7500 cards and it was ended up a fake) But to me, if I know PSA has been doing things right. (Using the best possible tech to prove something is legit) I cannot really blame them because people out smart them. (I mean for this thought example, the reason why the card was later declare fake is because they realize the problem and correct that)
    So to sum up, I feel, it is really not OK for PSA, with all these resources, they are still doing things like 1990. If they are doing things like this, they should cover more on guarantee because they are not very good at what they are doing at the very begining.

    After watching the above video and your coverage of the fake PMG and the PMG Saga’s channel is it possible that if I list the above card on eBay based on it’s incorrect label and a uninformed buyer buys my card and it then passes eBay authentication because they only authenticate the slab which is 100% real just inaccurate, I could scam the system as long as I have a no return policy on my eBay page?
    WOW! Giid to know…Good thing I am not an unscrupulous member of the community like so many others.
    Do better shady part of our community, PSA and eBay!

      I’d assume yes which highlights how ridiculous eBay policy is.
