99% of people do that, lost track the number of people who I've walked into because their phone rings and they just stop dead to answer it...... it's called a 'mobile' for a reason.
I would've gone with telling the boss everything in one breath. What good would calling law enforcement do since the guy she suspects of doing this is the very detective working one of the cases?
I thought this was really good. The only problem i noticed was the scene where she is interviewing the victim's sister. There didnt seem to be anything in the dialogue that causes her to become offended, yet she does so fairly quickly, and then proclaims it was a clickbait piece. If that's how she felt, why did she agree to the interview? Other than that, this is definitely one of the better short films ive seen on youtube. I personally liked how you ended it.
RAW is WAR In my opinion, I think she became defensive and began to project her probable guilt over not getting on with her sister. There was still a bit of animosity and resentment in the way she suggested that her sister was more than likely seeing married men. That's probably why the deceased sister didn't tell her much. She would've been judged harshly by her. Now that she's dead however, the sister was probably feeling some guilt over their tumultuous relationship and also over the fact that even after her death, she still feels resentful over the way she had been leading her life. She took it all out on that poor reporter.
I'd also assume she did some research on the writer and her typical articles and the paper she's affiliated with. Worked back that she was writing a clickbait piece, even if she didn't intend to do so.
@@MrsPeebles62 Crossing the street and looking down wasn't the problem it was the stopping in the middle of the road. Normal people don't just stand in the middle of a road to answer a phone call.
@@MrsPeebles62 this was completely different than that. There’s a difference between walking in a busy ass metro area with your head down at your phone not paying attention... and a dark silent ass dead ass street in front of your house where you look down and the guy you suspect is the killer is calling you and you don’t see or hear anything up until your death? Not plausible
Omg this was awesome! I loved the way the flashbacks were done. Also the scenes of her at the computer, oddly enough people tend to come off forced in scenes where they're sitting and typing but this was well done. And my thoughts on it - SPOILER I think it was the detective' s wife! The way she looked at her, checking out the necklace, and the "I want to drive" comment ;)
For everyone complaining about her stopping in the road to answer her phone, she was actually prepared because she jumped aside at the last second and he crashed and died in a fiery wreck! So there!
Really well done film except for the ending that was just silly. I've watched enough of these short films to realize that taking a story through to a great ending is fiendishly difficult. There are many strengths in this film and the "author/director" has a good future :!
Great tension and the construct of discovering the connection with the necklace worked well. In hindsight getting the phone call from "mike" was maybe a little over the top as the record of the call and accident would be known. I don't think Mike would have been that foolish, maybe a flash of his face just as he's running her over would work. Love the production, I could taste the drive and commitment of the lead actress, in character, as she works agonizingly over the story really came through! Music score gets big points too. Glad I found it.
Liked it till the end. Stopping in the middle of the road where she knows all of this is going down is dumb on her part! like she should have been like no i cant leave, they know. Also i think its Jessica who is killing them not Mike.

Well her boss did tell her to bring him Something Crunchy. LOL, she did it twice fold. She was onto Something Crunchy and then she became Something Crunchy.
Kind of saw it coming, BUT, I always prefer when people at least put some effort into a story. Creating something clever in a short that's only got a few minutes to tell the story, isn't simple. So, you get points for giving it some thought.
I suspected the cop early on, when she began to think it was something premeditated. The addition of the other seemingly unrelated victim, and then the hints about how the women were seeing someone, but not seriously or publicly sort of clinched it--as it was clear in her first conversation with the cop there was some sort of romantic thing that was squashed by another woman (seemed to be a GF). By the time she sees the necklace, I think most viewers already knew what she realized. I'm not saying that's bad though. To be honest, nothing is more annoying than a movie with a mystery murder type plot where they hide all the relevant data till the end, and you're sitting there thinking "Well crap, who could have figured that out with all the relevant pieces withheld till the end?" It's like a cheat--like they want the viewer to be wondering what's happening, but are withholding all the information needed (or even one necessary piece) to solve it. What I really love is when I can't figure it out, and there's a reveal at the end, and *then* I realize the pieces were there, but I wasn't sharp enough to recognize it. I guess if I had to offer advice -- and I'm just a horror buff, not really big on murder mystery, and certainly no film maker -- I'd say maybe you gave too many clues, and it was more heavy handed than was necessary. It's a fine line though, and as I said, I prefer one I've figured out (at least I get to see the protagonist put it together--which is worth something) early, than one where it's impossible to figure it out. I liked it.
Tracie Harris cool thanks for the info, happy you liked it. To be honest, is asked because I like to know what conclusion people actually come to. When you really think about it, there are at least a couple other answers than « it was the cop », but I wanted to put the audience in the journalist’s shoes, showing how we all are guilty of creating truths only from our interpretation of the info we have, which is what we do here, as does she. Thanks for the feedback !
So I already called him... might tell him... or I just call the police? Naaah that would be way to easy... or I just could finish the article and post it online... atleast do something that is useful!

Why did she stop to answer the call right in the middle of the road?
Because it was late & the street was empty. Or so she thought.
It was in the script.
You should ask my dad that. He always does that .

She'd get no answer if she called 911.

Bro that's how the story had written.
@@noushadpvlryeah but it was a corny predictable ending. I don't even know why the car hit her.
