@@matthewantonucci6751 once a vacuum appears in her playlist, she moves onto other machines. We don't perform endless comparisons.

I had one of these as a kid and one day the motor burnt out. It was the best vacuum in my moms mind but I thought the Royal mry8300 was better. The worst part of it was the self propelled belt always wore out.

Yes, those and the Concept line up and Dimension live from the mid 90s use a flat belt for the self propelled system driven off the same motor spindle as the brushroll. These do have a v belt and clutch setup for the brush roll.

Kirby has a spoiled with their nice smooth tech drive. I often find with my carper types I turn off my self propelled on the my Hoover as it's not much of a change.

I always really liked these machines, even though there were far superior bagged uprights available. Mine is an older model but pretty much the same. But I don’t really like the drive on these. They are very clunky especially when compared to Kirby’s TechDrive. And the cable that controls it are prone to snapping if you pick it up in the wrong spot. But I do still really like these things, though I’ll probably never know why.

I have the same model, although mine's a little older with the older style turbo tool. I love its cleaning performance, but I do agree with you about dislikes on the limited carpet height settings and the snappy self-propelled transmission (I even have other self-propelled Hoovers that have transmissions that are super responsive like this, that may just be in their design). And judging by your remarks about this being in the middle setting and being hard to push even with the self-propelled makes be thing that the transmission in this may need some adjustments, mostly to fix the forward pushing force (definitely an issue for them as they age and get out of adjustment).

The transmission is very responsive. A bit too responsive though. Hard to control, not a smooth engagement like a Kirby.

I'm with you on this model. Disappointing. Mine is manual push and is a pain like my Dial a Matics to push. Does ok to clean the cars out etc. I think a Convertible cleans better. Hey Bill, my wife says you look cute in your shorts! 😂. Thought that would make your day. Lol. Jimmy in Green Bay.

The dirt sensor needs to be wiped/cleaned, this should solve the issue with the red light. The sensor is located inside the tube the bag connects on. Here’s a video that should resolve the issue th-cam.com/video/-VJIvlzazEc/w-d-xo.html

As I've mentioned many times in previous videos, tried that solution without success.

Those items would exceed the residual value of the vacuum, so not going to happen. I did install a new light bulb however.
