  • still no solution to the corn as of this morning. now I will be making a call this morning to get a recommendation for the solution and its only money right? well I knew I would need something but I am not exactly sure what it is I need. if you read the text on each sample im basically in need of very little but I will get the official recommendation and I will share that with y'all as soon as I get it.

    Circa 1975.
Temps had been up in the 80°F to 90°F for the last week of April and first week of May. Dad plants corn on May 5th. Comes June 24th, it fell 6 to 8 inches of snow. The corn is totally covered. This was the very first year he planted corn, a little 30 acres patch, and thought it would be the last.
Summer comes with lots of heat and average rain. By the end of July, the corn was 14 to 15 foot tall. Farmers from surrounding towns who had been planting corn for over a decade were coming to have a look at this, as they had never seen anything like this ever.
I remember how tall your crop was last year at this time in June. It was almost belt high when watching you go through it. I'm sure this year crop of yours will be as big or bigger than last year. We never know from year to year with crops anyway ;)

We use to fight that every year especially in the cold sandy ground, in central Louisiana where I'm at we try and plant the last days of February to the middle of March, right now the corn has tasseld and most of it has already formed the complete ear, however getting back to the yellowish/ purple color we fought that until we started using pop up fertilizer sprayed directly into the seed furrow our pop up consisted of mostly phosphorus and very little nitrogen, the phosphorus is what accelerates root development and allows the plant to take in all the other nutrients available in the soil, we've done test where we purposely turned it off for a round then continued using it on the rest of the field, the pass without it stayed yellowish and purple while the applied area outgrew it two to one, however at harvest there was essentially no yield difference where it wasn't applied once the temperature warmed up the untreated area would catch it up, but I know what you mean it can worry the hell out of you when the whole field is that color

There's to do with the sun, moon, the wobble of the axis and oval orbit that is never taken into consideration. But you are correct. Neutral Enzo to slightly negative Enzo historically gives us a not so nice winter in the Great Lakes and upper Midwest as well.

@@danw6014 yeah I think earth is at perihelion at the moment also(furthest from the sun),in the elliptic cycle usually January solstice is peak, meh there’s too many alarmists on both sides warming and cooling but fact is earth is in an interglacial period, still in an ice age and is supposed to get cooler.Humans just need to adapt or we’re screwed.Take care.
Now that you mentioned the moon jogged the memory a bit on corn being a Rhizome plant part of the grass family that actually grows by moonlight but needs the right temperature which magically is 18celcius.

@svthorasailing4868 we will adapt. The purple haired people, I don't have much hope for. The moon can even pull water up from the soil just like it raises the tide.

@@danw6014 yeah I’m not talking about the purple people eater looney university fookers im talking about monitized TH-cam channels that prey on the uninformed people that otherwise are busy with their life problems, they sell fear and advertise survival products and caps and clothing those types I more meant about, the next solar flare will take out the grid, wipe out food fear mongerers.
Actually I sail and learned that the the tide is created by the earth’s rotation and spring king tides and neap tides are effected by the phase of the moon and it’s adhelion or perihelion (near or far)from earth, the tide is controlled by the earths rotation into the bulge of the ocean at the equator but then accentuated also by the phase of moon and elipitical orbit etc etc.
As for the moon pulling moisture up in the soil I wasn’t aware of that but talking about corn and Rhizome species it’s said they have a dark aspiration so also they are the nightshade family like potatoes 🥔 which are said to be toxic high in alkalinity like milk weed and opiates, many flowers.I digress cheers for the information and chat, take care.

Certain soils compact excessively and lack fluff and aeration. Plants root systems need to breath I think. Cold weather certainly compounds the slow growth issue. Zero till farming is partly to blame.

The purpling is a build up of photosynthate in the leaves that can't get to the roots likely because of sidewall compaction. It will grow out of it but you likely need some rain to soften things.

If so, it could grow out of it assuming a low dose. As a side note, I’m pro no-tillage like you, but every once in awhile I mold board plow a field and it really does wonders for bringing up trace nutrients ect. Plow in the fall.

Be interesting to know which test methods the laboratory is using to get their figures with. Molybdenum is one trace element to think about what is going on. Might look at the element interaction wheel to provide some clues. Sometimes in the early stages, I assigned poor plant growth to just the pollution dispersing out of the city and getting blocked by the hills and sitting in hollows. Your houses appear to be too close to use fresh strong odor chicken litter as fertilizer.(full spectrum multiple trace elements in the chicken feed then applied pre-plant as chicken litter can give corn a boost). In the future might consider selenium for the corn and cobalt for the soybeans.(one quick cut and paste- Too much lime can create an iron deficiency and tie up essential nutrients such as zinc, copper, boron and manganese)

Started foliar feeding with Lefingwell products with boron & zinc didn’t help. One day in some magazines I got it said that if you wanted to create a nitrogen deficiency in the lab to increase amount of phosphorus. I had been banding triple 19 close to the strawberry plants and cultivating it in. After learning the lab result information I started to broadcast the triple 19 and cultivating it in that solved my problem. I have no idea what your problem is.

Being from the desert southwest i see an oxygen issue and or compaction issue. With as wet as the spring has been with some pretty large rain events the rain compacted the root zone for the young corn plants and with it being cold the water isn’t leaving the soil fast enough. With your hot days coming up as you say the plants will be able to do their thing and grow right out of it. I would almost say to take out the antique glyphosate and cultivate your really bad areas to dry the soil out and add oxygen. Love everything that your doing with the regenerative ag
