I have always resolved myself to that fact. But...I understand why. They grew to hate it. It would be a strange experience for them to observe history as non-Beatles, looking at really good bands in the 60's and 70's, not called the Beatles, if there ever were any, and we never knew the 4 of them.
@@DavidVRubio Well, obviously, in the 90s the remaining three reunited to make the Anthology album. But given they had 31 years after the break up to get together, that's not such a big deal. I don't buy it. He might have invented a supposed dinner in order to save face and claim a "calm down it's a joke" narrative. After all, John was trashing Paul in every interview, making fun of Paul's music, and sending scathing letters to both Paul and Linda McCartney. The "I had dinner with him" is a fabrication so John could sing "How Could You Sleep" and keep his beef against Paul.
George Martin used the term siblings. When brothers fight they can be intense, many, and artists in particular, may not even talk for years or even for life.
from 72 to 75, it was Lennon who wanted to reconnect more. he even wanted to perform with Paul during a charity concert but Paul refused because Klein was still Lennon's official manager who organized it and Lennon was also talking about the possibility of the Beatles working together more at that time. after 75, John came back to Yoko and now it was Paul who tried to reconnect more but Sean was born, John was staying at home and not actively writing music, his mental state declined too. In 1980, he came back to music and that's when John and Paul started to talk on the phone often again. Lennon also couldn't leave the US until 1979 because he didn't have Greed card but Yoko said he wanted to visit GB in 1981 with Sean, started performing live again and there was a few claims that John and Paul wanted to record songs in 1981 together.
If Lenny had stayed with May, a much more POSITIVE influence on his life, he and Macca would have socialized a lot more. Alas, May was only there so Froko YoJoe could keep her wicked tendrils in him, and, returning to her like a whipped cur, he lived unhappily ever after. 😢
We have May to thank for these historic photos of them together in 1974. As far as I know, these are the only photos of Lennon-McCartney from that decade.
Jack Douglas, who was Lennon's producer on his last album Double Fantasy in Summer 1980 and was working with him again in December 1980 when he was killed, has stated that he was aware of at least one meeting between Lennon and McCartney in 1980, and it was a working meeting- they were writing together. He went on to say that another writing session had been scheduled, but then when McCartney showed up he was told Lennon wasn't around and was sent away by Yoko. In turn Lennon was told that McCartney had never shown up. There's deliberate obfuscation about the entire late70s timeline of Lennon/McCartney contact. May Pang, who was living in a separate NYC apartment with Lennon has said that Paul was a very frequent guest in 1974. And that story about Saturday Night Live in April 1976 is a whole cloth lie Lennon said because it sounded good and McCartney backed because Lennon said it- McCartney was actually prepping a concert in Texas that night. When asked directly: when was the last date that you saw Lennon in person? McCartney answers “I don't remember”. I’d judge this one of the things he intends to guard his privacy to the grave on, and we're never going to know unless Lennon's diaries get published.
They never wrote together after the Beatles. Jack Douglas is completely wrong. I don`t think John and Paul met in 1980. When John was interviewed shortly before his death he said that he had not seen Paul since Sean was a baby. Paul used to turn up at the Dakota unannounced, and that pissed John off, so one time when Paul showed up, John refused to see him. And after that they never met again. That is what John himself said in interviews. There were no mention of them ever having a songwriting session. There`s so many false stories. I tend to believe the stories told by the John and Paul, instead if listening to people who knew them.
@@yellyman5483 Certainly everyone must decide for themselves what they find credible. Jack was there, working with John day after day in 1980, he's one of very few people on Earth who was close to John in those last months. Perhaps the man's a liar, but me myself, I require a reason to charge someone with bearing false witness, and I'm not aware of anything else Jack has ever shared about John being proved false. John, he had reason to shut down questions about McCartney when he was using the media to promote his own new solo material, and refusing to share your private information with the public isn't really dishonesty. The story about watching Saturday Night Live together the night the money was offered for a reunion has been demonstrably proved myth by actual historical records of McCartney's location that night, and actual historical records win against ‘what John said’, and ‘Paul said it too’. And I've got to ask, just on common sense, because he said it you actually believe that Paul McCartney is telling the truth that he can't remember the last time he met with John Lennon alive and in person, rather than saying the simplest thing to stop the public from asking for private information he refuses to share?
@@yellyman5483 Ah! A happy agreement between you, me, Jack Douglas, and Paul McCartney, then. No Lennon/McCartney song was written after breakup of The Beatles. What Jack Douglas has said is that they were *trying* to get the writing back together, and that was interfered with. Jack’s a decent guy. John was killed about 10 minutes after he said goodnight to Jack on December 8, and you can find vid here on TH-cam showing Jack at the hospital trying to negotiate entrance to be with Yoko while the cops stand there telling the television cameras John was shot and they can't confirm his condition.
@@RS-nf4vz I know that he produced John in 1980. I`ve never heard the story of Paul writing with John. There are stories that Yoko used to block calls from Paul whenever Paul tried to call John. She would answer the phone, and refuse to let Paul talk to John, and afterwards she didn`t tell John that Paul had phoned. Yoko and Paul couldn`t stand each other for a very long time. They have never been close, but in more recent years they`ve been more civilized to each other. I think they both realized that John loved them both, and that they should get along for John`s sake. As Paul said. Yoko was John`s wife, and he respects that. Yoko has also said that she realizes how important Paul was to John. Anyhow, it`s a very complicated story.
Unless you grew up in the 60's, you simply cannot imagine the excitement and anticipation of a Beatles album release. I can remember waiting in line for The White Album and Abbey Road. Hi, thank you very much, this is so interesting. From what I've read, soon after the April 1976 meeting (when they considered going to a TV studio), Paul (and probably LInda too) called in again, maybe even the next night, and John wouldn't let them in saying words like 'Next time call first, this isn't 1958'. I thought they didn't meet again, your mention of a 1977 encounter is news to me, do you know more please? Also, given that Linda seemed always to carry a camera and took photos constantly, I find it hard to believe that May Pang's 1974 photos were the last ever of the two of them together. I know no others have emerged, but surely she took some in April 1976? Having said that, if she did surely Paul would have made them public wouldn't he? I just find it curious.

George harrison would have had to be in a good mood and likely asked from all sides to do it. I'm sure once they hit their 40s they would have wanted to relive the glory days/nostalgia/midlifecrisis. But what do I know.

The Beatles were the greatest rock and roll group of the 20th century and when they broke 💔 up the world 🌎 wasn't the same again without the Beatles Beatles forever 😊😊❤
McCartney has said in live interviews said the four of them never got together again after the breakup.
I have always resolved myself to that fact. But...I understand why. They grew to hate it.
It would be a strange experience for them to observe history as non-Beatles, looking at really good bands in the 60's and 70's, not called the Beatles, if there ever were any, and we never knew the 4 of them.
Not the four of them. But 2 and 3 of them did.
@@DavidVRubio Well, obviously, in the 90s the remaining three reunited to make the Anthology album.
But given they had 31 years after the break up to get together, that's not such a big deal.
John's window was much smaller, as he moved to NY and 'retired' for half the decade, and that's why videos like this exist. With him, the opportunities were much rarer.
To me, it was a bit heartbreaking.
Well I'm just glad that no one got hurt.
Hey! There at 1:12, it’s Harry Nilsson. Beatles are in good company.
They were big fans of Nilsson. He does a great cover of You Can’t Do That. Listen to it.
@@DukeofUke61 Wow. I’ve never heard this. Interesting mash up arrangement, probably by some smarty at RCA. The “Harry” Lp is very good also.
Instead of James Taylor being “the Great American Singer”, (great as Taylor is), it’s Harry Nilsson, imo. And nothing tops “Jump into the Fire”.
@@davidbaise5137 In an interview, John and Paul were asked who their favorite singers were, and John replied, “Nilsson for president. “ Check out Pussy Cats, produced by Lennon. Great cover of Subterranean Homesick Blues and Save the Last Dance for Me.

John Lennon said In an interview in 1971 "We just had dinner last week"
John was known to let out these quips - There is a vid on YTube of a kid in New York's Central Park asking John when The Beatles are getting back together, and John responds "Tomorrow"
I think they visited each other in their dreams.
If they just would have gone to that SNL show. The alternate universe where they did must have been epic.

Last time Paul saw John was in 1966.
@@nadiachristiansen7599 The last time Paul saw John was in 1964.
@nadiachristiansen7599 I know, Paul's been dead since 1724. 🙄🤣
@@nadiachristiansen7599Get real! There is no truth in these rumours, it is so full of holes only the terminally brain dead would believe it!
seems like paul was making more of an effort to reconnect
from 72 to 75, it was Lennon who wanted to reconnect more. he even wanted to perform with Paul during a charity concert but Paul refused because Klein was still Lennon's official manager who organized it and Lennon was also talking about the possibility of the Beatles working together more at that time. after 75, John came back to Yoko and now it was Paul who tried to reconnect more but Sean was born, John was staying at home and not actively writing music, his mental state declined too.
Paul said on the Howard Stern show that after the Beatles broke up, the four of them were never in one room again.
@@RS-nf4vz I believe Paul, when he talks about not writing with John again after the Beatles,
@@yellyman5483 Ah!
Is this is to believed, Yoko would play a significant part in keeping them apart post Beatles........
Oh yes it is without any doubt, Yoko kept John on a very short leash. It sucked man.

Unless you grew up in the 60's, you simply cannot imagine the excitement and anticipation of a Beatles album release. I can remember waiting in line for The White Album and Abbey Road. In every interview that Lennon gave, he said he had no interest in a Beatles reunion. Promoter Sid Bernstein made an astronomical offer for a Beatles reunion concert, and Lennon told him a flat out no! In every interview Lennon gave, he was adamant in having no interest in a Beatles reunion!
Elliott Mintz, suggested that Paul & Linda had visited John & Yoko on Christmas Day. However, he claims he forgot the year it happened. According to Mintz, they all went out for pizza.

John never sought Paul. Always paul sought John.
That`s true. John didn`t seek anybody. If you wanted to have a relationship with John, you would have to reach out to him. He hardly spoke to his own son Julian when he lived in New York. He used to phone his old auntie Mimi in England and speak to her, but other than that, he didn`t stay in touch with anybody. He had two sisters, and a son he never spoke to. It`s sad. John missed out on a lot of love from his own family.
Exactly. But Macca wankers would have you believe that John was desperate to get back with PM. And now even PM is spewing this nonsense. He wanted John to be jealous of him because it would have given him some kind of credibility. Quite the contrary in fact however. "Paul is a great PR man" - JWL.

George had a miserable time being a Beatle. He's said it many times in interviews.

In the 1970s Paul looked 10 years younger than he was. Not trying to be unkind but John, George , and Ringo didn't tend to keep up with the latest fashion trends in the 70s which made them look older than they were.
Paul McCartney died in 1966. It's Billy looking five years older than the other Beatles.
Rest in peace, James Paul McCartney.
I don't think it was what they were wearing, with John and Ringo, it was what they were drinking. Both into alcohol, looking puffy and overweight in the mid seventies.
