In June of 1980 I asked a radio DJ What ever happened to John Lennon, he told me John Lennon was writing some new music! I said wow! Something to look forward to! October came around and heard ( Just like) starting over on the radio! Was really excited to hear John Lennon again. Back then I bought the 45 7in vinyl single and in November bought the Double Fantasy Cassette, the music 🎵 was fantastic! I can go on, but after December 8th 1980 Life has not been the same! The creepy gothic vibes of the Dakota, Lennon's emaciated pale appearance, his random travels, his weird codependent relationship with Yoko, the melancholy piano demos he recorded in the late 70s....it's hard not to feel that the whole thing was very sad in a really deep, strangely awful way.

He looks old for someone 40 years old. He never exercised, smoked his entire adult life, did drugs and drank, and appears to be sickly thin. At any rate, the photos bring back memories of that terrible evening. Would have been so interesting to see what he would have done over the next 10-20 years.

John Lennon was born destined to win,making the difference and he was brilliantly blessed,for sure...And he made it to have an extraordinary life doing the things he wanted to because he was destined to be lucky and he did all the great things he did living physically only for fourty years!❤

Everything was in Order between them after Times of Trouble and Separation, ahead to a new Era of his Fourties and then brutally taken away from the World, his beloved Ones and us Fans. The World will never forgive this Man, for what he did on that fateful Day to John.

Apparently on his autopsy report the Dr comments on something along the lines of "a 40 year old man with the body of someone in their 60's"..... murky rumours are he developed a eating disorder in the final years of his life..... Yoko had him on a diet of rice and sushi, with his treat a bar of chocolate on his birthday, but he would take to hiding chocolate around their house..... and probably had he lived, he may have been diagnosed with bulimia in later years (the photo of him in the red shirt with the top buttons undone you can quite literally see his chest cage bones with his skin hanging off him (I suspect he was aware of this, as he did seem to pick his clothes in 1980 to hide this, as some photos he looks perfectly normal, then one sneaks in and he looks very sickly)

There was no chance of Lennon embarking on a world tour. Yoko would have done everything to have prevented this. Their relationship was fragile despite appearences to the contrary. She was scared Lennon would have slipped back into the rock and roll lifestyle and return to the UK with May Pang.

I think there is two 'sliding door' moments in music history ; 1 - that the Beatles never split up and 2 - that Lennon wasn't killed at 40. Put it this way, the world was utterly denied the brilliance of The Beatles and Lennon by what happened in reality. SO tragic. As an aside, with the incredible success of the ABBA 'hologram' concert in London, which I think will run and run, I really hope that we have a Beatles show - it could, of course, have The Beatles in the four distinct stages of their career- 62-64 - Mop Tops & Suited, 65-66 - casual, 1967 - Pepper uniforms- 68-70, casual & unkempt. MAKE THIS HAPPEN !!!!!

The thing about John is that he was ethereal. I mean, like he was barely held cellular by the veil at times. He must have been aware when he was swimming in the intrinsic mirror. It's heavy for a body to hold when living along the edges that divide mist when it understands it must. Good job.

Yoko was cheating on him with Sam Havadtoy at the time, and would come out with these "your horoscope says you need to make a "so-and-so journey" in order to get him out the way for a few days...... from eye witness reports he lived a very quiet life in South Africa, as he would just hang around the hotel reading a newspaper or sit in the garden doing yoga, and on one day he paid a driver to take him around to see the sights)..... Mae Pang has also confirmed that he was in South Africa as he phoned her from the hotel one night and that was the last time they spoke.

I have lived in New York for many years. I was here when John Lennon was murdered. The city was crushed,, crippled and dazed as Sir Elton John describes it in his beautiful tribute to Lennon, "Empty Garden." He was a heavy coke user in the 70s (as a lot were). Still using it sometimes in interviews for Double Fantasy.

He was extremely thin ...actually too thin. But he seemed a lot more positive at this point as compared to the rest of the 1970s or at least the early to mid-1970s

He did go to South Africa briefly but yes those photos are from Bermuda.
Yoko sent him to South Africa in May 1980.... There is photos of him there and on the plane back to New York. Yoko was cheating on him with Sam Havadtoy at the time, and would come out with these "your horoscope says you need to make a "so-and-so journey" in order to get him out the way for a few days...... from eye witness reports he lived a very quiet life in South Africa, as he would just hang around the hotel reading a newspaper or sit in the garden doing yoga, and on one day he paid a driver to take him around to see the sights)..... Mae Pang has also confirmed that he was in South Africa as he phoned her from the hotel one night and that was the last time they spoke.

I have lived in New York for many years. I was here when John Lennon was murdered. The city was crushed,, crippled and dazed as Sir Elton John describes it in his beautiful tribute to Lennon, "Empty Garden."
